another one that hasn't been mentioned in this video was relatively recently they found a type of bacteria that produces electrical currents via humidity, the reason this is great is because weather will not be a reliant factor, it will run 24/7 and because its only humidity it requires you can build vertically instead of horizontally meaning they can be constructed in cities and will use less land to power things, the downside of it so far is that it produces insanely low power, however solar was inn the same spot when it was first discovered, you also have shopping bags being made from fish scales recently made from a university student meaning all the scales and fish waste can actually be useful. another company has made "pod" like biomes for fish farms to take them out at sea which reduces the acid in the waters for nearby local reefs which will allow the reefs to grow back slowly along with providing a whole new feeding location further out at sea for other smaller species of shrimps, plankton and small fish. that pavement you saw that generates power is currently in the process for road work also so the cars on roads will also power the problem they are currently facing is durability for sudden breaks AKA if a car crash or sudden break stop happens, it rips the panels up, once they find a way to solve this issue then the cars will also generate this power. there is aloooot more also out there but these are a few that interested me, theres alot going positive its just media prefer to cover the negative so you have to really look for it

The thing with the shower is that it looks really cool in theory. But with marking the drops really small and fast, it cools incredibly fast. So you end up having it really close or really hot which would be either uncomfortable or just straight up defeat the purpose of saving hot water
This is one of the best videos on UA-cam. I'm tired of the negativity and things that are fed to us everyday. THIS is why I'm in tech. To make the world better, and simpler for most people. The creativity of some of these is astounding. We need more of this.
Holy crap, I remember years ago when I learned that pressure sensors use crystals that generate electricity by pressure thats applied to them and thought it would be crazy if we took that and added it to floors so the pressure of things on the floors created energy. And it's cool seeing that this was already done
the issue with most of these is our current society and industry will prevent their spread. many companies make money by collecting garbage, or selling electricity. if anyone can produce their own electricity, then those companies will disappear, which they do not appreciate it
The issue with plastic roads is micro-plastic - or almost invisible plastic particles then then end up everywhere and are the reason you can find microplastic in everything (including food and our bodies). Already paint used to mark road lanes is a source of it - making the whole road plastic would drastically increase the micro plastics problem apparently. So yeah, many of these things aren't really a solution but a step towards one. By exploring options, and any problems or solutions that may come out of these options we might find a real solution.
to be fair though, asphalt can take up to 300 years to "decompose" and that will also produce small particles. at least with this its being used from another source, but as you say its stepping the right direction, they also found bacteria that can create power using humidity and is currently being invested into, as this means u can build vertically not horizontally saving more space from being torn down and it has a 24/7 up time as apposed to solar which is during day and wind turbines dependant on winds
@@chazamon960 Asphalt is crude oil, so this shouldn't come as a surprise. What we have to do to save our world is eliminating the extraction of crude oil first and foremost.
I'm just here to appreciate the amount of time and research done by Arun to produce this. You inspire small tech content creators like me to do better. 🙏
As someone who prays for us and the earth to start getting our shit together to help give back to the environment, and someone who enjoys tech, this video hits me in the feels.
Everyone who has suddenly gotten a positive outlook for the future after watching this video just remember that it's your responsibility to push your respective governments and administrations into adopting these technologies and coming up with policies that are in line with the environment.
Man I'd give anything to have those plastic roads where we are. We're constantly getting massive potholes due to heavy rainstorms and the roads being tarmacked on top of cobblestone roads. It's so bad it got immortalised in a Beatles song and my mum broke her cars suspension going over one of the potholes... But like heck would the local council pay for it when they rarely pay to fill a pothole in... Also curious how it'd work with all the ice we get... But I can hope the government loses its mind and goes for it one day lol.
@@lunasif yeah no, plastic roads are a horrible idea for cars to drive on. Tens of thousands of 2k ton+ cars going 60 km/h every day are going to spray microplastics everywhere
It's so reassuring that companies are working on sustainable technological solutions for betterment of humanity and planet.. and thank you very much for bringing all that tech in form of such an incredibly informative and interesting video Kudos for that ✌️✌️

The ecocapsule would easily be 10/10 if it was designed with a habitat system built in for the growth of plants and animals which would be very easy to do.
problem being that delivering that would be damn near impossible, and it would bring the cost up to maybe 100,000 if not more. And thats not even mentioning the space you'd need to fit it considering that part of the point of it is that it takes no space.

The mushroom box is such a simple, yet clever idea! I cant imagine you'd want to store a TV in it though for months on end at a factory though because of the smell
For the water situation, someone needs to build a shower and tub that have a built in water heating and filtration system so when you take a shower you run a bit of water and the system then takes over and recycles that water multiple times instead of just running fresh water down the drain... I figure we have all the technology it just has to be built and refined into a functional system.

that self sustaining home would be a great camper trailer! especially if it is being hauled by an electric vehicle as the solar panels and windmill would also help charge the truck and the truck would have its own solar panels to both charge the truck and power the camper. or it could have a basic gas/diesel truck (for example a 2018 dodge ram 3500 dually which has a 6.7l turbo diesel which could haul it no problem as thats what duallied pickup trucks are for, hauing stuff) where it wont be as enviromentaly friendly but the truck could still have solar panels and wont lose any power charging the truck and since its more modern it wont be as hard on gas edit: the wind from driving the self sustaining home around would spool up the wind turbine so it can charge as you drive.

