Why Rimac Builds 1900HP Electric Cars - APEX:60

The all-electric Rimac C_Two is faster than you can imagine.
In high school, Mate Rimac blew the motor in his E30 BMW. Instead of rebuilding the engine he installed an electric motor. After a year of tinkering the car was still too slow, so he found some people to help him make it faster. Eventually, the little BMW was making 600 electric horsepower and 900 Nm of torque. It went from 0-60MPH in 3.3 seconds and set records at drag strips and half-mile events. But that car wasn’t just a fun project; it was the beginning.
Mate believed electrification was the future for automobiles and he wanted to help shape it. He assembled a team and founded Rimac Automobili in his native country of Croatia.
