I have a KZ Sportsman of this exact floor plan, paid $7100 brand new and lived in it for 18 months. Saved a ton of cash on not having to pay rent. Set it up on a buddies farm to watch (guard) livestock. I wont hesitate to live in it again, good times!
dwarden3 The bed looks more comfortable in the model you’re talking about.. I’d get rid of the couch, since my girlfriend and I would never use it. But that’s definitely a good option for when we start looking for something to travel in.
It needs a Murphy bed with a multipositional table with the bench seat being a two seat table. Then have a fold down flat screen Tv from the roof. Lot's of dude's would love a man cave but lack the money and area to have one. Those little changes and keeping it all under ten grand? I would buy one to park in my back yard or an enclosed area to have my own little man cave. 😊
That bench makes it really easy to leave the dinette as a bed full time. You could use one or two small TV dinner trays to substitute for a dinner table. Once you’re done eating fold them and slide them underneath the bed out of the way.
Not bad. There are lots of advantages to a camper that size. Super low maintenance and would be towable with just about anything. Would be a nice camper to easily take cross country.
Average Joe easy to drive and park and fits about anywhere and doesn't take like parking lots and doesn't cover the hole view to your house when it's park ouside
The reviewer is focusing on pickup trucks as tow vehicles, but that size/weight of trailer is also well within the range of SUVs with V-6 engines and 5-6,000 pounds of towing rating such as the Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee, Kia Sorento and Telluride, Hyundai Palisade, Toyota Highlander, and the Ford Explorer. It's marginal for those tow rated for 3,500 pounds such as the Toyota Highlander Hybrid and Ford Edge and sibling Lincoln MKX/Nautilus.
I’ve always wanted something small as this for my wife and I, every year the lifestyle is calling me!!! It’s the right price point just in case it’s not for HER, easily maintained and turned over for resale if need be. Great video Thanks
Thanks for sharing! This is exactly what I've been looking for. Something for me and my 2 little dogs and occationally 2 little grandkids. Something I can take to the beach or just on short weekend trips close to home. Plus I won't have to have a super huge vehicle to pull it with. Thank you again for this video!
This is perfect for camping especially with the awning. If you are spending your time in the trailer when it is nice out, you aren't camping correctly lol.
We have a 2013 Viking by Forest River very similar to this. Tow it with a Ford Sport Trac. Been over all the steepest highways in BC with no problems at all. Perfect size for two people who love to be outside as much as possible. Warm and dry when the weather gets wet and chilly. On Vancouver Island we use it from March until November. Love it!
The hubs & I are huge race fans & this size unit would be great for us! We want to camp at the tracks for 1-2 nights & we aren’t forced to use our 2500 diesel. Some tracks have VERY tiny sites also. Another plus! 🤗
My mom & dad pulled a 19 ft Nash trailer with their 1996 GMC Sonoma with the 4.3 L V-6 with no problems. They did add a brake assist on it. Growing up, my parents had a 13 ft ECCO trailer (a.k.a a Boler or Scamp). We had so much fun it! Additionally, I pull a 16 ft Starcraft Supersport aluminum boat on a 20 ft trailer with my 2003 Chevy S-10 with the 4.3 L V-6 with no absolutely no problems. The keys to these are 1) GVWR capacity, and 2) the towing capacity of the towing vehicle .
I could live in something this small, the only thing is that i would have to modify it a little bit to fit a desk as well as a comfortable place to sleep
I had a Fun Finder T139 which was very similar to this unit and my wife and I loved it. We had a wet bath which was tight. This bathroom is much more spacious. They feel much larger inside than they look from the outside. Supposedly these units are popular with hunters.
If anyone's looking for a really reasonably priced and decently spacious light trailer to pull with a midsize SUV check out the keystone hideout 177lhs. I got one a year ago today and it's been fantastic. Full queen bed up front and dinette at the rear, lots of windows, full bathroom, indoor/outdoor stereo, tons of storage etc. 3000lbs dry.
Perfect rig for young couples wanting to “learn” the art of camping. And they could easily adapt it to use on whatever type of camping they want to do. And small generator and they’re off grid! Excellent “first” camper. Ours was a pop-up…this thing is a step above where we began.
