I bought mine "used" for 275.00 dollars. I replaced the stock speaker with a Celestion Creamback and it took away that honky nasal sound. I also play it with a Strymon Riverside distortion with one setting on an edge of breakup sound and the favorite with a high gain one. Sounds great!
You get a big thumbs up just for having the guts to play differently than how everyone else plays these demos. Sounds great. nice playing and thanks for sounding unique and not like everyone demoing stuff on the web! This should be a million hit video. Have a great holiday.
Bought one for an on the go/bedroom alternative to my AD30 2x12 Absolutely LOVE this amp Never getting rid of it and considering buying another next year
I just picked one of those today, and same thing, that annoying resonance around the same note! So I replaced the no-name power tubes with a pair of matched Russian NOS tubes, and plugged a Friedman cab with a 12" Celestion Greenback into it and the weirdness went away. Overall, it's not quite my cup of tea either; maybe it sounds too much like an Orange :) Thanks for the great video, Elmo!
Fabulous playing, Elmo. This Orange Rocker 15 sounds muddy to me. A lot of Orange amps have this same mud, in my own selfish opinion. I'd consider it for a $350 price. I do like the Dark Terror, though.
Yep, it sounded muddy as hell. I think most Orange amps have that sound though. I came across one for sale in U.S. at $499, so looked up some videos. I think it's a waste of money above $250 as it has very limited use. I have a tiny Line 6 amp for practice that sounds way better IMO and bought used for $75. I am looking at the Mesa Boogie Fillmore 50, which has a great clean and dirty sound - I know it's a bigger amp and out of the league of this one, but if you're going to spend $799, you might as well move up to a better amp.
I am a huge fan of big Orange amps but not so much of the smaller variety. The smaller speakers really do not work well to my ear with the 'Orange' sound which is a shame as the idea of a bedroom sized Orange is appealing. In my impoverished state it's way too expensive anyway :).
I have an or15 with a PPC112 and it gives you tons of that Orange sound everyone loves, I'd say its still too loud for bedroom use though if you want to truly crank the volume. I usually leave it on 7 watts, crank the preamp and can only get a few notches up without annoying the whole household. A 1x12 works fine for Orange sound tho, as long as its closed back and a deep cab imo.
Did you talk about the switch on the back that takes the volume down to 1 or 1/2 watt power level? Very useful for bedroom practice. Humbuckers would have been nice too.
Gotta watch Ola's vid of the head... It's essentially the same amp, just in combo form. Need to plug this into a cab. I mean, who runs those crappy Orange speakers anyways... Killer tones with different cabs man!
King Elmo!! Your playing steller as always, but man the all tube Orange OR-15 head (even though single channel) blows this amp away..I mean unless yours is defective, the Orange OR-15 head has much more musical overdrive and plenty of it for metal IMO, also sounds nice clean...you need to give that one a go, Bruce.
Everything... "Lost due to compression." I have a few anti-compressants you can have, with COVID isolation the meds aren't really helping me much anyway.
Great channel - really appreciate the honest reviews. I bought this amp hoping it would replace my trusty Tiny Terror and 1*12 cab with a lighter option + FX loop. Big disappointment though when I took it to rehearsal which is mainly down to the 1*10 speaker, it just doesn't cut it for me and sounded nowhere near as nice as my other Orange. Good for home use, but I would have been better off modifying my Terror amp with an FX loop. Hoping it sounds better through my 1*12 - will be finding out next week...
I never seen someone tune his guitar in less than 2 seconds ! How did you do that ?! 😅 Jokes aside Keep going dude ! And please do another video on weird ways to play guitar ! Cheers from France.
I really like the orange stuff I've tried. Thanks brother. Hope you and yours are well.. I was in the hospital, and man, being sick with pneumonia sucks about as bad as it possibly could! 😂 Take care my winter wonderland friend!!! 🤟🤟🤟🤟💘🤟💘💘💘💘
looks nice :) but too much money! For practice I use blackstar fly3 or vox amplug 2 lead. Second one is really good if you don't want to annoy people around you and it sounds really really great :D
15:02 inspite of your guitar being such an expensive custom strat, it goes out of tune at the slight use of the wammy bar. Just pointing this out since you mentioned in your review of a squire strat that you didn't think that it would hold tune if you give it some wammy. goes to show that its not really the smartest choice paying a lot of money for a premium guitar over an economical one...... Also have your considered guitar equipped with a locking tremelo ?
That's no surprise seeing as the strings are as old as my jokes, and I haven't serviced the guitar in ages. I have a few guitars with locking trems. They're fine. Just prefer a more Strat style thing most of the time.
Slt Elmo, Tu vois tu parles très bien Français 😉 "Il a un je ne sais quoi ?" Tu es vraiment aussi surprenant que tes excellentes vidéos... Merci le Finlandais !!!
The Marshall shirt makes it look like you’re trying to give a not so positive review on this amp. This is the only negative video on this amp that I have seen.
@@MrPolevaulter I’m looking to purchase a home studio low watt all tube amp. There are so many choices that I’m getting frustrated. There is a amp that is made in Florida US called a ValveTrain but they’re pricy. Buying a lower budget amp you have to upgrade speaker. Most come stocked with Celestion Seventy 80. Any recommendations? My style is jazz Rock fusion and Ambient.
One of the worst amps I've ever tried. Natural channel sounds well.. but not a great thing. I guess the small speaker is a huge reason.. at least Rocker 15 Terror sounds great on every demo. Do you had a chance to compare?
good review, shitty amp ... aside from the price point, it doesn't do magic when you boost it with a pedal it just sounds more compressed and unusable.... I can't remember who of the famous rockstar guitar players even plays Orange amps
$800.00 for a 15-watt combo? Hell no, thanks! That seems like a session-player price point for a 15-watter. It's not loud enough for real gigs, but it's too loud for bedroom practicing. Garage practicing and studio gigs seem like the sweet spot for that "size" of amp, but do you _really_ want to spend $800.00 on an amp you're _only_ gong to use in the garage? Or would you rather save that $800.00 toward getting a killer-sounding full gig amp? Or spend a lot less for bedroom and garage practice amps? Does it have that magically great tone that would make it a session player's amp? With no EQ on the clean channel? Yeah, um, no. (However...on the used market, if their sellers aren't _too_ proud of them, it might be worthwhile to pick one up and have that one amp that covers the range in between bedroom practice and big-ish gigs, like small-ish bars or other rooms that aren't all that large.)
@Luke "Plus I think it sounds like ass" Ha-ha! Well, fair enough. Personally, I thought it sounded fairly good, but nowhere near good enough to justify spending $800.00 or more on an amp that has so little utility. I could spend a lot less for amps that sound just as good for practice or I could spend a bit more for amps that sound better for gigs. Why should I spend that much money on this one, now?

I can’t believe all the people shaming this amp in the comments. This thing is great. If you can’t pay 800 bucks for it, don’t complain about it lol
Many thanks for "I'll see the light tonight" it was unexpected and pleased to hear)) Love that riff to play and hear from others 😊

It's crazy how expensive these small amps are. This is $900 USD. It's tiny. Fender has 8" amps for more than this. Insane to me.

And a merry Christmas to you too! But how does it compare to the katana?🤐
Well...it's spelled with a "C". Kind of like the Code :D
do an OR15 next!

Glad you like them!

Don't know. Just something I did. It might be from somewhere.
Sound a bit like hammer to fall by queen
