As a young kid I never really cared about race and it wasn't until I was older that I noticed that every time I watched a TV show that was an all black cast (sister sister, fresh prince, etc) My mom would ALWAYS say "turn off this garbage" but she would never say that when I watched the Brady Bunch or something. Kinda fucked up how our parents can skew our views when we're just innocent children who don't know better.
Joleen Reis People who are racist (both black and white) hide behind the (not a good person cluase) Check yourself You may not thing a kid is bad because they learn how to hide early in life
I disagree. They might be good parents in other areas. Teaching your kids to not be racist doesn't meen you're necessarily a good parent in all other relevant areas either.
As a child I saw no difference between races, gender, etc. which might have been due to me going to a very diverse preschool (preschool was my first time playing and meeting other children). I played with all the children in the preschool and my first perceptions of race became how I saw these people act. I believe that this is the healthiest way to introduce race to a child because they are learning what people are actually like before they ever hear the stereotypes. I have grown up as someone who to this day won't even think about race unless someone brings it up and as a result has treated everyone the same. While this is not going to work for everyone, it worked when my parents were raising me and it is one of the many reasons I am thankful for my parents.
When I I was younger I went to my friends birthday party alice in Wonderland I bought her a present a barbie doll I was younger than 8 she said I could come in her house shes pale and has blonde hair blue eyes I am brown So she tells me ill brb and walks away she comes back and says "do you want to play with the dolls in my room?" and out of the blue her mom tells us to "stay in the living room no going in the room" when she walks away shes whispers "Weird my mom always lets my friend payton (which she is pale and blonde hair) come in my room" I felt like crying but I didnt show it at the time
Dude wth you’re like the other people at my school I have a person at my school named Alex with blonde hair and pale skin and like grey or bluish eyes and her bestfriends is Payton or Peyton and she’s brown
My best friend in primary school was white, her parents let her come over to mine but I was never allowed over to theirs, my mum would say things like; "white people are weird and have no boundaries in their homes" I don't think it was due to racism but rather ignorance and fear, then in high school I would go to my white friends houses and it turns out it was like any other home in my community except they had dogs running around. I think it's fear that separates people, and sometimes it's good to go against our parents because they are from a wierd generation.
Humans are creatures of huge egos. We think that we are intelligent but we are way more likely to be the source of our own extinction than any natural causes.
@War Dog you are definitely part of the piece of crap that I was talking about. Get out of here with your idiotic, dumb brain. You have to be a pure idiot to judge a person based on melanin.
I'm n mixed but I grew up in a predominantly black/hispanic neighborhood. When I was in pre-school there was one girl there who was white and she was my best friend at pre-school. We did everything together. I remember one day we told each other that we were sisters and we each ripped out a strand of hair and put it on each others head and claimed to be sisters forever. I don't know if she moved out not but I never saw her after that. Idk the reason cuz I was young. I just wanted to share :D
Kind of sounds like you two were in a cult with the whole sharing of the hair thing lol. Nevertheless that was beautiful. I reminisce on my interracial friendships as a child also. In the 90s we were aware of our race but we all had fun together. Back before the world made us feel we were all at war with each other.
Back in my Day as a kid to be a True Friend, we Boys would Cut Our Index Finger at the Tip and Join them Together and we would Pronounce ourselves as "Blood Brothers"!...God Bless!
Well i am mixed myself too (european/african/native american and asian) and in primary school i only had two friends one of them was black and the other was arab.. i’ve had many friends later on that were from many different ethnicities.. also with those pictures they showed in the video i saw either that one kid just fell from the swing and the other was waiting or maybe helping the other swing maybe the other kid came looking to ask the other kid if they were okay..
one of my friends in middle school took a strand of my hair and said she wanted it so that she could dna replicate me in the future because I was moving 3 states away XD
Zovlo Everyone generally sticks to whatever tribal identity they have as Evolution always as been about the survival of your tribe in particular. And there is no need to stuff neo nazi bullshit down ones throat to realize this. So if some kids have a particular inclination to stick to their kind or race or ethicity then it is completely nature however id start worrying if they try fighting the others based on race.
Carla Linton. Parents That are Teaching Their Children not to play with other children because of the color of their skin is teaching Them To be racist and that is not right. They need to teach their children to play and make friends with other Children regardless of what color of their skin.
I'm latin and i can tell that just because some people has same race it does not mean they will nice to each other. At work some latin are cruel to me and some white or black treat me better. my best friend for 10 years is mixed (black and white), and i get a long with better that with other latins. Skin color is not important when you want to be friend with someone, the heart is what matters.
I'm Black and when I was a kid I went to a mainly white school and I noticed that the white kids didn't play with the black kids but the black kids didn't really mind playing with anyone cos you don't really have a choice lol. But the white kids didn't mind playing with mix race kids and me because I'm lightskin and so they thought I was mixed too. The white kids weren't racist but they preferred to stick to there own. (I also realised the parents of the white kids were definitely a little racist on the sly and they didn't associate with the black parents much). Only when we played football/soccer we all played together.
