Crochet did what he had to do to protect himself. He pitched 12 innings in 2023. 12. If he were traded to a contender this season, the only thing they would be caring about is winning the WS. And if that causes Crochet's innings to balloon up to 160-180, they wouldn't care at all. If he and the Sox stick with their innings limit on him for this season, and he comes out next season repeating what he's doing now, he'll still be plenty valuable for a contender next year to trade for and possibly extend. We know the Sox aren't going to give him real.momey.
