- On Capri you can find the beginning of VIa Krupp just by the Gardens of Augustus.
Herculaneum (known as Ercolano in Italian) is easy to get to using the Circumvesuviana train from Sorrento or Naples.

Dorset Apple Cake recipe, via Helen from @40plusnotgivingupyet on Instagram
225g self raising flour
1tsp baking powder
200g castor sugar
2 eggs
150g melted butter
250g diced apples
25g flaked almond (not obligatory)
preheat oven to 160°c
grease 1 round cake tin
Mix everything together except the apples.
Spread half onto cake tin. Heap the sliced apples in the centre and spread the rest of the cake mix over it, trying to completely cover it.
Sprinkle flaked almonds over the top.
Bake for 1 1/4 hours 160°c

I had the IMMENSE honor of running into Nicki and her husband when we were walking around Positano as they were walking their dogs. She is even more beautiful and gracious in real life. She was so kind and took time to take a photo with us. I went immediately back to the hotel and ordered from her shop so the I can have a souvenir of this magical encounter!! Italy is not a monolith. There is a Center, a North and South where Carlo is from and they are far more sunny than the rest of Italians.

How wonderful that Skye will be visiting her grandfather. She will likely look upon trips like those in her future with great fondness. Skye is a very loved young lady and it is so touching to see the men in her life show affection to her. Also, Nicki gave Skye more sleep time when she needed help in the kitchen. Those signs of love are precious.

I like Dave's enthusiasm for history. Capri is my favorite place to visit in Italy. I have visited in summer and winter overnight and the memories are dreamlike for me.
I agree with you Herculaneum is much better, amazing preservation and you can get so close to the building remains. Didn’t take Dave to the Blue Grotto ? Enjoyed this weeks Video.

I prefer Herculaneum over Pompeii as well, though as an archeology geek, I loved them both! I liked how close you could get to everything in Herculaneum, while in Pompeii it felt as if more things were blocked off. A friend and I are planning a trip to Italy in 2024, and we will visit both - I can't wait! There have been so many new discoveries made since I was last there. I know they won't all be available to look at, but I find it all absolutely fascinating.
Archeology geek here, too:). Have been able to visit a number of times. For me, that has really worked with Pompeii, as I have seen different sections each visit. I am fascinated with both. Such different stories. 2000 and 2007 climbed Vesuvious. Have fun in 2024. I envy you this next adventure.

I found Herculaneum more interesting than Pompeii because it has so much better preserved than Pompeii. That being said, they are both worth seeing.

I love how you take the dogs everywhere with you yet they still do whatever they want and can get to be a real chore to keep out of trouble. If you left them at home all safe & sound they would probably act like you were abusing them! 😂

Ottimo video come sempre. Vorrei tornare a Capri, è un posto incredibile...ci sono stato (ci siamo stati in realtà, io e mia moglie) nel 1998 ma come quasi tutti, solamente per alcune ore. Negli anni seguenti ho spesso pensato a come tornarci e affittare una casa o qualcosa del genere...è un po' caro ovviamente. Mi piacerebbe passare una settimana lì, facendo nulla tranne che camminare, mangiare, e godermi i panorami, il mare, e le barche. Ma ho dimenticato: inoltre, vorrei parlare con la gente in italiano, cosa che mi piace un sacco. Spero che vada tutto bene. Ciao.
Ciao Scott, sono Carlo, Capri è certamente molto di più di quello che appare, negli anni passati ci siamo andati spesso in inverno quando il meteo era bello, e in questo modo puoi iniziare scoprire la "vera" Capri senza quella assurda folla di persone!

According to the internet, the population of Positano is less than 4,000. And, as per Carlo, the visitors arriving each day is 10 or 20 thousand is jaw dropping.