A trailer like this could be easily built for half the price they are asking for this trailer. Don't get me wrong I really appreciate the time you took to make this video and show the layout. The thing is that when you really inspect these trailers, they are built with very cheap materials. Take care
This is perfect for a single person or a couple with no kids for a long weekend or a nice little travel trip. The price isn’t bad for what it offers with nice little perks like the electric awning, small tub with the stand up shower and the bed that converts to a dining area.
We have a 2016 AR-1 Extreme rb15. It's basically the same thing except it has the axel flipped to get more ground clearance. And ours has the hybrid queen bed that folds down out the back. It also has a side mount A/c unit because of the difference in overall height. We have towed it with our 4door Wranglers with zero issues. Ours has a sealed belly and we have spent a week at a time hunting in November in Idaho in some pretty cold weather. We absolutely love the separate shower it's not easy to find in small trailers. I was not going to stand over the toilet to shower!! Lol We set it up with 2 6volt batteries and a single 10gal Lp tank and even in the cold weather no problems at all spending a week in the mountains.
Great little trailer! A young couple with or without small children or 1-2 adults could find this a great camper. Easy to tow etc. Would be a great starter trailer! That’s the great thing about RVs, there is one for everyone.
I have a 2017 Gulfstream Trailmaster 16BHC that is the same weight but a little bigger. We love it! Tow with a 2011 Ford Ranger 4.0L all the way from Cali to Miami - no problem.
10K, I like it. Perfect for zen, slow camping, or minimal living. I like the table option in the back. Would make a cool office/work space. Only thing =this can't be super tight at this price.
this is perfect for my Ranger unfortunately I think they've stopped making these new so I would have to start hunting for one used or left over new on the lot.
Perfect little camper. Wood frame trailers are super easy to fix ,basic carpentry skills if someone bangs into it. Fiberglass units and you need a fancy body shop, great insurance , Lots of time in the shop, basically a small whack and it’s almost totaled . We were going to buy an R-Pod but twice the price and twice the liability if it gets hit, This Starcraft is perfect. Plus pay cash and no loans no long term payments . Starcraft is also a very good name in campers.
Coachmen models under Viking / Clipper names have similar floor plans and dry weights. Plus our experience with the manufacture Coachmen has been very good and responsive. Thanks for the video
I'm a millennial degenerate turning 28 and looking to move out of my parents and learn manly resourceful skills to be independent and considering buying one of these trailers as a start to try and move out and be independent again... Im thinking of how to take care of it, where to park it, rent space or not rent space, because if you park it in wrong places it can get towed and stuff...
I just bought a 2nd hand Taylor Coach, 12 ft Bobbie, 1580lbs dry, 3000lb axel, all aluminum underbelly/roof/sides, towing it with a SUV rated for 2800lbs, Neither awning I have are motorized.
I have a similar 'no sink' bathroom in my 17 footer. My solution was to create a tee connection between the shower hose and the shower valve, and use a push button shutoff (and small extension) as the faucet - with the shower head valve off and shutoff on, you have a faucet, and vice-versa for using the shower. No leaving the bathroom to wash your hands, and it cost about 8 dollars in parts.
I have the 16bh and tow it with my 09 Xterra. Tows with no problems (but I have rear air springs installed). Holding tanks are really small if you dry camp. Not really enough room for stuff inside. Get a bigger trailer if you want to camp for more than a few days and stay sane.
Anyone looking at these small, traditional "Stick Built" trailers, should really check out the newly released "Wolf Pup 16PF". Only a few dealers in the country have received one yet, and doubt many will keep them in-stock for long, the floorplan is fantastic for such a small trailer. Around 6-800 pounds heavier than the one in this video, but I don't think you would want to tow either one with a 3500lb tow rated vehicle, which moves you up to 5000lb tow rated vehicles anyway.
Why lift a 450? To tall to haul a 5er in my opinion. Also, it may be just my experience but every lifted truck I've ever owned loses some of its towing capacity. To each their own I guess.....great video btbrv as always we appreciate it!
TRUCKS ARE POOP NOW! You lift it because you'll never use it for it's intended purpose, look at the 22" rims with the ghetto offset. The millennial crowd loves blowing money on stupid stuff. That truck is made just to pull a trailer and do work but Ford will make it luxurious and sell it for way too much. It is almost impossible to buy a real work truck cheap. I bought my first truck without A/C or a radio that was in 1995 you can't do that anymore
World Buddy of mine has the new f450 platinum, and he's like 21 at least! And he's a tall giant, I can't believe it has so much room for him! And he's like 6'10! That's pretty insane for a new generation dually!