The thing i like about this guy is how he explains things with plain simple sentences and says it like a pro and then the fact his sense of humour just makes it even better
The only major problem with the plastic roads at this time is that, especially highways, they need to turn nicely and be able to have constant pressure no matter the circumstances, plus the nice thing about asphalt is that when bits fall off, they are just rocks and can be easily filled, however the plastic roads would be very useful for sidewalks as we don’t weigh enough to break off bits of it making it extremely viable
easy fix, just stop driving literally everywhere. less highways, less cars, less pollution. i hate how dependent we've become on cars. (united states at least, apparently other countries actually care about public transit) anyway, i would be concerned about the plastic leaching into the soil but iirc that happens with asphalt too, idk which one is worse though.
@@SkylarsTerribleMemes it’s cheaper to travel by car than by plane long distance, people travel further than just inner city especially in smaller towns, and the plastic would still wear down comparably quicker still than asphalt while producing an equal amount of pollution leading to more overall, plus plastic isn’t as good for compressive forces as asphalt meaning it can crack and considering that they are wanting to run pipes and suck underneath they are hollow meaning they can even more easily create potholes that are bigger and more time consuming to repair
@@SkylarsTerribleMemes what the shit you good? cars are fine mate, all this "pollution" and stuff aint affecting us in our lifetimes so chill out and do whatever you want
@@yeetuslefetus1443 in an ideal world, city to city travel would be by high speed rail. and in plenty of countries, that's already a thing. hell, some small towns in the us owe their entire existence to a train that once stopped there. cars and planes are only cheaper because they're subsidized. and yeah, plastic for roads would suck, but it's a great idea for sidewalks and bike lanes - pedestrians and bicycles cause exponentially less wear to the surface they tread on
I always love these videos because i end up taking a lot of time just to research these for myself and i have to say that i am extremely impressed that there is still a side of humanity that does in fact out in such an effort to fix how we do things

Holy crap, I remember years ago when I learned that pressure sensors use crystals that generate electricity by pressure thats applied to them and thought it would be crazy if we took that and added it to floors so the pressure of things on the floors created energy. the issue with most of these is our current society and industry will prevent their spread. many companies make money by collecting garbage, or selling electricity. if anyone can produce their own electricity, then those companies will disappear, which they do not appreciate it

What about a road that's structurally plastic, but then has some other material over it so that the plastic won't degrade due to abrasion
to be fair though, asphalt can take up to 300 years to "decompose" and that will also produce small particles. at least with this its being used from another source, but as you say its stepping the right direction, they also found bacteria that can create power using humidity and is currently being invested into, as this means u can build vertically not horizontally saving more space from being torn down and it has a 24/7 up time as apposed to solar which is during day and wind turbines dependant on winds
Well, the mealworm will take care of that ...
@@chazamon960 Asphalt is crude oil, so this shouldn't come as a surprise.
What we have to do to save our world is eliminating the extraction of crude oil first and foremost.
Exactly PLUS the leaching of BPA and other toxic plastic compounds into the soil and water sounds like an ecologic toxic soup nightmare :'(
I'm just here to appreciate the amount of time and research done by Arun to produce this.

Yah 50k tear drop camper homes such an awesome future for you guys lol
Man I'd give anything to have those plastic roads where we are. We're constantly getting massive potholes due to heavy rainstorms and the roads being tarmacked on top of cobblestone roads. It's so bad it got immortalised in a Beatles song and my mum broke her cars suspension going over one of the potholes... But like heck would the local council pay for it when they rarely pay to fill a pothole in... Also curious how it'd work with all the ice we get... But I can hope the government loses its mind and goes for it one day lol.
Lol as if they would listen.
All they want is power and money
Hear, hear. Everyone just listens but shrugs off responsibilities by blaming governments or corporations etc
@@lunasif yeah no, plastic roads are a horrible idea for cars to drive on. Tens of thousands of 2k ton+ cars going 60 km/h every day are going to spray microplastics everywhere

The “visible” portion of the EMSpectrum is such a small portion and is quite honestly not very energetic to boot, but if we can harness those parts that are higher or even lower in the energy spectrum it’ll be something spectacular!
It would probably be the higher portion, because we use the lower portion for communication and internet

As much as it seems cool, sadly this ain't happening anytime soon.

that self sustaining home would be a great camper trailer! especially if it is being hauled by an electric vehicle as the solar panels and windmill would also help charge the truck and the truck would have its own solar panels to both charge the truck and power the camper. or it could have a basic gas/diesel truck (for example a 2018 dodge ram 3500 dually which has a 6.7l turbo diesel which could haul it no problem as thats what duallied pickup trucks are for, hauing stuff) where it wont be as enviromentaly friendly but the truck could still have solar panels and wont lose any power charging the truck and since its more modern it wont be as hard on gas
edit: the wind from driving the self sustaining home around would spool up the wind turbine so it can charge as you drive.

@@HawaiianKong yes, it takes many years to figure these things out, but it's typically not announced as a company/organization's product until the research has achieved something. The challenge then is making it profitable/sustainable business-wise, and to get policy to push their adoption

but now the real question is if these amazing inventions will actually be put into action, and be used all around the world, not only by a couple of rich people who can actually afford it.

(united states at least, apparently other countries actually care about public transit)
anyway, i would be concerned about the plastic leaching into the soil but iirc that happens with asphalt too, idk which one is worse though.
@@SkylarsTerribleMemes it’s cheaper to travel by car than by plane long distance, people travel further than just inner city especially in smaller towns, and the plastic would still wear down comparably quicker still than asphalt while producing an equal amount of pollution leading to more overall, plus plastic isn’t as good for compressive forces as asphalt meaning it can crack and considering that they are wanting to run pipes and suck underneath they are hollow meaning they can even more easily create potholes that are bigger and more time consuming to repair

and yeah, plastic for roads would suck, but it's a great idea for sidewalks and bike lanes - pedestrians and bicycles cause exponentially less wear to the surface they tread on