Devantayy There's a saying "If your white your're right,if your brown you stick around but if your black get to the back" I was tolerated because I was a mixed kid but I noticed the white kids didn't like playing with darker skin kids.
may edwards Yeah I'm light skin so I got invited to some of their birthday parties when practically everyone got invited but the darker kids never got invited to anything.
Devantayy I feel like the constructions of race plays a huge part there. The whole notion of being with your "own kind" is very animalistic point of view in my opinion. We're the same species of creature, living in the same setting. I don't understand. People like that are not intelligent in any form of the word.
It need not be reality. That is very much the clear point. We all must bring about change. We, as a we, are responsible. Love, love, love. Kindness, kindness, kindness. We are all connected. The separateness is so tragic.
I experience racism at a young age too. When I was in elementary school, my white friend said she can’t be seen with me because her father doesn’t like black people.
ONCE UPON A TIME ... WHEN I GOT HOME ONE DAY GETTING OUT OF MY CAR ... A YOUNG BLACK GUY , A STRANGER , TOLD ME THAT HE RIPPED OFF AN OLD WHITE WOMAN WHEN HE BOUGHT HER CADILLAC FOR $500.00. THAT RACIST PUNK. ANYONE CARE TO COMMENT ?
Carla Linton. When I was in school. I made friends with every body regardless of what race they were. Because one thing about me I love every body regardless what race they are.
God I know how the kids feel my dad and brother are racist I always had black friends and they would always bitch about it and tell me they don't belong I would try to explain why they are ok to hang around and get yelled at or told I'm being stupied ...Smh it's sad kids think this
amber lawson Glad you haven't been brainwashed to hate.I hate when adults say "well its how my parents raised me" That's bullshit. You should be able to make your own decisions at a certain age.I don't follow my family's advice on things because they can be prejudice.
I'm mixed race. When I was a child I don't recall anything related to race preferences in our house. I was taught to judge people by what they do, not what they look like. When I was sent to the predominantly white catholic school I was told in the first grade that the white parents preferred that their children not play with me. My dad had read to us every Sunday morning and I loved books. I just sat on the bench and read and thought those silly girls would probably loose at their games if they let me play. it did hurt to be excluded. I believed they were sawing themselves from embarrassment. I'm still an avid reader and it still hurts to be excluded.
9:02. SO TRUE! As a black parent you do want your children to just be...prepared for race relations so the children realize what’s going on once it finally happens. So true! It’s not to make the children racist but to just make them aware. I’ve seen it in my family. P.S. I’m not a parent.
I feel their is so much negativity involved with Race, race relations etc but still things must be better then they were 50 years ago, things will get better.
woah growing up in Australia no one ever had this problem.. being Hispanic I had white friends, Asian friends and aboriginal friends. everyone was welcome at each other's houses. I didn't see any racism with children so idk, maybe it was just my school
meow Sorry, asshole, the US isn't more racist than Australia. Australia is possibly the most racist country in the Western World. Even Afrikaner people think you guys take racism to far.
I work in a very multicultural school. All the students get along very well together with almost no mention of race what so ever. White kids sit with Black kids and so on and so forth. Then Black History month comes along and it's as if all of sudden the behavior of the students is transformed and everybody starts calling racial fouls and dividing themselves based on race and skin color. It's one thing to teach about different cultures and backgrounds. However I feel that we should simply have AMERICAN HISTORY Month and give all students at the same time an opportunity to express themselves and their culture and share it with other students. By making a distinction and dividing such celebrations based on race and skin color we are in a sense teaching children to make that distinction and division as well. It's time to change that!
American history month!! Really????? Lmaooooo please tell me what is the history of African Americans in this country!! 400 years of slavery, 12 years of reconstruction! And 100 years of Jim Crow!! Your idea will be teaching whites kids that they are superior!! Black history month is designed to teach black children that they were more than just slaves!! That you can be proud of your skin color and culture regardless of your ancestors standing in life!!!
