In episode 67 of Whisky in SV, I did a blind tasting of the Old Forester SiBBP Rye against a Jack Daniel's SiBBP Rye. Both of these products are from Brown-Forman, and are what I would describe as "bourbon-lover's ryes" meaning the dominant flavor is sweet and confectionery notes instead of dill or pine notes. Overall, despite having a blocked nose from allergies, I was easily able to tell the Jack Daniels apart. However, I also concluded that they are close enough in profile that given the fact that the Jack Daniels is way more available recently, I would easily recommend it over the Old Forester. Having said that, just because of its rarity, if you ever come across the Old Forester at MSRP, be sure to pick it up! #whiskyinsv • #WhiskyInSV 067: Blind...

They are both very aggressive and hot initially.. but I like JDBPR MORE.. GREAT REVIEW!

Had a friend find the OF SiBBP Rye at MSRP up in the Santa Rosa area for me last month, but haven't cracked it yet. Definitely much easier to find the JD, and I LOOOOOVE the JD SiBBP Rye, but didn't even think to compare them since they are both B-F products!
