Thanks for the kind feedback. I try to get to the point asap and not waste peoples time. When someone watches a tutorial they want the tutorial, not everything else about last video, next video, subscription and all kinds of links. Happy it could be of help!
Very helpful video. Now, where do you find the replacement bezels for the Orient Mako watches? I have a first generation Mako blue and the blue bezel is all scratched up.
Your bezel seem to rotate very smooth and easy. Mine take some effort to rotate and it is pretty stiff. Any suggestions on how to make it less stiff? Thanks for the video.
Sure 👌🏼 you need to oil the bezel ring (ring under the bezel after you take it of). You can buy it on ebay, small round box with cottons in it that is mildly oiled. Put the ring in, close the lid and turn it a couple of times, set it back in and it should work. Less popular tip. Oil it yourself, bend the "sticks" that is going up from the rind. I would not recommend to do this yourself, ask a watch maker for help or tips.
I tried to take the bezel off of my Luminox because it would not rotate, but I think some bezels do not come off, at least not this way, apparently from what I’ve saw it seems to be pretty easy on Seiko’s and Orient’s.
This design problem Orient created will result in emergency room visits with sliced fingers. I'm grinding my bezel off with a Dremel tool. Otherwise I will further scratch the watch. The bezel gets thrown away anyway. I have a new one from Long Island Watch.
+MercifulFate Haha believe me, i had a couple of tries before i got it right and easy. It is easier when you are not afraid of ruining the bezel, like in my case where i am waiting for a new one. Remember to check out different tutorials. The Seiko SKX007 for example, the knife actually has to be under the bezel before you start flipping, or else you can damage the watch and the bezel badly.
Hi, I got a Mako USA on the way and also a classic Mako and a Ray. My Ray is almost new (had onother one before that I sold) but I have already worn it so can't send it back. The problem is that the bezel has some play (could live with that) but especially that the pip triangle doesn't match correctly the 12 o' clock marker ant that is quite annoying. Have you got any recommendation or do you know if that can be fixed? Also, do youi know where to order Orient spare parts such as bezels if you're not in the US? and also in the US? Thanks.
+Felipe H Hi! Congratulations on your Mako USA order! I am sure you will love it. I am guessing that this is what you mean?` i561.photobucket.com/albums/ss55/conjurer_1/021-15.jpg - One thing you can try to do is bend the ratchet ring points a bit, either up or down. - I have also read that if you turn the ratchet ring (switching the points), it might align right at the 12 hour mark, but not with the 6 hour mark. I do not quite understand that myself, but on some of the forums i have seen people comfirm this. So to ordering parts: - Either contact the manufacturer in Japan and ask for parts (Do not think they have spare parts for Mako USA) info2@orient-w.co.jp - Or contact Orient Watch USA and ask if they can send to wherever you live if you pay for shipping. I think they have their own manufacturer in Brazil. Good luck with that!
Thanks a lot. Actually my Mako USA hasn't arrived yyet, the issue is with my Ray. And ye, that is exactly the problem (pic). I don't really understand that well the technical advice about bending the ratchet rings and not sure if I could do it myself. Most watchmakers around are weary about doing that sort of job because they think they might bend the bezel or something, or if they take out the bezel insert it might not stick well afterwards or they could scrarttch the watch. Giving that this is a relatively non expensive watch I might as well risk it and take responsibility for it. Orient watch USA only ships to US. And I also believe that Orient doesn't sell spare parts. Any other suggestions? Thanks again.