No offense but I sense a lot of presumption and arrogance in your response. Let me try to explain some more. Unlike having a History Month that just celebrates one culture, American history month would teach students that all cultures and backgrounds are important and so were not just singling out one! It would also eliminate the idea of segregating people and their history based on their Skin Color because gee everything I grew up learning from people like Dr. Martin Luther King is that the color of one's skin is not suppose to matter!! So why would anyone choose to define themselves and their history by it? Sorry to say but anyone who define's who they are solely by their skin color is a moron. What does the color of your skin have to do with who you are as a person and what you choose to do with your life to have a positive impact on the world and the other people in your life? We have many different cultures but that has nothing to do with skin color other then by circumstance. Skin color continues to be an issue because so many people keep making it an issue!! "Proud of your skin color" Seriously?? What does the color of your skin have to do with anything other then a chosen means to divide and segregate yourselves from the rest of your fellow man. I know that I don't define myself by my skin color. I mean how stupid and shallow of a person I would be if I did so. I believe in One Race, The Human Race, and in so doing I believe in loving my fellow man no matter what skin color they are, working together and celebrating our history together and therefore teaching kids to do the same! This has NOTHING to do with WHITE Kids or Black kids! It has NOTHING to do with Skin Color and that is the point!! In order to end the ever on-going issues with Racism we need to choose to begin to define ourselves differently then what we did in the past! The very language that we are using to define ourselves like "race" and "skin color" creates rifts, division and segregation. Everything that people like Dr. Martin Luther King stood against as he dreamed of a day that we could all sit down at the same table together in brotherhood. Do I have to quote him? I guess I do! "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." SO WHY Do so many people today choose to continue to define themselves by skin color and not by who they are and the content of their character! Further this has NOTHING to do with teaching white kids that they are superior. Because it is Not solely about White kids. It's about EVERYBODY! I would argue that Black History month often times teaches black kids that they are superior and to hate whites for what SOME white people did to them in the past. I assure you that there is by far more to the history and culture of the European ancestry that has nothing to do with hate, murder, and oppression of other people's. Hundreds of thousands of whites and blacks fought America's bloodiest war to help put an end to slavery! There are positive and negative aspects to every culture. We are all guilty of sinful things and in need of God's forgiveness. The point of American History month is to focus on the positive things and let go of the hate of the past. To share with each other our many different cultures to come to a better understanding of love, unity, and respect of one another. That is why it is so important to bring everyone together in celebration and not make a single distinction for one particular culture over another.
Regardless of what anyone thinks I'm planning to start an American History month. Unlike other history months this month will include celebrations for EVERYONE! Other people can choose to continue to have their own months if they wish but I myself choose to do something that brings people together and not divides and segregates them apart based on ridiculous things like skin color. Something that focuses on building the future together and not living in the past.
Xaviour Cammon Black children who have never been enslaved have no need to carry ancient transgressions as a form of identification. I'm not sure where you grew up, but it was never my family's policy to judge people by superficial standards...
I started school on an American military base overseas. I cannot recall one instance when I felt "apart" from the local population, and we welcomed a few dozen nationalities into our home without a second thought. Our classes were completely integrated and racial prejudice was unknown. (I didn't "learn" that I was supposed to feel bad about having pale skin until we came to America. My first experience with a racist attitude was directed at me, on a beautiful day and out of nowhere. They required hospitalization for their rudeness.)
Carla Linton. When I was in school. I made friends with everyone regardless what race they were. Because one thing about me. I love everyone no matter what race they are. Because I am a Christian Woman.
Fear of punishment will lead a child to agree with almost anything . Hate is taught consciously and subconsciously. I hope all these kids are growing up with an open mind . An accepting attitude .
Totally true, it's so inbred into the environment then they blame black people for being violent and angry, Do you know how it feels when you don't receive love from your own environment For all I know we are all related in one way or another. I have grown up with so many friends from a stretch of the world so watching this made me tear up at how evil some people are to teach their kids something like this. If God keeps me alive I will make sure the world has love and peace. The true enemy is anyone who puts themselves over another person. We are all from the human race and that's what matters. I truly believe the young generation is the only thing that can save any other generation.
As an early child educator this makes me very sad and disturbed I had no idea what kids were being told so much past than what we tried to teach in our program. Different color of skin would often come up and talked a lot about it. One way we taught it was focusing on the similarities of our outer appearances and the inside of our bodies. We often would bring a brown and white egg in and ask them what's the difference between the 2 eggs. They would state the obvious one is brown & one is what. Then we would crack the egg and show them what's inside and ask them what's the difference? They would respond there isn't any. Then we would tell them that's how our bodies are we look different from the outside but on the inside we are the same. Then we would ask a question they could reference to most likely their class were of different nationalities & cultures so we would often ask questions along the lines what the world around us of everything was the same. Like there was just one kind of tree or on brown grass or only night and no day and what if there was only one kind of person and we all looked the same and sounded the same would that be any fun? Most agreed that would be dull & boring so we would allow them to point out similarities and differences and encourage them that's what keeps things fun learning more about things we just do not know a lot about and seeing the similarities and differences between humans and other things within our world. It wasn't something we covered once then moved on we would visit it or input new ideas of thinking as the class progressed. It's true it often starts in the home and it's sad that kids thought it would upset their parents. The way I look at things I get a part of that, but one day that child will be a part of society & the adult world and as much as they are of the parents' world one day their world will be all theirs and why not teach them cultural diversity and how to accept or the very least co-exsit without making it about color and learning to know a person and decide if they are good by who they are as a person. It's really disturbing we are now in 2020 and we still have this division.
