Why does all these scaling solution sound like Rube Goldberg machines? Do you guys ever consider complexity creep and how it increases the surface area of attack?
Its been interesting seeing different ideas juggled on your show this last month... we will continue to watch things perform in the wild before jumping them into the BTC protocol, and hopefully we dont feel "forced" to make a change due to some unforseen problem in the future... its better if we evolve proactively rather than reactively... id rather not rely on events to bring about change. Dependence on circumstances induces a form of slavery. Theres so much to be optimistic about right now, which is why caution is an important trait to hold dear.
"So it removes the fact that Bitcoin is auditable then?" YES. It's a stonkingly bad idea to allow encryption on the base Bitcoin network. It should be public, completely, without caveat. People love making the same mistakes over and over again.
People should be able to opt-in to trustless strong privacy if they want to. You can keep your coins transparent if you want to, and they can encrypt their coins if they want to. Everyone can have what they want.
Increasing block size doesnt seem to be the solution to scaling rapidly, but as network data throughput, storage, and processing power increases how does increasing block size facilitate centralizing if the standard home computer is able to accomodate?
Why everything on base chain. I’d Much rather have that convenants upgrade then with which you can in a way share utxo’s and also be able to open lightning channels more privatley but more importantly more cheaply.
making the blocks bigger, or needing more compute, will sacrifice the ability of people with bad internet and lame hardware to run full nodes, there for giving up network decentralization. sounds like a really bad idea to me.
One problem is that you can’t hide your key strokes as you type. The OS knows what keys you are typing, so iOS and Android can still know what you are typing in your messages.
Fortunately, it's entirely open source so the creator is completely irrelevant since we can read the code ourselves to verify. Now apply that logic to the fiat monetary system of zero transparency and endless fraud. The real scam is the debt based economy with endless money printing.
This was an excellent talk, an hour was really not enough. Please bring John back for another episode!
Cool pod. Glad to see people trying to improve Bitcoin. And also to have new content discussed.

Exactly, build on second layers…

Great to see Sovryn on WBD.
We need to let people know that even owning as little as 0.2 BTC is worth it.
I would love to see ZK rollups on BTC. I hope someone can figure out how to do it safely as a soft fork sometime in the next few years.

it doesn't have to be on the base chain. could be offchain using a validity rollup or zkPCN.
Not sure I place the same value in bitcoin if I can’t audit 21 million, maybe consensus will prove me wrong, but that’s where I’m at.
How do you audit how many L-BTC are on Liquid?
What a bright young man! lets shake up old dog dev community with fancy rollups!
Love Tool 💜
John Light, looking good old friend

Nice. Learned a lot.
I know the definition of UTXO. But why does the host use the term UTXO over bitcoin?
the act of managing your bitcoin, vs referencing bitcoin in general
Wow! Great talk. Thnx.
two of my family members are also john light. this is too many
What? This is a month old?
not convinced this is a viable solution moving forward
yeah sounds like a bad idea to me. but i'm just a simple youtube scrub.
audibility > privacy

It was zcash with the potential inflationary bug not monero
Bitcoin 🚀
I wonder has Peter always liked Tool or is it because rogan likes them 😂
Think of how many more millionaires and billionaires there are globally sonce 2008..its more than doubled across the board
Please never stop talking about self custody.
Thumbs down for liking Taylor Swift!...
Lol ask Tucker Carlson. Signal ain’t nothing. 🤷

Doesn't sovryn rely on a whole shitcoin model?
I wish bitcoin was more like Monero.
Its all a scam..keep your cash
🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑………who made BITCOIN……………if we don’t know then it’s a SCAM

Who invented the wheel? .... If we dont know then the wheel is a scam!! 😊
Satoshi Nakamoto, a person.
You’re stupid enough not to know what open source code mean!😂😂😂😂
who prints the money? ... if we don’t know then it’s a SCAM
