Since 1945, the Rolex Datejust has stood as THE Rolex in a collection flush with icons. Originally launched as the first automatic watch with a jump date, the Datejust was born as a 36mm men's watch with a complementary bracelet: the five link Rolex Jubilee bracelet.
During the 1950s, the Datejust gained its now signature "Cyclops Eye" date magnifier in 1954 and celebrity endorsement by no less a figure than Rolex customer and U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower. By the 1980s, the 36mm Rolex Datejust had emerged as a power watch for both male and female watch buyers. The two tone combination of yellow gold and stainless steel took on new prominence and prestige during this period, and that is the era that spawned today's Rolex Datejust 16233.
Crafted from Rolex "Oyster Steel". (904L stainless) and yellow gold, this Rolex Datejust is an automatic winding Swiss chronometer with COSC certification and 100-meter water resistance. A modern sapphire crystal stands above a gold sunburst dial with original Rolex factory tritium dial features on the hands and outboard of the gold hour indices.
This Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust represents a bridge between Rolex's classical era -- Winston Churchill joined "Ike" among distinguished owners -- and the modern era or Rolex watches.
The Rolex Datejust features a 36mm stainless steel case with an 18k yellow gold fluted bezel surrounding a champagne dial on a stainless steel and 18k yellow gold Jubilee bracelet with folding buckle. Functions include hours, minutes, seconds and date. The watch also measures 11.9mm in thickness and 43.8mm from lug-to-lug.

I had a 16013 TT DJ that had seen better days with the jubilee band having some slack and stretching. I'm sent my bracelet to Michael Young in Hong Kong and he worked a miracle on my band. It was almost like a brand new band. I remember going to the Rolex AD and the lady behind the counter couldn't believe that the watch and band was over 30 years old because of how nice and tight mine was.

I honestly hate the Rolex brand at this point, but DAMN if the Datejusts aren't the worlds classiest, elegant and sexiest watch IMO! Vintage Rolex's are incredible! New ones just don't do it for me. I'm in love with the champagne linen, gold/black stick and the classic 'American Psycho' tapestry piece! Getting ready to pick up a very nice Franken actually as a genuine just isn't in the budget, and a good build on a Korean case is just as beautiful IMO.

Why some 3135 movements when rotating the crown clockwise , the hand turns clockwise?
On my rolex, the hands turns clockwise when turning the crown anti clockwise.
I believe it is before 904L, still 316L.
How much is the original cost? Just to see how much it has appreciated
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I believe the 16233 came with a hole less casing where the jubilee meets the watch itself.

Take a careful look at the condition since it's a vintage watch. But including papers, 6.5-7.5k is more than fair for the 16233 model. Consider that those watches are known to hold their value yet won't increase tremendously in price.

The newer 116233 has the infinity super jubilee so probably better to pay a bit more for that reason in my opinion.

I dont wear or use boxes and the paperwork can be gained when I get it serviced.
@@FatSamEIE when buying the orig paperwork has serial # that matches watch. If u send it in and it comes back as a great fake you will cry for your 4-7k and papers (Box who cares).
