Will said that he can only feel 001 when he is in Hawkins
So the painting could be a vision but it could possible also be something he painted cause he missed playing DND with the party... which can also be a foreshadow of a fight against a dragon since there's 3 types of dragons in DND(According to Google)
Maybe in S5 there will be a monster based on one of those dragons?

I love this theory! Plus they toatally framed him the same way as Henry in season 4. He had so many parallels to Vecna it can’t just be coincidences.

I think that would be cool to see. Seems like a crazy and very strong power making your own dragon. I'm also hoping Will gets a decent or cool haircut this time lol. I don't know if I believe fully the it started with Will and it will end with Will thing. It just kind of feels like a spoiler some if it's true. Maybe it's a false answer so viewers will be surprised at the ending. I mean a lot of fans are looking closely at the details so. I don't know, I don't fully trust the writers at this point. They are sus to me.

I think that the Upside Down is frozen November 6, 1983 because Will has some sort of projection abilities and he made a copy of Hawkins manifest in the Upside Down. That manifestation is the reason for his psychic connection and why he could no longer feel things when he was away from Hawkins. It’s also why I believe the Russians couldn’t truly open a gate or keep a gate open in Russia or the mall. There is no manifestation of Russia in the Upside Down and the mall didn’t exist yet in 1983.
I think it’s very possible that Will could create a monster to fight Vecna. My personal theory is that he and Max are going to break Vecna’s hold on the hive mind and that will weaken him enough for El to take him out.
I don’t see Will becoming evil. The most negative emotion he’s expressed is frustration. The most excessively militant Mileven shippers seem to be convinced that Will is secretly a mustache twirling villain intent on destroying El- perhaps they feel threatened by how convincing the Mike queer coding videos are. But I personally don’t ship Byler or Mileven because I think Will and El deserve better than Mike. I also think that Jonathan and Steve deserve better than Nancy. The Duffers seem to be treating the Wheelers like Stephanie Meyer treated the Cullens- no actual manifestation of the events of the series in their lives and they aren’t really held accountable for selfish actions while other less privileged characters suffer disproportionately.
Anyway, I don’t see Will becoming evil. He has superficial similarities with Henry, but take away being described as a sensitive child and having a scene where they draw the Mind Flayer, they are completely different. Will is an empath. He has people he loves and who love him. Henry never loved anyone. Will may feel heartbroken and fear that Mike would reject him, but he still works for Mike and El’s happiness. Henry is a self described predator. His behavior is predatory. There were sexual assault vibes when the Mind Flayer-Henry’s shaping of existing particles- possessed Will, when Billy whispered “don’t worry it’ll all be over soon to Heather and El before Flayings and before he “consumed” the four victims in season 4.

Liked it as always. It would be epic af if the Duffer brothers gave us the most amazing of foreshadowing. I am torn between wanting Will to have the power to destroy Vecna and the Upside Down or controlling the whole thing. If the Upside Down gets destroyed, there'll be no ideation of Eddie. I can't live without some form of Eddie. *cough* Kas *cough.