Round of applause for the girls at 2:58 and 3:25 for being so smart❤ I really wanna slap the perant who said they didn't want their daughter to be friends with someone from a different race and those who bullied the kids cause of their race😤
my personal experience with my children...primary school predominantly white. . my daughter bullied in the last year of school & spent a lot of school time alone. .high school very mixed school all regions & all races, she has flourished into a confident young woman
@War Dog no there is only one original race, rather you like it or not that "race" if we are using that term, that color was "dark brown" because there is no one who is white or black.
My daughter is 5 years old, she always choose black skin for her games’ characters I asked her why she said it’s my teacher’s skin color and I love her, kids aren’t racist they are taught to be racist
Yeah, if you're going to be politically correct for one race then you have to do it for both. It's either black and white or Caucasian and African-American. You can't pick and choose.
+Nathan Simmons Maybe. Like when people are black they call themself black and white people call themself white. The only thing that really irritates me is that it's almost tabooed for a white person to call a black person black while it's completely acceptable for a black person to call a white person white. The doubled standard in this topic is so irritation. He probably wasn't allowed to say black because that would be 'politically incorrect'.
To Madison J...Really! That's THE ONLY THING that really irritates you. Good thing you are not black because you would have much more serious things to trouble you
The only thing that really irritates me is just another way I say the thing that most irritates me. I wrote this 32 weeks ago and now the thing I dislike the most about this is that their are only two races in the video. No body mentions mexicans or Scottish people or irish people or anyone else who weren't seen as equal. Black and white are only two colors. And about that last bit. You seem to be applying that if I was black then I would have to deal with more serious problems. That's rather subjective since everyone has problems not just people with darker skin and they aren't made any less serious the lighter your skin is.
If parents just sat down with their kids and discussed the importance of accepting those with different colored skin regardless of one's own skin color, children would respond more postively when faced with racial problems.
This was 2012 and yet now we're in the later part of 2020 and things are still the same, if not worse. I really do find it shocking that parents send this message to their kids. I am white and have two kids aged 5 and 3, one is at nursery and one is in school and I cannot imagine telling my kids that they cannot play with other kids because they are a different skin colour! To me, that's like telling someone you don't like them because they have a different eye colour or different colour hair. My 3 year old is a little young to grasp the concept but I have talked to my 5 year old about how her school friends, several of who are either Asian/Indian or black/mixed race and I have asked her if she's sees how they are different. She fully understands that she has "pinky white skin" (her words) and some of her friends have the same as her and some have "brown and black skin" but as she says, "they have beautiful skin and I love all my friends". That is how we are raising our kids...to see the (obvious) differences, but also to know that it doesn't define someone and we can all get along, whether white, brown, black or any other shade. It is something that makes the world interesting and exciting and that it would be boring if we were all the same. Just like there are different hair colours and eye colours, there are different skin colours. I have also told her that if she ever hears or sees someone bullying one of her friends because they are a different skin colour to her, the right thing to do is step up and say that it doesn't matter and being mean about someone's skin colour is bad and if that means telling a teacher, that's what she should do. If I found out that either of them had been mean to someone about their skin colour, I would verbally whoop their asses because I will not tolerate racism from my kids. Education begins at home and it is the parents' job first and foremost to raise their kids to respect everyone, regardless of how much or how little melanin they have in their body...because that's what it boils down to.
If parents were to be in one room watching their children being interviewed they will be ashamed a.f, trying to sink into their chairs because children are being honest a.f and exposing monsters in closets a.f....
From birth to childhood and beyond most people are comfortable being among their own. It's not necessarily taught or developed by parents. It's a simple matter of...birds of a feather flock together.
I grew up in Newark as a West Indian in a place where people from all races live. I never even knew about racism since second grade but it hadn't affected me till like 2015 when cops black kill rate started expanding it was only then that I understood what racism really was.
Okay I didn’t even realize race was a thing until I was like 14. When I would hear things about race I literally didn’t understand. I was literally color blind. I remember I had a black friend at camp and I wanted to do her makeup so I put my white foundation on her skin😂 because I just didn’t see color. Only later did I realize what race even is
I dont think i had always had a clear understanding of how much my parents hated everyone. Me too, i guess. Its like youre too americanized. Americans this & that. & Like? Im sorry you decided to bring me into the world out here & now this is all i know? Wow, its like we dont even inhabit the same living space... But ohhh i didnt know how much my parents disliked white ppl till my bro hooked up w/ one. & That girls parents are just as odd. Actually, they pretty much bailed on her when she got pregnant. & My parents did pick up the pieces & gave my bro space to do the right thing. But that was a little weird at first. Bc she stayed w/ us. & Waking up to real.. baby cries on school nights wasnt always my norm. & Her weird ignorant ... Drunk dad hit on me too. I completely told my dad. Anywho, i remember when we were on a trip to fl & she (+ her sis) was w/ us. Cracking up laughing bc my niece wouldnt stop staring at a black guy. This is the suburbs.. .but she had to go into explanation bc i didnt get it. Its weird to hear how others think sometimes. Bc i was like im sure shes seen a black person before. Its prob limited in our school bubble... But when were out & about, theyre not that rare. But lowkey i entertained the thought. But was like whatever. Babies stare at everyone. That stranger was prob like wth r they laughing about?
