Mariano, you are a gentle person and kind soul. I'm very sorry to see and hear what you are going through. You have touched your fans in a manner that goes beyond poker. We all wish you well. Whether you take off two days, two weeks, or even two years, you can count on the vast majority of us here waiting for you. Likewise, if you drop down in stakes, the channel will be no less interesting. It's you and your journey that interests us. Be well sir.

@Rampage nice win bro, look forward to seeing the upswing on your channel. Unfortunate that it was against your buddy but, poker be like that sometimes......the felt is a battlefield.
After watching that outro, there is so much I want to say to Mariano, but I already give enough bad advice to another vlogger.....LOL. The one thing I will say to both of you since your both on this meteoric rise into high stakes is, make sure you truly understand and are comfortable with the variance that these high stakes bring. Like, people say they understand variance, but I don't think most understand the real magnitude, and even more so, the emotional effect negative variance has on you. It's all good during an upswing but, you could play perfect theoretical poker (which no one is) and be down hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars (even $1M+) at these high stakes and stack depths. Until it happens, it doesn't seem like its possible.......but the math associated with variance doesn't care.

Look Mariano I am not trying to be mean with my comment here but it's gotta be said. Like what the HECK ARE YOU DOING? That hand that you lost to Ethan was absurd!! You obviously are a skilled cash game player and have come a long way. But your ego has gone to your head. Bluffing off 35k for what reason? The irony is in your last vlog playing at Hustler you commented why you folded a hand on the turn - you had no draw no nothing and that kind of hand is not worth bluffing. But yet here you are days later doing the exact opposite. Betting 8k in a 6k pot on the turn with nothing because? Who on earth would think that is a good play when the turn did nothing to help you. In fact once Ethan called the flop and you whiffed the turn why bloat a pot you could be drawing dead on?!?! He could easily be slowplaying a set. What kind of bluff is this? Then the river comes and Ethan has obviously shown lots of strength to call you preflop, flop and a huge turn bet. Sometimes you have to give up and move on. The river bet was atrocious too, I literally almost threw up watching it. I think you're a good player but you still have a lot to learn and you need to start checking your ego at the door.

Hi Mariano, I've been a loyal watcher since the beginning and just wanted to provide some words of encouragement. Yeah it's tough to say they matter in downswings of this magnitude but I think it's a huge realization that you know you were running so far above EV in the beginning of the year. The inevitable downswing came and it hit hard. The risky, all-or-nothing type of plays that make you such a great player and worked out so frequently early this year seem to be going the opposite and blowing up in your face now, and that's just poker. We all face these swings, but the games you play in are making them huge. You're too good to not get it back and you will. A break would serve you well. Hope it's not too draining emotionally and you have a ton of courage for moving up as fast as you did. Maybe a slight step down would serve you well, but maybe you just need a few days/weeks off and you can go back to beating these huge games. Either way, best of luck as poker can be absolutely draining at times.

I dont get it bro, why do you feel bad?-- you're following your own bankroll management advice right? 30-50x your buy-in amt right?-- so you're poker bankroll was 1.2mil+ before this buy-in?-- right? If you are properly rolled, you shouldnt feel that bad. I am guessing you are getting staked at some of these higher limit games?-- you're a great player, but some of these jumps dont add up-- you're trajectory and rise in stakes just ismt realistic unless you're A.) Staked or B.) You're not bankrollinv REALLY shallow.
Secondly, get your mind right; its very difficult to climb back. Its weird going from 40k-50k buy-ins and wining 20k+, and dropping down to 5-10k buyins and winning a couple thousand. A lot of "pros" go broke during this transition as they try to speed up the process and skip some of the grinding-- fomt be that guy. Get properly rolled, and play the stakes the fit your roll. You're a young and GREAT player dont mess up your loker career. Goodluck.

