      @@ShredmasterScott I would like to add to this. I have been playing for half of my life with 2 scales. After watching your Bach/Fugue series, finally all that elementary level theory made sense. For roughly a year now, I have been diving head first into theory and have made great progress because of those videos. Keep it up dude!

    To me, as I said on Ola Englund his page, you and Ola are complementairy to learn the guitar in a decent and a Metal-hilarious way. Therefor I'm already glad to find soul related instructors on the net, but Ola testing the gear and you explaining the properties of music on it's own, yeah a perfect match. Snap, you guys could do a stupendously great clip together.

    I’ve always felt that playing only neoclassical can be limiting in what emotions you’re expressing. Should probably be used, in my opinion, for sections of songs rather than a full neoclassical album because it has the potential to become very redundant. There are, of course, methods to avoid this problem. Just my take on neoclassical.

    • @ShredmasterScott
      @ShredmasterScott  4 роки тому +6

      Marksman1107 well that’s where the “neo” part comes in. Toss in some other musical elements to avoid sounding one dimensional

    • @marksman1107
      @marksman1107 4 роки тому +1

      Shred and this channel is definitely the best place to go to learn said musical elements.

    • @kirenvandenbrandeler7869
      @kirenvandenbrandeler7869 4 роки тому

      Marksman1107 I agree, a good example is the final countdown solo that definitely doubles down on neoclassical progressions for that particular section. But the novelty is also in the key change for the solo. Either way it makes it rewarding when it goes back to the classic minor key trumpet hook.

    great video. my takeaways today to work with are that 5 on 5 chord progression for the double resolution and also arpeggiated chords up the 3 octaves. that sounds so nice. why I have never worked on that is crazy. I practice those on the 88keyboard all the way up and down, yet I never crossed that over to the guitar. scales and shapes yes, but not just pure chords...wtf.... Also, that neopolitan helps with great walking bass note runs when I need just that one more coherent step in there, so I have been working with that a lot since that other video.

    SHRED, you forgot to explain the Italian 6, german 6, chords in classical music they used them often, not sure how they used them. Also the V chord in natural minor is a V dominant or Major chord and the V chord in harmonic minor is the same thing its a V dominant or Major chord there is no difference because a V chord used in natural minor or in harmonic minor

    • @EclecticEssentric
      @EclecticEssentric 4 роки тому

      On the second topic: the V of matural minor is the 5th FROM the tonic's point of view.
      In C key: The A minor (natural minor, aeolian mode, 6th mode) is 6th, with the V7 as you say. But from the A minor's point of view (aeolian mode) the 5th from there is e; AbcdEfg, another minor.
      So he take's the 6ths 5th and makes it major with the dominant 7, which wants to pull strongly back to the tonic, A, as if it were actually A major instead. It resolves stronger than the 'diatonically correct' minor 7 chord would have.

    • @ShredmasterScott
      @ShredmasterScott  4 роки тому

      You’re right. I’ll put aug 6th chords in the next one

    SHRED , the Cadential 6/4 is always the i chord in 2nd inversion? the Cadential 6/4 is never the IV chord or V chord only the I chord?The Neapolitan so a half step up from the I chord is 100% out of key that's a chromatic out of key chord, not sure how they used this in classical to make it sound like its in the key center.

    • @oneeyemonster3262
      @oneeyemonster3262 4 роки тому

      The Neapolitan is just Harmonic min b2 or Phrygian Maj7
      or dorian b2, Maj7....
      The MODE for the b2 chord is Lydian #6 or Lyd #5, #6
      From A min...it's Bb lydian #6 or lydian #5, #6
      D double harmonic min = Bb Lydian #2, #6
      D Harmonic min b5 = Bb lydian #2, b7 ( mix #2, #4)
      In a nut shell you can alter Bb to the whatever the FU$K chord.lmao
      You could apply it After MAJOR's ( Db) tonic or minor's TONIC
      Well lets just apply it after each minor .
      A Harmonic min b2
      D melodic min b2..... ( you have a problem playing D dorian with a maj7?? WHY?
      E min....phy...
      or fu4k it...play D dorian b2, #4 :-P ( A Harmonic min b5)
      well if you play C melodic min....it's A aeo b5.....you have a problem playing Maj7????? WHY??? lmao
      You could make the F lydian #2, b7...as F min7 or F7...
      If you play A melodic min,,,,it;s A min D7. E7.
      so this way you can play the b2 after all the minor chords.
      B min?...it could be B dorian b2,,,if you count from A melodic min.lmao
      Fu4k it.....let keep this shiet SIMPLE...Play the b2 after whatever chord.
      be it Maj or min....
      You can make the b2 chord maj7. dominant. aug, dim. min7 min/maj7
      even if you use the F lydian #2 or F lydian b3....you can still make it F min..
      Play C Maj into F min7 chord....
      Then just play the Gb and Ab....with your other finger.
      Then Play G7 into C MAJOR
      Or Play C Maj into F min Bb Min....then just play the Db with your pinky.lmao
      The Ab G7 into C MAJOR
      or C Maj into F min Bb min C min/ Eb...C min/Db..lmao
      or A min Bb7 C7 into F melodic min
      or A min Bb7 into Eb MAj C min G min F min E7 into A min.
      will shiet...
      F Maj...F# dim..G Maj G# dim into A min....that's lessons from 10 years ago.lmao.
      Lets do this for 2020.
      A min BbMaj....Eb Maj D dim, B dim into C Maj into F min Bb dim into B min
      E7 into A min...lmao
