This was such a cool idea. As somebody who got into makeup more recently I find videos like this really interesting to hear about products that existed in the past.
I got the Balm Instain collection and they are my favorite blushes. I especially like "Lace", even though I am warm-toned, pinker blushes look better on me than coral ones. I don't know why! I learned about Instain from your channel years ago! 😊 And I like Hot Mama in the summertime. ❤🔥
Hi Maaike I know my blushes look a lot different now than in 2017, but it's due to the variety we now have access to and the improvement in cream/liquid blush formulas. I did own cream and liquid blushes back then, but the choice was limited. I owned some pot rouge by Bobbi brown and Daniel Sandler watercolour blush as a liquid. The Daniel Sandler formula has stood up and is still a good formula, but the Bobbi brown faded fairly quickly. I always had dry skin which is why I wanted cream or liquid even back then. Mauve wasn't a colour that was readily available in many brands back then so I had bright pink and plum from what I remember. I had some powder blush from Laura Gellor, Benefit dandelion and bare minerals loose pigments. I did own at least two of the Bobbi brown shimmer bricks😂 in the same colour as you and rose. I never really got into Mac, but I did have one of the Max factor baked blushes shown. I knew back then that peach and coral looked terrible on me, so I didn't really have those. Lavender blush certainly wasn't a thing back then and it's a favourite now. Plum and berry were in my collection but had to be used with a light hand. Finding lighter blush in anything other than pink, peach or coral was really difficult as most shade ranges were quite small (especially in cream or liquid). I remember most of the higher end and some of the affordable stuff being really popular on UA-cam 😂. Best wishes x
I didn't really like cream products either, back in the day. They disappeared very quickly after applying. I think the formulation has greatly improved since then.
Mac is still one of my favourites blushes formula to this day. Melba is my perfect shade that i've just repurchased. In 2017 i didn't even wear makeup i was wearing mascara and lipsticks , i've started very late in my 30' s with full face of makeup but is interesting to see how far everything has come. I love liquid blushes or creams but sheer ones, i have to be honest Rare Beauty ones aren't my favourites anymore 😅
I love this video! I can relate as I just went through my own collection and was horrified by some of the colour of MAC blushes I own… what was I thinking? 😉
I have serious fomo - those creams and liquids are everywhere, and I feel like an oldy sticking to the oldies. The thing is back then they would cause me acne - can the formulas be THAT much better now? I still can't wear even liquid foundation more than few times a month if I want clear skin... I'm the most powder person out there...
Kind of, but not really. Many Max Factor products aren't available in the US and Cover Girl products aren't available in the EU. But there certainly is some overlap.

I have a whole host of videos and blog posts with my older collections. The nostalgia is real.
Products and our knowledge of makeup have gone a long way. So nice to see how much you changed along the way.
It certainly has been a journey.
I love this video concept

Yeah they are a solid pick till this day.
Looking forward to the declutters coming up.
First I'm showing my collection with all the swatches.

Very true, pale blush shades used to just be a pink and a peach. I hated that.

It's certainly that cream and liquid blushes have improved greatly over time.

One of those peach tones was Melba! I just forgot the name of it as I haven't owned that one for years.

I know right?!
I wonder if cream blushes weren't that great and if formulas are just better. Or perhaps we were more matte back then 😂

I think that must have been part of it, but I may have also not yet found options that worked for me just yet.
Isn’t cover girl our max factor?
