    This was extremely helpful, thank you! I ADORE my GreenWorks gardening tools as they have been a life-changer for me while caring for my landscaping at home.
    In addition to this 60v string trimmer, I also have the blower, the pole saw and hedge trimmer combo. They all have been equally as useful and no restricting cords!! 😎

      @@kitsurubami How cool! I would love to learn how to charge things using solar, how expensive was the set up you have? I need to find a video on how exactly to do that.

      @@Lorilee369 At first I tried to learn how to do it from videos. There are plenty, but it was always a little too much for me. What I ended up doing was buying a "portable power station" This is lithium ion batteries + a solar charge controller + an inverter. The one I bought cost 400$ and has 500 watt hour capacity. The inverter in it produces 300 watts AC. Then I bought the cheapest 100 watt solar panel I could, 80$ delivered. The power station could accept a 2nd solar panel, but one panel gives me more than enough energy. I live in Texas, and as you may have heard our electrical grid is very unreliable. I also bought this power station to power an electric blanket if we lose our power again next winter. Let me know if you have any questions!

    For the last 18 months I've not let the lawn crew edge or use a weed eater in my back yard. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG I didn't like the fact that they just kept cutting the edge of the lawn further and further from the rock lining the flower beds and leaving bare ground. And the grass was trimmed or scalped several feet around trees, etc. It was a constant battle with them so I told them to just mow and no trimming. I have Zoysia grass so it grows pretty slow. Obviously after a while it could use some trimming. I'm in my 80's so I can't do much of it myself.Finally I decided that if I could find a lightweight battery powered trimmer I might be able to do some light trimming. I decided to buy the LST201 20V trimmer. And it works great for my needs. I have back yard with about 150' of flower beds and several trees to be trimmed. I can lightly trim the whole yard with a single charge! The grass I trimmed was only a few inches high but the trimmer was more powerful than I expected.

    The string on my new weed wacker got stuck, and when I pulled off the spool, it completely unraveled. I couldn’t figure out how to restring it for the life of me. Thanks for showing me how! One thing, though-when it unraveled, the string wasn't in two pieces. It was one continuous piece. It wrapped around the middle divider, forming a U-shape. The divider has a notch that locks the string into place, automatically aligning it with the arrow. This made restringing the spool easy. But getting the cap back on without it completely unraveling again was a son of a gun!

    • @easlandscaping

      Yes, the one piece of string thing is a better way! I just bought two Ego trimmers and they self feed by clicking a button, winds the single string into place.

  • @jimm.4864

    A much easier way. 1). Cut 15-feet of line (recommended amount by Greenworks). 2). Fold the line in half (one side can be a bit longer if you don't want to waste any line). 3) Wrap the line, one in each channel. 4). stick one end in each outside cutout. This will hold the string in place while you place the reel back in the housing. Once in the housing, take each string end out of the cutout and run it through the openings in the housing. Done.

    Excellent video and I can't remember if I've posted this extra tip or not. Towards your last steps, you don't have to hold the string to thread it through the outside holes or battle the string unwinding. On the string housing there's two small holes cut into the outside rim on the string housing. Those holes line up with the trimmer outer housing holes. The key is you have to leave enough string so that the string reaches those holes on opposite sides of the ring. Snap your string into those holes before securing the outside housing into the outer ring. Feed the string through the outer housing then give it a little tug to detach it from the inner ring and you are good to go! If you want, you can cut the string so that the outside feed lengths are even.

After the string is wound up on the spool, how to manage the ends, in which notch/direction does each line go? There are nubs that can be used to hold the string in place, that I did not use, as I held it with my fingers, but the line needs to stay wound around the spool AND the string needs to exit out of those holes, and the cover needs to be popped on. That goes onto the tool and gets "clicked" into place. I hope that is clearer, and thanks for watching the video.

    You don't have to cut the string into 2 parts, just cut 20ft and put the middle in the split ring. Second you put the two ends into the two cut outs on the bottom ring, that holds them to go in place as you put the cap on

      Hi Sarah- are you trying to get the head or cover off? There are tabs you need to depress to yank the cover off, then tge spool sits inside of the housing, is that what you are trying to do?

    this is helpful. I am looking to replace the part attached to the base with the tabs that are sticking up and secure the cover. Shown at 1:15 in the video. These tabs have broken off so I do not have a way to secure the cap and spool onto the trimmer head . Any suggestions or ideas of finding a replacement part? Thanks

    5-29-22, (i guess youtube dont like links into comments) this is my "GreenWorks 2111802 40V 15 inch Cordless String Trimmer, do i feed it the same way as you are showing us ?, mine is slightly newer than your date on the video. the date on the box 12-03-20. if there is alot of double posting, its not me, its youtube site being funky, sorry about that.

    • @easlandscaping

      Hi Karen- I believe it is the same feed but not 100% sure. There’s always more than 1 way to successfully restring a trimmer. Greenworks seems pretty consistent with their models so hopefully it is the same feeding method. Good luck.

      Hi Steven - both will work. I have strung .095 Hipa string, super thick, and that works. The .065 is easier to work with and is fine for trimming normal grass and weeds. Glad the video helped.

    My problem is that the cover is so stiff that I can't get it off. I have the 48V trimmer, but it probably works the same way. I had the opposite problem on my Black & Decker. The cover was so loose that it came off as soon as I tried to use it.

    • @SteveGoldfield
      @SteveGoldfield Рік тому +1

      I managed to get the cover off. The 48V only has one channel. I had lots of string left. Apparently, it wasn't feeding, though I kept bumping it while I was using it. Difficult to get it back in place, but I've managed to do that. I'll see whether it still works. It doesn't look like you can re-string it.

    • @easlandscaping
      @easlandscaping  3 роки тому

      That’s a good question. Check on Amazon or even Craigslist to see if someone has a spare head. String trimmers are made very poorly and they do tend to fall apart after one season. Good luck with your search.

    Does anyone else think this is the most remedial way to design a trimmer head system? My god, we had better tech in the 80's for trimmers than this insanely stupid design. Thanks for the vid. Going to use up my line and look for something not designed by someone in a Mexican insane asylum.
