  • I was on a job to clear a pile of material and pull a few stumps and ended up finding a mess of a stump dump hole. Needless to say the job went on a bit of a tangent!
    Equipment Used:
    Excavator: 2022 Bobcat E42 R2-Series
    Skid Steer/CTL: 2021 Bobcat T66
    Grapple: MTL XT Series Root Rock Demolition Grapple 72"

    Brian, I see what you mean by needing a bigger excavator to go along with your Bobcat E26. A bigger/heavier machine gives you more leverage when dealing with stumps and larger rocks.
    You did a solid for the customer in digging out those slowly rotting stumps.

      Yeah, having 2x the hydraulic power plus 2x the weight results in a lot more leverage against those taproots and large boulders.

    If you do decide on the E42, the 4-way blade is a plus. A 6-way blade would be amazing. I have the 4-way on my E45. Nice for back-filling and minor grading work.

    Crazy how soft that land was at the first stump with the ripper.

      Ya the whole neighborhood on that side gets a lot of underground water from the hill they are on, so it is soft and wet all spring

    Hey man, was just wondering how many hours you’ve got on your t66 so far and how it’s been doing for ya

      I think im almost at 300 hours on it now. Its been running like a champ and I really like it. No problems so far, just a few cosmetic things Ive dinged up.

    I have been digging holes an burning
    In them to keep under control
    An have buried few things in them but no stumps

    Great job getting that much work done with the E26 takes a lot of patience. Do you mind if I ask what you do full time if you only do this part time
    Thanks keep the content coming

    Sir, nothing like horse power. Yes the 42 is a step up from your 26 but honestly I believe that the 26 could have done this job. It may have taken a bit more time but I honestly believe that the 26 will be able to handle about 80% of the jobs that you get yourself into. JMO, Ken

    Man, what a mess that turned out to be. Bet you’ll be back in a year or two when that stump dump settles some more. Don’t get to use to that bigger machine or you won’t want to let it go, lol.

    I didn’t understand where the water came from. Looks a lot better, anyway.

    • @CarlsonSonLandscapingLLC
      @CarlsonSonLandscapingLLC  2 роки тому +1

      Underground springs from the hill behind them. The neighbor's yard had that exact issue; However, the stump hole allowed for that water to get trapped.

    I know nothing of your craft, but the water has to be coming from somewhere? Ground water? If not could a culvert be used? That seemed like a lot of water

    • @CarlsonSonLandscapingLLC
      @CarlsonSonLandscapingLLC  2 роки тому +1

      I didn't get a clip of me saying it but that whole area has a lot of ground water from the hill it is on and it was bleeding into and getting trapped with all the stumps.

      @@CarlsonSonLandscapingLLC that was a mess for sure. You’ve spent a lot of time working those machines, great to watch an expert in action

    What do you think of a grinder attachment? Im looking at a Stumper 240. Do you think it would be worth the investment in this type of business?

    • @CarlsonSonLandscapingLLC
      @CarlsonSonLandscapingLLC  Рік тому

      I have an MTL grinder for my T66 and it works really well. I generally don't contract stump grinding only with it, since it's a lot of machine to move and run for just that. But it is extremely useful on jobs where I can't pull a stump that is in the way.

    • @PremiumFuelOnly
      @PremiumFuelOnly Рік тому

      @@CarlsonSonLandscapingLLC Do you think you see enough stumps to warrant a separate stump grinder machine?

    • @CarlsonSonLandscapingLLC
      @CarlsonSonLandscapingLLC  Рік тому

      I could likely get a self propelled grinder and find plenty of work for it, but I don't enjoy doing that enough to justify having a dedicated machine.