The way i see it is the kids aren't really racist or anything it's more like they were simply raised in a world that's already like that, has been for a long ass time and will always be like this.
In the mid 90s, I experienced ( caucasian btw) racism for the first time in school when I became friends with an African American boy when I was in the 4th grade! I still was friends with him, but I was bullied more then he. I was called "jungle fever" by other 4th graders and other ugly names. What the hell? Then I was made fun of for being friends with a Cuban girl. I was friends with both for years until they moved a different state despite the hate. I've been stubborn and independent since as long as I remember and never let hateful people tell me or stop me from being friends with anyone. Just because we had people teaching us hate doesn't mean we have to continue it. Important to think for ourselves early on. I teach my boys to think for themselves, stick up for whoever and be friends with whoever. 💞✌😊
I was 8 when an African American child said I was born racist because I was white and that is what his parents told him. I just wanted to be his friend and was bullied for it. In high school, I was told I couldn't sit at the lunch table because I was white. I was a minority at my school. It really does work both ways and it is really sad. :(
"...the various races of humankind lend a composite harmony and beauty of color to the whole. Let all associate, therefore, in this great human garden even as flowers grow and blend together side by side without discord or disagreement between them." - Abdu’l-Baha, The Promulgation of Universal Peace, Baha'i Faith
I never really got race till my family moved to Oregon and people would ask if I was adopted, when I went places with my dad. They would give us funny looks "like what are you doing with a white baby". Then we met kids who's parents were different races and it felt like we had this come bond. That is not to say we never had problems of our own but, it felt like our own little community.
I was never really into the idea of white people interact with white people, white people marry white people--same thing with other races--In fact, I hate the mere concept of dating someone with exetremely or very similar looks to oneself. xD
Although all kids are precious, I just think the one at 5:20 is just too cute. I love that age. No one is born with any prejudices or bigoted thoughts. Bias is learned. Of course as a child grows they'll be influenced by a million factors in their world; in their life. But the biggest positive influence should be their parents first. And of course you'll have to teach them over time about the cruelty that will be out there. I'm just really grateful that I grew up in a very racially and ethnically diverse environment. Having that diversity in your life with people of all backgrounds makes for a very enriched life with a beautiful array of good friends.
I'm mostly white, but that doesn't mean I'm racist. I never was racist at all honestly. I'm not biased towards any group like race for example. No one is superior nor inferior to me.
I'm so proud my kids love everyone and don't see colors in people. To them we are all beautiful. And they don't feel better than anyone just beacuse of their skin color. I just hope no one ruins their way of thinking as they grow up by filling their head and heart with hate . I don't get why people are so racist smh.
Jazmin Ramirez but according to some extreme democrats, not seeing people by their color is "racist" -_- but when you do see people only for their skin color rather than their personality and morals you get brainwashed people like this
As a child, growing up in predominantly white area, I was always drawn to learning about different races! I wouldn’t have felt what Cooper said. I tried to make friends with the only black girl in junior high! If I had a chance might have married a different race. I did grown up with a prejudice against Indians, because the kids weren’t kept clean! Also, the gov. Built them homes which they didn’t appreciate. But then my thirties at a church camp, God revealed my prejudice. I quickly repented and my heart changed! We did adopt our Korean daughter several years before that!
the voices of the children who described bullying sounded hurt. especially the ones that talked about their experiences. parents need to teach children today so we can have a better tomorrow.
Reawer yeSs. Disney has the least diverse characters of all of tv. But even CNN itself. I doubt they would have someone whose role is as big as Anderson Cooper not be white. At least in today's world. In 20-30 years I'm sure it'll be better.
The comment section is filled with positive comments that make me very happy because I’m black but one thing I realise is that people think they can do whatever they want to online because no one knows who they are
It’s what we choose to do with our fear that counts. I think it’s normal to be drawn to the familiar. After that though, we must choose how we will respond instead of going with natural responses
A need for oneness... "May they drink from the same fountain. May they be refreshed by the same breeze. May they receive illumination from the same source of light. Thou art the Giver, the Merciful, the Omnipotent." ~ Abdu'l-Baha, Baha'i World Faith
it''s funny to me, how afraid adults are to talk about skin color with kids. We will do almost anything to avoid saying "black" or "white" or any other race. Today i was reading a book with a 2 year old toddler in my class. The book was about bath time and it showed how the different babies would play with toys and play with the soap and the water. One of the babies in the book has dark skin. imediately the child i was reading to pointed out that the black baby had the skin color of a black child in the classroom. All I said was, "yes, that's right, that baby has the same skin color as ________" isn't she a cute baby? i turned the page and there was a white baby. I said "Aww, look, that baby looks like you." It was very simple but, if i were to ignore the child pointing out the different colors, what would that help? Why not point out that all the babies in the book are cute?