Seems to me you bet wayyy too much. Works when you are coolering everyone and people fold big - these vlogs are sick but I think people have adjusted and your style is being exploited heavily and showing hand histories long term is huge - EV. One thing I hear you say all the time is "I would bet with Aces or my good hands so I am going to bet here with air" - this is not sound poker logic at all. You don't bet in these spots just because you would bet if you had a good hand lol... You can't come up with enough good hands to balance your bets (65-70% of the time you will have nothing). You are over betting pots with Ace high in 3-4 bet pots bro lol. This is a terrible turn and river line (flop bet sus too), you are always up against 10s jacks queens and literally only repping Kings and Aces. Why are you expecting people to fold overpairs to you??? Do you watch your own vlogs lol? Not a punt bluffing into tournament pros with air knowing they have overpairs looool...

Obviously something you already know, but when you play in nosebleed stakes games with a very aggressive style like you have, it really only takes a few spots where getting a call or a fold will determine how your month goes. seems your aggressive play has caught up to you. playing aggressive at 2/5 and 5/10 is one thing but taking that play to bigger steaks is not profitable imo. ppl have more money at the bigger steaks where the losses don't affect them like 2/5 and 5/10 players who are more conscious of their money. take a week or 2 off, regroup and come back fresh

A perfect line to take…on a great runout…but against the wrong opponent(Rampunts) who NEVER folds.
Im a chat pro for life so here is my 2 cents:
3bet to 2k vs a capable opponent. Ethan could have a variety of hands here but his range is actually pretty condensed after flatting the 3bet. If theres any time to size up I believe its on the flop, especially if repping AA/KK.
Now, over betting the turn opens a whole new can of worms as the opponent is now whittled down to sets, over-pairs, & an occasional club flush draw which would of most likely raised the flop. Any 2 pair combos are not possible or which are highly unlikely as the board is so dry and low- 2 pair would raise the turn as well in hopes to deny equity(get it in now) verses AA/KK which would be drawing to a paired board.
That in mind,(coupled with the fact that AA really isn’t a 3 streets of value hand considering most players hate to get their aces cracked so they pot control) - alarm bells should be going off after over betting the turn. Shoving the river is not a bad play AT ALL…in fact, I believe it is the correct play but just the fact that it’s Ethan & he called an overbet on the turn indicates he probably won’t fold to a river bet of any kind.
Its such a strong line though & if you were to make this call with JJ at the same frequency over the course of a larger sample of hands, you would most likely find yourself to be a losing player over time.
GG Mariano, bounce back & Exploit!!
I want to edit this bc of the ice cream sandwich. It always seems like the waiter ALWAYS brings you your shit right when you are battling for a massive pot. At least for me that is the case. Do you not move at all? should you move and grab the food/drink to feign strength? Or is that a sign of acting like you are strong but really are weak? Food for thought.

Hey man. A few years ago I played with you at the Gardens($2/$3), before you were a vlogger or anything. (I had hit the bbjp a few weeks prior, and you recognized me from that night so we got to chatting during the session.) Anyway, during the session I was getting smoked, and it was clear I was the fish at the table. But while some of the guys were needling me, you were giving me some insight on reads & bet sizing…mostly friendly banter, but it made the session less painful. I went home that night thinking about some of the insight you had given, and it had a real impact on my poker “career.” I started studying and taking it more seriously, and while Im still at the low stakes, I’m a much stronger player, and getting to a point of reliable profitability at my level.
Anyway…I’m sorry it’s been a tough month on the felt. But it’s been a joy to watch your progress over the years, and it’s only reinforced my own love for the game. I know this message isn’t worth $200k, but hopefully it helps put a bit of a smile on your face. Im sure I’m not the only one who watches your videos thinking, “I remember when I played with him at $2/$3! Good dude, pumped to see his success!”

@@SiddharthaKusukuntla Yeah... it was a pretty poor river bluff IMHO. If he's calling on the turn he is going to call down a large % of the time on river. I'd imagine it's some frustration getting to him and wanting to force down pots...

at 10/5 you also had the option to downbet really tiny on the turn. he either has to checkraise now which opens future traps to reraise or keep you in the betting lead.
specially against recreational player a way to prevent larger leads for cheap showdowns, we dont really wanna start bluffcatching with the bottom of our range (please tell me its the bottom lol)
