Season 1 has some real gems, and this is one of them!
“That wasn’t an invitation, it was an order, COLONEL” 😂
Absolutely love Hammond!
More set up going on here 😉 There’s so many great episodes and story lines coming up in the next few seasons! So glad you’re doing Stargate, Mega!
I love that Nox woman. "Your people have learned nothing... But you have..."
Notice how when the Nox opened the stargate, it didn't have the typical unstable expansion, they call the 'woosh'....
Holy Crap!
You mean the Kawoosh?
@@pezdispencer113 Yes
Never noticed that
I should add that the ring/gate didn't rotate either.
Tolen and Maybourne. Pretty important characters got introduced to us in this episode. Damn good episode too.
So good to see you enjoying, and yeah, lovely episode, and much more goodness to come.
Yeah, Hammond is a good man.
Be seeing you!
This was such a great episode. I've watched it several times over the years and I still get much the same happy feeling at the end. Love the call back to the Nox, and you get a hint of the power they have when Lya arrives.
There are a few so-so episodes before the end of the season but the other episodes are great. It does feel like they realised where they wanted to take the show long term and so there is a lot more connectivity going forward. And the actors have really made the characters their own by now. It really is good solid enjoyable sci-fi.
I love SG1 and I have always thought that Stargate is all about disclosure!!!
Great episode which will impact future episodes.
Enter Maybourne, the guy we all hate to love
"oh they're going to conquer your world!"...lmao. Hammond! RIP Davis. Rare great callback with the Knox. SG-1's greatest weakness as a show is the unfortunate lack of great callbacks. Season 1 is enjoyable...but nothing compared to what it becomes in a couple seasons. I love your excitement for this show!
Seriously? I'd say it's SG-1's massive strength, there's so much connective tissue between episodes and most ideas get referenced in future episodes with a few exceptions.
@@alexmckee4683 for every great connection there are 5 that either get an off hand reference or completely not seen/heard from again. It does get much better as the seasons progress but theres alot of cultures or ideas that are in it for an episode or 2 and then not again when diving into/checking up on them would be interesting.
RIP Davis? oh no, I didn't know that.
@@hemmojito he died in 2008 of a heart attack sadly.
@@hemmojito yeah, back in 2008 :(
trust me it only gets better and better
😀
You should have let us die. Let's play a game?
The actor who played Omak is also the same guy from the Saw franchise of films.
I mentioned that in my reaction. Not sure if it made the YT cut.
@@MegaReacts probably not lol
@@MegaReactsit did.
Yeah I saw you say it
Season 1 is alright. Just like Babylon 5 it is trying to find its footing. It has quite a few meh episodes, just like season 1 Babylon 5 does. But unlike B5, SG1 isn't trying to tell a difficult story (YET). So the first season is relatively safe and easy. But no one can deny there's a lot of amazing episodes in season 1. But compared to the rest of the show there's quite a lot of great standalone or possible build up and arc episodes.
What are you talking about? SG-1 is not as complex or deep as B5, but the first season is as solid as it gets, for the kind of show it is.
@ifly-fsx did I say that it was bad? I said there are a lot of great episodes in SG1 season 1, but I'm also trying not to spoil that what comes in the next seasons is pretty damn good. SGQ might not be as complex as B5 (mostly because they didn't have a pre-planned 5 year story), but it does have a story and arc. They started building it in the last few episodes, and some of it is going to come back, but they didn't plan a lot of the stories yet. But it's still a damn good season.
@@Petrosman I didn't say you said it was bad. But you said it was meh. You are not comparing apples to apples. SG-1 will never have the epic story arcs or character arcs you'll see on B5. They will always save the Earth or whatever. It will always be safe. And that's fine, because it's still solid entertainment, and satisfying in other ways. I can't say more because of "spoilers."
@@ifly-fsx yeah I totally agree. But first seasons are usually meh. And people keep saying that B5's first season is difficult to get through even though it's crucial to set up the other seasons. SG1 had a few misses in the first half of the first season, with a bunch of meh episodes. We're right now hitting the gold episodes of the season where some of the stuff is actually important for later seasons. True, SG1 doesn't build a story arc like B5, and they didn't have a fleshed out plan like B5, but they still have an arc.
But when it comes to comparing first seasons, SG1 did a solid job. It's just compared to other seasons, the first season has too many misses (which will always be a thing in new shows trying to find their footing)
@@Petrosman I still don't know what the weak episodes were. Mega has been enjoying all of them.
