Part 2 of 4: Elec Man (continued), Ice Man, Fire Man, and Bomb Man.
Highlights include a few close calls over a huge bottomless pit, a just-about-perfect fight against Ice Man using the Plasma Blaster, more explanations about why the bosses are vulnerable to certain special weapons, cool tricks with Thunder Beam, and a little bit of skillful enemy avoidance.

Funny watching your old stuff, I see the shape of what your channel would become, but it's also clearly quite an early attempt. Your play becomes flashier and your commentary gets tighter and more comedy focused. Honestly this gets me so nostalgic.

Actually, a cool glitch with elec man to beat him buster only is face the right side of the screen coming into the boss room, don't do anything from the start and elecman will raise his arms to fire, so now shoot, but only shoot once, or else the pattern won't work, after that he'll get knocked back, then come back up, raise his arms, and hit him again. Keep doing this until he is defeated. This strategy isn't perfect because it's kind of easy to mess up the pattern, but it's a way to beat him buster only

I eventually discovered that by accident in The Wily Wars, and I've seen the video you're talking about. Fascinating stuff.
I believe the main reason as to why ice man is weak to thunder beam is due to ice man himself; in order to prevent his circuits being damaged from the extreme temperatures which he would explore, dr light used extremely small but strong circuits for iceman's power system- however, this meant that the power system was extremely super-conductive, meaning even the smallest electrical shocks would cause huge damage to ice mans system.

in powered up the remake of megaman 1 they gave iceman a split personality between a soldier and a sergant
Ncs, will you ever play through megaman 10 as protoman? Ive recently ben watching some of your old megaman playthroughs and you said you might possibly play the game as him.
Hey GeminiLaser, you ever gone to Ice Man's stage first before? Theres tons of situations where Ice Slasher is really usefull if gotten early on.
As I have mentioned elsewhere, I believe those background balls on sticks to be robotic trees.
Really liking the commentary lol. Good guide too, a lot of what you said is something I experienced a lot as a kid and just as you said about the difficulty on some of those levels.

@legomario 9:35, I found a neat glitch at this part where you can get Sniper Joe into one of those crevices and he will rumble all over the place in that small crevice, and if you go left while he's doing it, he will go right through the wall off the screen.
I used to call the UFOs in Bomb Man's stage flying burgers when I was younger. The thing is that I still can't remember their name.
If you slow things down around 7:19 once the pickup from Fire Man is picked up, the fire on the ground turns into some glitchy backwards text for a couple frames, which is interesting.
Magnet beam feels a little broken, right? So many areas which would be challenging are made almost trivial. I guess that's par for mega man games, though - with so many bosses being pushovers when you have the magic weapon.

It's definitely an incredibly powerful tool, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that it's broken. In general, the utilities and weapons in Mega Man are supposed to feel a little overpowered; part of the fun is earning the option to breeze through parts that used to give you trouble. I think it's more to do with the open level design here. If you swapped out Magnet Beam for Rush Coil and Rush Jet in this game, it probably wouldn't make that much of a difference-you could still bypass the entire second half of Ice Man's stage, for example.
I think those background things in Bombman's stage are power plants, like Elecman's stage.
@GeminiLaser as much as i hate to go against you.... the only reason i like winter is because i can stay inside and catch up on my gaming. but with ice stages its a whole different story. less grip=more challenging. moon walking=cool. colours=nice to look at.