Im such a empathetic person... I seriously rewinded back as far as i could remember. :/ Funny i got here. I really thought about this earlier. Wondering how & when i started to become aware of racial tension. I do remember exactly when i first learned that my parents acted a certain way when i tried to invite a black friend over. She just lived in my neighborhood, & as a kid... i just thought i could still play w/her. Well, when i went over to her house to try & talk to her, her family gave me hell. Adults just going off on me. I knew it wasnt my fault, but it was my familys actions. So, i thought i deserved it & i just stood there & took it. Before that, before it being called out, i do remember playing some kind of black girls playing some kind of patty cake thing. Idk what you call it. Just singing w/ hands. I had never heard what those certain songs before. Or they knew extended versions. It had to have been towards the end of the yr bc i never spoke them before. I do think i went over there bc they were different too... That was definately a white majority school. We had horrible white sitters. So they sent us to the inner city school after that. By fourth grade, we moved to the suburbs. More white ppl. I had one white friend, one black friend. The chinese girl moved before the yr finished. I hadnt seen so many spanish speaking folks till my 20s. & That was only bc i moved to the south. I think i knew an entire 4 my entire school yrs.
Regarding improving race relations, as early as 1947 the Baha'i Faith strongly warned of "the fundamental and persistent neglect, by the governed and governors alike, of the supreme, the inescapable and urgent duty" "- of remedying, while there is yet time, through a revolutionary change in the concept and attitude" of our population.
Gosh, I can't believe some kids find positivity about race while a few of them seek negativity and racism. Well, I just hope all of the kids can learn about race and try to make a difference and make friends with others in race, culture, and religion. Someday.
I never thought about race when I was young but the liberals came and kept telling my I'm racist because I'm white and kept telling me how poc are so oppressed.
It is quite natural to gravitate towards people who look like you, people often even marry a partner who has similar looks and proportions as well as race. But parents should not be encouraging differences, it is confusing to kids.
I just told you babies don't know what they look like. They don't know who looks similar and who doesn't. What about mixed kids? They don't care most of all.
During my five years in high school (having emigrated in 1975)in England I was on the receiving end of many racist insults and hateful comments, and to this day it still happens!! I am Irish AND white! The only people who have never questioned me being Irish are my black and Asian friends.Go figure. When I lived in Italy they welcomed me so much and were in awe of the Irish and Ireland. It was a welcome change to be embraced for my nationality AND my accent for the first time in 14 years. Just goes to show, even whites can be racist towards whites 🤷🏻♀️ It all boils down to arrogance and thinking your nation is far superior to another.
Totally true, I have grown up with so many friends from a stretch of the world so watching this made me tear up at how evil some people are to teach their kids something like this. If God keeps me alive I will make sure the world has love and peace. The true enemy is anyone who puts themselves over another person. We are all from the human race and that's what matters. I truly believe the young generation is the only thing that can save any other generation.
My parents NEVER instilled racist attitudes in me and I was "anti-racist" for most of my life. But now, I truly believe that blacks and whites are significantly different, not just in skin color but also in intelligence and temperament. I don't hate blacks (at all) and I believe that blacks and whites can be friends, but I no longer believe in total integration at any cost. Does this make me a "racist"? No, I don't think so. I think racial consciousness and tribal identity is completely natural, normal and healthy.
***** "The fake innocent posture you're trying to pull" I'm not trying to "pull" anything and my position is neither fake nor innocent. It's grounded in realism and honest observation over many years. Blacks and whites are DIFFERENT. They differ in brain sizes, IQ levels, testosterone levels, penis size, skull shape, mating patterns, crime patterns and other significant social behaviors. If your interested (and I doubt you will be) here's some source material: www.harbornet.com/folks/theedrich/JP_Rushton/Race.htm These racial differences have real world consequences. For example, I do not believe that whites (or Asians) will ever play basketball quite as good as blacks. Conversely, I do not believe that sub-saharan Africans (on their own, with no help from others) would be able to put a man on the moon, build a space shuttle or create the Haldon Collider. If YOU actually believe they can do those things, you're either lying to be politically correct or you have very poor observational skills. These are honest beliefs and I am entitled to them. If you honestly think I should "die" for simply being honest about my observations, then you are an ignorant person who reacts with violence when he's unable to counteract with facts, science and reasoned opinion.
utube9000 "I truly believe that blacks and whites are significantly different, not just in skin color but also in intelligence and temperament" lmao what smh
flowerpress1 "Embracing your own culture is not racist but suppressing someone else's is." I agree with your statements. I do think blacks and whites are different, but I do not seek to suppress blacks.
