    A really useful guide - many thanks. In my system there appear to be two sizes of the conical rubber washer, both for 40mm pipe O.D. The larger washer as supplied in the general purpose kit from Screwfix is more prevalent, but there are two other conical washers that have a slightly smaller O.D. So beware of this little pitfall...

    Is basin waste same format and structure as a standpipe and waste for a washing machine? I have a leak from the standpipe to the waste pipe and it only has a blue seal inside and no black washer. Can that be right?

    • @dereton33
      @dereton33  4 місяці тому +1

      Yes that is right. You can fix it by taking it out and using plumbers mait for the washer instead.

    Have a telescopic waste already but need even more reach. Bought an adaptor/coupler but it's not compatible. Any other options?

    • @dereton33
      @dereton33  4 роки тому +1

      No best to alter the waste pipe to fit it. you can get flexi short lengthts that can bend and fit lots of situations.

      I had a similar problem. The telescopic pipe didn't quite reach for a secure fit, so I used a coupling to make up the shortfall. McAlpine do them them in 1,2 and 3 inch lengths. Not sure, why it didn't work for you.
