Sting was a member of the British rock band The Police and one of their hits was Roxanne - you should give it a listen in order to understand why Phoebe shouted to Ross : "Ross can" that way 😆 and yes it is Sting's wife, Trudie
Omg I feel so stupid, I've heard that song a thousand times and watched the episode a thousand and one and it's just now reading your comment that I understand the joke for the first time 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ never made the connection. Loool
In terms of their rent don’t forget that the apartment is rent controlled because it’s Monica’s grandmothers who she is illegally subletting so the rent would be significantly cheaper than what it would be normally. Still and insane amount to spend on boots.
@@alicequinn505 I guess we assume that Chandler’s job pays well enough to afford the building and it does seem to be a bit smaller than Monica’s apt. and does not have the addition of that “balcony” which Monica’s has.
Everytime Ross & Phoebe are together they always have such great chemistry. I think it's fitting for them. Ross is like the 3rd wheel in the Chandler & Joey friendship & Phoebe is like the 3rd wheel with Monica & Rachel friendship. So they connect really well.
Nick...awwww...almost completely missing The Police jokes. They are a pretty famous band, after all. The cast keeps making jokes singing "Ross can" as a play on "Roxanne" which was one of their biggest hits. Trudie Styler is his wife and, yes, she is the person who makes the guest appearance.
This was the year 2001 or 2002...so at that point Brad had already starred in movies like Se7en, Fight Club, 12 Monkeys, Legends of the fall, Interview with the vampire and many more. So yeah he was really famous! 🥰🥰
21:14 Yes. More importantly, it's *_the band Sting was in._* Also, 16:19 / 23:00 is parodying their song "Roxanne", and that really is Sting's wife, Trudie Styler, playing herself. (So both these episodes had celebrity guest stars. Styler does quite well, but Brad Pitt has one of the most hilarious guest star stints of the entire show imo.)
"Early bird dinners" are something restaurants used to offer (maybe some still do?), often in areas where retirees lived. Usually scheduled between 4 and 6 PM, the prices would be much lower. My grandmother loved early bird dinners. I attended many when I visited her. 😂
It's actually true that body parts can grow during pregnancy and not go back to their original size. Noses, feet, hands, boobs, etc. I can do without turkey. I don't usually eat it at Thanksgiving.
I watched a video recently that was doing like an audit of each FRIENDS character's finances and they mentioned that Monica's rent was $200 (idk where this number came from, I know she mentions once or twice in the show that her apartment is rent controlled and still in her grandma's name to stay at a low price but I don't remember if they ever say the exact amount in the show... but that's the number I see in multiple places online for whatever reason)
re: turkey- my daughter decided at age 8 that she never wanted to eat turkey, because "they are stupid and really cute". We did not have turkey at Thanksgiving for another 14 years! Which is sad, because my husband and I both really like it, lol. We had a lot of non-traditional dinners- all Greek food, lasagna, salmon, and Thai food among them.
Man there are some designer boots that are thousands of dollars... In New York, I can see that. Also, I think Brad Pitt and Jen Anniston were married when they filmed that episode. He was one of the best and funniest cameos ever 😂
Dina's boyfriend Bobby reminds me of Phoebe's brother, Frank Jr., played by Giovanni Ribisi. I personally love turkey, not in an obsessive way, more in a health way. I eat a lot of turkey and chicken because they're high in protein, and they don't have carbs or sugar, which as a diabetic, is very important to keep blood sugar low.
Lots of comments about Brad Pitt, which was a fun appearance. But I want to shout out Bobby. That actor's delivery of absurd lines was so earnest. Hilarious.
My mom and I do turkey wings, but we also do ham and brisket... and mac n cheese, string beans or collard greens, yams, cornbread, stuffing, cranberry sauce, rice... cake, sweet potato pie, peach cobbler... and it's only me and her
“How famous was Brad Pitt at the time?” He was literally the most famous person on the planet there was no one in the universe bigger than Brad Pitt lol. And he and Jen were married at the time and probably the biggest couple to ever exist
When i was 30 I moved to live with my grandfather to take care of him and maintain his ranch. He lived in the countryside outside a small town. Our first Thanksgiving together, I took him to the grocery store to get a turkey. I walked up to the section of the store that had turkeys and there was like 20 people crowed around the turkeys. My grandfather walked up and saw the situation and then looked the other way and said..... "there ain't nobody fighting over the Mexican food" and for the next 10 years I made homemade enchiladas and refried beans for Thanksgiving.