I thought that I was a racist because I was Caucasian. Then someone told me if someone calls me racist only for being white, that’s racism. Then I found out that I am some other ethnicity at fifty. Crap. My mom is upset with me because I said that this Asian lady is pretty. I wasn’t thinking about her race. She made a dirty look. My family is crazy.
Children (no matter the age) are molded by their parents. As they should be. The child will always accept the teachings or Realize how unintelligent my parents are.
its not the kids. its not the race. its what they see, hear, and experience.

And horrible parents.

And so are you.
Well there’s a lot of wasted space where I’m from.
People who don't act on racism deserves my respect. Keep it up.
I hate when people be like am not racist I have black Friends
Captainpotato it’s bullshit

So she tells me ill brb and walks away she comes back and says "do you want to play with the dolls in my room?" and out of the blue her mom tells us to "stay in the living room no going in the room" when she walks away shes whispers "Weird my mom always lets my friend payton (which she is pale and blonde hair) come in my room" I felt like crying but I didnt show it at the time

I have a person at my school named Alex with blonde hair and pale skin and like grey or bluish eyes and her bestfriends is Payton or Peyton and she’s brown

Humans are pure crap sometimes.
Humans are creatures of huge egos. We think that we are intelligent but we are way more likely to be the source of our own extinction than any natural causes.

Thats too pg. I have lots of" blood bros & sis's" out there. Where ever yall are at, i hope youre doing well

True but it's not just their parents. Implicit racial bias is baked into American culture, so it's everywhere.

It's only baked into American culture because we are so diverse

Carla Linton. Parents That are Teaching Their Children not to play with other children because of the color of their skin is teaching Them To be racist and that is not right. They need to teach their children to play and make friends with other Children regardless of what color of their skin.
I'm latin and i can tell that just because some people has same race it does not mean they will nice to each other. At work some latin are cruel to me and some white or black treat me better. my best friend for 10 years is mixed (black and white), and i get a long with better that with other latins. Skin color is not important when you want to be friend with someone, the heart is what matters.
These kids no matter black or white are very honest. (especially the black kids)
Devantayy - that's really sad 😳
Devantayy I feel like the constructions of race plays a huge part there. The whole notion of being with your "own kind" is very animalistic point of view in my opinion. We're the same species of creature, living in the same setting. I don't understand. People like that are not intelligent in any form of the word.

This just hurts so much. It brought tears to my eyes.

This cycle of hate has to stop. How about giving every expecting parent a basic lesson on Humanity, before getting another human in this world.

@War Dog no there is only one original race, rather you like it or not that "race" if we are using that term, that color was "dark brown" because there is no one who is white or black.

"Both white and 'African American children'…" Bitch wtf… Was he supposed to say that or was he just afraid of saying black?
Yeah, if you're going to be politically correct for one race then you have to do it for both. It's either black and white or Caucasian and African-American. You can't pick and choose.
+Nathan Simmons
Maybe.
+Madison Jones hi Madison
😭 Glad I wasnt raised to hate and my children will not either.❤
I don't like race I think we are equal
nope!
Jenae Pitasxisckz Yes. I want people to see my race so they can see my culture. I just don’t want them to judge me based on my race.
It is 2020 and I pray that these kids have evolved and grown on this topic
The way i see it is the kids aren't really racist or anything it's more like they were simply raised in a world that's already like that, has been for a long ass time and will always be like this.
Alex Zapata Whites rationalization for racism. typical.
Yea bro it does. And I am sorry they treated u like that, and this is coming from a black Ol dude haha.
I don’t even know why in 2020 we’re still caring about skin tone. We’re all human beings at the end of the day and need to get along or just be civil.
ALL kids lay back on what their PARENTS told them ( who all seem to be extremley RACIST ). The kids just repeat what they are told. Nothing more.
It's 2017 where still fucked.
you are m8
I never really got race till my family moved to Oregon and people would ask if I was adopted, when I went places with my dad. They would give us funny looks "like what are you doing with a white baby". Then we met kids who's parents were different races and it felt like we had this come bond. That is not to say we never had problems of our own but, it felt like our own little community.
I was never really into the idea of white people interact with white people,
white people marry white people--same thing with other races--In fact,
I hate the mere concept of dating someone with exetremely or very similar looks to oneself.
xD
Pretty Majestic can’t really help if you fall in love with someone your own race...
Having that diversity in your life with people of all backgrounds makes for a very enriched life with a beautiful array of good friends.
they're letting you know who's teaching them it's the parent.
Jazmin Ramirez but according to some extreme democrats, not seeing people by their color is "racist" -_- but when you do see people only for their skin color rather than their personality and morals you get brainwashed people like this
Don't see colour???? Lol so you're actually doing what the white racist parents are said to do
As a child, growing up in predominantly white area, I was always drawn to learning about different races!
To Americans that think that's natural: Is normal in the USA, South African and countries with recent apartheids.
Not in the rest of the whole world.
2 child geniuses blond girl at 3:02 and handsome black boy at 3:38 our future to a successful country...
