Amazing! Super helpful! Thank you! :)
You're very welcome!
That was a great explanation! It helped to clear it up for me…. Thanks!!
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent test. I really have wondered about this. Thank you so much for testing it. The only other question I have about the defocusing is if it has any other effects on the laser itself. I can't imagine what or how it would affect the laser in any way, but I am not a physicist (or whatever title studies lasers) so am constantly surprised by things I simply did not know or could not understand until it was explained to me. Thoughts?
Thank you! I'm not an optical scientist either so I can't speak with authority on what effects this may have on the module itself. I would think defocusing further away wouldn't cause any issues but focusing closer might have some concern with more heat build up near the lens. Probably still negligible though.
@@LetsMakeAThing Awesome. That is pretty much the conclusion I came to. I never really defocus it closer. But I do like doing it slightly farther away since you video showing the results without borax. Grew tired of the mess Borax created with soot.
Is regular wood a good analog? Seems to me that the variation in grain would be an issue. That could explain the slightly defocused engraving being deeper than fully focused. Perhaps MDF would have more consistent density.
Good idea! I'll have to give that a test.
"There is also a lot of spelling and grammar errors" - ironic.
Great video though!