Yeah this was well after Pitt got big. Interview With The Vampire came out in like 94 or 95. And he got noticed even earlier with his part in Thelma And Louise.
Regarding Monica's willingness to buy that Chandler and Phoebe were watching the match, I think there are two opposing forces at work there. 1. She knows there are a lot of things to be done and she is sort of a control freak, so she feels compelled to give them chores so she manages to get everything ready. 2. Monica is only pleased with Monica's work. Every time she delegates a chore she dies a bit inside because she knows it won't be as good as if she had done it all herself. So the match is a compromise. She can tell herself she "would" have delagated, but oh, bad luck, they *really* wanted to watch that. I mean it's not like I'm projecting or anything... it's not like my mother did this my whole childhood and then as an adult I started doing the exact same thing... me? See myself in Monica? No, not at all, I'm super chill😂😂😂
I don't have strong feelings about turkey as a food, but I have very strong feelings about them as an animal! A family down the street from me had turkeys and goats, and when I was in high school they would pay me to take care of them while they were on vacation. The goats were super sweet, but that male turkey was awful!!! So territorial. Once, when I was pulling leaves off the trees to feed the goats, he attacked me from behind- a 30 lb turkey landing talons first on the small of my back!! After that my dad had to come with me and distract him while I took care of the goats. So, honestly, even if I ever decided to become a vegetarian on the moral grounds of not eating animals, I think I could still make an exception for turkey with a clear conscience ;)
We don't have Thanksgiving... but on National Day, Easter, Christmas we eat sober like the other days... sometimes with meat, sometimes vegetarian... somtimes cold brunch, other times warm dinner...
Yeah hun, The Police is the band Sting was in 😂 I completely forgot about that storyline with Phoebe trying to get tickets until seeing this video that's hilarious
Friends trivia: in the episode where Joey modelled for the Gonorrhoea posters, there's a montage and the song playing is 'Don't Stand So Close To Me' by The Police...the band Sting was leader singer of (you know this now, from the 100s of comments lol - I'd definitely recommend listening to their song 'Roxanne' and then the clips of Phoebe and Ross saying "ROOOOOOOSS can!" 🤣).
Brad Pitt should be given a special Emmy for great TV cameos. Should check out his voice over cameo in King of the Hill. Also, it's not uncommon at our household to have a Ham or a Roast Beef on Thanksgiving.
I LOVE Turkey. Chicken and lamb however. Never ever again and I wouldn’t miss either Another great couple of limes we still use. “Take your shirt off and tell us all about it!” 😂😂😂 and “cut me a real piece” 😂😅
This is my favorite Thanksgiving on Friends. 🎉🎉🎉 The audience reaction when he appears in the doorway and all of Phoebe's interactions! You gotta watch Thelma and Louise to see Brad Pitt's debut as The Cowboy...caution, adult themes and violence.
Pitt and Anniston were married during this episode and it's funny they were made to hate each other. It makes me really like the dynamic in the show It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia since there are multiple married couples on that show.
4:26 Best line of the episode 4:39 Second best! Brad Pitt won an Emmy for his guest appearance. This is one of my favorite episodes in the entire series! One year we got like 5 turkeys from my husband's customers. That was a yummy, yummy year 😋 🦃
I have a recipe book for friends foods that has the recipe for his turkey sandwich. I would send it to you if I knew how. I eat ham every Thanksgiving (and Christmas and easter) love ham, I'll make different kinds brown sugar, Dr pepper, pineapple.

The fact that Brad and Jennifer were married when he starred in this episode just makes it so much funnier. And yes, he was already super famous.
In hindsight everyone Jennifer knew telling Brad how hot he is wasn’t a good idea…
@@sarasamaletdin4574i couldn’t agree more

I love odd couples like Phoebe &Ross and Rachel&Chandler Monica&Joy ...they have only a few episodes but they work great together🎉🤩
It’s kind of sad that Ross is the third wheel in the Chandler/Joey friendship considering he and Chandler were friends first.

Early bird dinners are discount meals for the elderly served by some restaurants after midday to make extra money through the week.
Thanksgiving episodes are always great, but this may be the best one ever. "Here come the meat sweats...."
This one was really great. My favorite was when Ross & Monica went on a tattle-tale binge, and Phoebe ❤ed Jacques Cousteau.

Its also at 4 o'clock, much earlier than normal dinnertime.