I realized how biracial my friend group is:
Me-Black
Ava-Asian
Ella-Hispanic
Dana-Hispanic
Luzia-German
There is some diversity in my friend group:
Me - Russian
Also me - Irish
Me again - German
And me yet again - tall, friendless extra terrestrial
Wow, did I just witness an impossible event! This needs to be documented in history books!
the voices of the children who described bullying sounded hurt. especially the ones that talked about their experiences. parents need to teach children today so we can have a better tomorrow.
ah yes, its called Disney
Reawer yeSs. Disney has the least diverse characters of all of tv. But even CNN itself. I doubt they would have someone whose role is as big as Anderson Cooper not be white. At least in today's world. In 20-30 years I'm sure it'll be better.
Ravi GOPINATHAN don lemon is huge on CNN
The comment section is filled with positive comments that make me very happy because I’m black but one thing I realise is that people think they can do whatever they want to online because no one knows who they are
People in these comments bringing up fbi stats and polls and all cnn did is ask the kids the same questions
It’s what we choose to do with our fear that counts. I think it’s normal to be drawn to the familiar. After that though, we must choose how we will respond instead of going with natural responses
this is so sad
all these people with no ethnic loyalty is sad
I do this w/ my pets. Just as affective 👍
5:20 would love to see their parents watching this ...such a shame for them :/
I’m white yet I have black friends and they are extremely nice and my Mum doesn’t care who I’m friends
These kids have more thought and compassion than all the deplorables combined.
Regarding improving race relations, as early as 1947 the Baha'i Faith strongly warned of "the fundamental and persistent neglect, by the governed and governors alike, of the supreme, the inescapable and urgent duty" "- of remedying, while there is yet time, through a revolutionary change in the concept and attitude" of our population.
parents are being exposed
That last girl broke my heart
I can't watch this anymore
Gosh, I can't believe some kids find positivity about race while a few of them seek negativity and racism. Well, I just hope all of the kids can learn about race and try to make a difference and make friends with others in race, culture, and religion. Someday.
very sad
I was never taught this way!! I actually never had a friend in mine own race.
3:17 that girls badass
This is aa message from the future, 2020 is the worst year ugh
interesting study.
I never thought about race when I was young but the liberals came and kept telling my I'm racist because I'm white and kept telling me how poc are so oppressed.
the same here. but apparently we need to get united. some people want war or something.
how blissfully ignorant your experience was. seriously. ignorance is bliss. but some of us can't be ignorant-like most of the kids in this video.
God loves ALL his children. If we are good enough for him we should be good enough for each other.
It is quite natural to gravitate towards people who look like you, people often even marry a partner who has similar looks and proportions as well as race. But parents should not be encouraging differences, it is confusing to kids.
Babies don't even know what they themselves look like, idk what your talking about. And mixed babies who would they prefer?? Lol.
It is not about preference it is about looking similar. Research bears this out.
I just told you babies don't know what they look like. They don't know who looks similar and who doesn't. What about mixed kids? They don't care most of all.
Of course babies recognise their parents - noticed how they stare??
What if the baby was mixed?
Sounds like xenophobia tbh
My parents NEVER instilled racist attitudes in me and I was "anti-racist" for most of my life. But now, I truly believe that blacks and whites are significantly different, not just in skin color but also in intelligence and temperament. I don't hate blacks (at all) and I believe that blacks and whites can be friends, but I no longer believe in total integration at any cost. Does this make me a "racist"? No, I don't think so. I think racial consciousness and tribal identity is completely natural, normal and healthy.
***** And why in the world would I care what Neil DeGrasse Tyson or Morgan Freeman would think of me? I don't care - or think about them- at all.
***** "The fake innocent posture you're trying to pull"
I'm not trying to "pull" anything and my position is neither fake nor innocent. It's grounded in realism and honest observation over many years. Blacks and whites are DIFFERENT. They differ in brain sizes, IQ levels, testosterone levels, penis size, skull shape, mating patterns, crime patterns and other significant social behaviors. If your interested (and I doubt you will be) here's some source material:
www.harbornet.com/folks/theedrich/JP_Rushton/Race.htm
These racial differences have real world consequences.
If you honestly think I should "die" for simply being honest about my observations, then you are an ignorant person who reacts with violence when he's unable to counteract with facts, science and reasoned opinion.
utube9000 "I truly believe that blacks and whites are significantly different, not just in skin color but also in intelligence and temperament" lmao what smh
utube9000 It also depends on where the kid grew up at.Of course suburban blacks are going to be have better than black from a inner city.
flowerpress1 "Embracing your own culture is not racist but suppressing someone else's is."
I agree with your statements.
Hahahahaha I laugh how can you claim something you stole??? Kills me when ppl say My Country !!!!!!😠😠
Children (no matter the age) are molded by their parents. As they should be.
The child will always accept the teachings or
Realize how unintelligent my parents are.
