They do this every December and January sometimes slightly into February .They discount old stock to make room for new stock coming in and or new releases. More the 4-5 employees have told me the same thing.
Exactly, its nothing new at all, and the prices are still ridiculous, wasn't really much of a sale to begin with. All the stuff that is marked down is closeout stuff because its being replaced with a new item, or just plain not being sold anymore. Which is what the yellow tags are, those Ridgid battery starter kits are still $149...the one for $129 is either an older SKU, or it was bought and returned and now slightly discounted. I picked up a few Ryobi tools mostly the 4V USB Lithium stuff this year, and a couple of 40V Outdoor lawn/garden tools for the upcoming season while they had somewhat of a sale going on, but more so because I needed to replace some tools anyways, and its usually easier to get lawn/garden tools in the off-season rather than waiting until spring when everybody realizes their equipment doesn't work, or suddenly remembers it don't work LOL.
It's possible that the market is so saturated with products as to where it's not moving. Some tools are not needed to buy yearly, at least for a DIYer.
I wonder about this ALL THE TIME. I was a DIYer my whole life and had enough tools to trick people into thinking I was a pro; later, I BECAME a pro. In neither lifestyle have I bought enough tools to understand the production we're seeing.
Home Depot has really sucked lately. I’ve never been big on shopping at Lowe’s but lately I have been getting more tools from Lowe’s than Home Depot. HD is definitely disappointing at this time. Hopefully they come out with some new deals soon
I know of one homedepot in pas that has a huge makita, rigid, dewalt and milwaukee isle. That have a full row of lxt and xgt tools even the makita band saws. But yeah most stores dont carry alot of makita. Sucks bucks because makita is my favorite company.
Nothing new really went on sale. It's the same stuff every year. All the DIYers already have this stuff. They don't use it enough to break it. I was waiting on the Makita lxt stuff to get some type of discount but it never happened. I don't need any more batteries. (I literally have 6 4.0s and 7 5.0s) So the battery starter kit +free tool didn't make sense. I was hoping the sander, router, fan or pump to go on sale. It didn't happen so I will use my plug in options until they do. Nothing got cheap enough for me to impulse buy.
I'm in the same boat....nothing really on sale this year, and didn't really need anything, mostly picked up a few things to add to my tool systems that I needed, and a couple of lawn/garden tools I needed to replace and figured I'd get them during the off-season rather than waiting until spring when everybody suddenly decides their equipment from last year isn't cool enough and goes on a spending spree and wipes everything out LOL. Grabbed what I needed now while the shelves were stocked to beat the rush LOL. Same deal with batteries as well, I've got plenty, and they didn't really have any on sale per-se more like slap a bright sticker on it that says sale and people are dumb enough to fall for it....and they do every time. A lot of prices actually went up during the "Sale"....and a lot of that stuff is still sitting there too.
The Milwaukee tool deals sucked this year.
They were all MEH… 😂