So, after the Ice Man Power Hour in the Megathon, the footholder section is incredibly impressive. How many tries did it take?
Hah! I don't recall how may tries it took, but I'm pretty sure I recorded this whole video series in about a week, so obviously not that many!
I like to think of the big ball things on sticks in Bombmans background as metal trees, not as missile silos, buildings, or giant lolipops for giant robots

@GeminiLaser Great walkthrough! However, a little tip: on the first set of disappearing blocks in Iceman's stage, you can jump from the first block that appears to the third (right before the first block disappears) and do the same from the third block to the fifth, and jump normally to six then seven. There are fewer long jumps that way.
Technically, electricity will only kinda work against ice if there's a film of water on it. Electric currents can only pass through a conductor if the electrons can move freely. In ice, those electrons are going to have a hard time doing so.

the things in the back ground look like upside down bombs with long fuse ropes, and so far I've seen 3 enemies that are in mega man 8
I like to imagine that Bombman has unlimited bombs in his pants and when you hit him with Fireman's power and it ignites the unlit bombs and hurts him.
I always enjoy snow and ice themed levels in video games; from Mega Man to Mario to Zelda... someone should make a tribute to ice stages.

when I fight elecman I touch him on purpose because the damage of contact is much inferior to the thunder beam and using the invincibility you can safely hit him 3 times with the scisors
Yeah, that's a good boss strategy to use-if you're gonna get hit anyhow, you might as well take the least amount of damage.
@GeminiLaser I've seen the video of the guy killing elec man without getting hit at all using the normal weapon, he said the boss and level are still very hard because timing and positioning is precise (you have to be facing elec man right when the battle starts) and the hazards of the level in general.
Almost as impractical as Dr. Wily building MASSIVE fortresses at least nine times over? How about Megaman taking the long route to Dr. Wily's hideout each time? Perhaps Doctor Light withholding valuable upgrades until Mega Man has the right amount of Bolts?
I love the series, I do, but there are a lot of things that are cool yet impractical :-).

Hyper Bombs actually seem to do sufficient damage against Ice Man. The challenge is living long enough to throw enough to kill him.

Gemini, I'n icemans stage, the first platform you have to wait for the third 1 to appear THEN wait again after the 4th platform you can skip 5th and go to the last 2. That's how I beat him. P.s HI if u remember me, I beat all robot masters! :D now the yellow devil.....UGH

The first time I ever fought elecman I beat him with just the buster and thought he was easy. I have never been able to do it again since
Ice man is weak to Elec man's weapon because Ice man's circuitry had to be made of really small parts to be able to function in extreme cold. Because of this, he can be easily incapitated by electrical charges.
maybe those metal balls are testing chambers made of hephaestus. PORTAL 2 REFERENCE.

You'd think if Dr. Wily can basically mass produce those Protoshields for so many of his Sniper Joe models he'd just make all his bosses out of that same metal, or at least not make the have super exploitable weaknesses. I mean it's not like he couldn't give em cool weapons, & make them not vulnerable to each other. 🙄

Cut man or bomb man's stage are my favorites in this game. The music is the best. Elec Man stage was boring to look at with an ugly color.
Winter is actually my favorite season, I like the cold, and I hate pollen and grass. I despise ice physics and foot holders, though.

Dang! Only if we have "E tanks" in the original mega man it would be so much easier to beat Elecman!
the ultimate question: Did you ever finish Elecman (the actual boss at his original stage) without Cutman and done so without getting hit? I've playing Megaman 1 for about 20 years (not all the time obviously), finished the game hundreds of times.. but never ever even dared to face Elecman with the normal weapon. You don't fuck with Elecman!
I did an interesting run, Fire Man, Bomb Man, Guts Man, Cut Man, Ice man and Elec man.
Technically water is not a conducter it's all the rubbish in the water so really maybe Ice Man just short ciruits easier?

Pardon me, but I'd like to say that I know of an easier way to defeat Elec Man...if you haven't already learned it by now. All you need is the buster to do it, too. First, make sure you're facing right when you're on the ladder. Then, when Elec Man goes forward and raises his arms, fire ONE shot. He'll flinch and be unable to attack. He'll come forward again and raise his arms. Shoot him. Rinse and repeat until he's dead. Trust me, it works.

first time I fought fire man, I had ice slasher, and I couldn't dodge his attacks, so I just pressed B as fast as I was able, and I beat him.
Surprisingly, that's a great strategy!