This really isn’t bad at all ! My husband and we’re Saying we want something really small. As long as we have a bed , bathroom with shower and kitchen it’s perfect ! We want it for National parks , why would we want more :) wish they bed was a bit better lol
One perk to that tt for me is that it will fit in my garage...along with the jeep....does it come with electric brakes on the axle? I didnt catch if you said it did or not.
akbychoice I’m sure you don’t. Nor do you scrub your toilet with your toothbrush, you still wouldn’t brush your teeth in that though would you. Kitchen sinks get pretty dirty, bathroom sinks are used for personal hygiene, I like to separate the two.
You don't need anything as big as a Durango. Easily towed by just about any SUV with a trailer tow package. Anything with a Tow rating over 3500 lbs will handle that if they can handle the tongue weight.
My wife and I are new to this RV-ing thing and are looking for a small RV like this to get started. We are thinking about getting a hitch put on her 2009 Subaru Forester, and found the Draw-Tite 75650. It will give her a Toung Weight of 600 lbs., and a Towing Weight of 4,000 lbs. Mainly we're just looking to put a little guy like this on a plot of land to live in while we build our home. Then once the house is done, we can use it to putt-putt around the country in for fun. Could we tow this behind her 2009 Subaru Forester with this Draw-Tite hitch?
Something Iike a Tahoe could tow, I’m not a Chevy guy but Tahoe’s can tow over 4 tons. This more in the minivan class, I love how you dismiss the 150 & 1500 chassis as little trucks.
Ha ha 😂!!! 150s and 1500s are Pickups. They are not Trucks. They are for picking up things at the grocery or box stores. Trucks are for hauling and towing things that weigh more than a Pickup. Lol
I work out of Odessa, Texas. I have a bumper pull slightly larger but only by a couple of feet. Pro's: 1.) 10k purchase price. Manageable payments. Quick to pay off. 2.) Less maintenance costs. Inexpensive repairs. 3.) Easy to cool, quick to cool. Easy to warm, quick to warm as well. 4.) Easy to level. 5.) Problems are quickly spotted because there is no wasted or unused space. Con's: 1.) Water tanks are small so everything is drained daily. 2.) Not much room if to live in it if you use it for work or extended vacations. I pull mine with a Dodge Ram 1500 Lonestar Edition with tow package. High winds still whip the trailer. In wide open stretches I keep it at 55mph or less. My daredevil days are long since past. At least that's my take on it.
Love to have that for a Disaster Relief Trailer...trade my 1965 Trotwood command trailer for it! Lol! The front windows are a plus! The awning electrical is really cool!!👍👍
I think for a budget trailer in that size it is good. If it where me a Camplite or Airstream Basecamp is better for those seeking luxury. It seems to be a growing trend now days small but luxury.
thats a very nice small camper, id like to see how it holds up in winter camping, and with a few aftermarket changes it would be down right livable full time. solar, and a better fridge/freezer would be my first upgrades, i might look into one of these now
I'm new to this idea, and am looking to make a move in the next year. When he was talking about water damage and such, could someone, when parked, put a tarp over the top to protect the top? Or is that dumb and not really helpful?
im confused so how would this compare to say a truck camper thats the EXACT same weight as this? this has its own axle and not as much of its weight would be directly ON you truck like a truck camper would be. so if this camper and a truck camper are the same weight seeing how this has its own wheels does that actually make it easier to pull than a truck camper? and question 2 which is easier to pull for your vehicle? i imagine a truck camper would wear out your rear suspension and wheel bearings more? trying to figure out the physics of it all
At 5:38, you showcased the price tag..."they were asking $12,995 ($13K) and now they're asking $9,995 (I wish they would just say 10 grand). I did a quick Google search...found several at the RV Trader website, including a 2014 for $6,000. Buying from a dealer is laughable at times.
Unrelated to this video, but..How is the goosebox doing? We're in that beginning, over research, phase of rv searching and I've been watching some of your videos. I noticed that a year or so ago you had a fifth wheel vs gooseneck video and said you didn't like the idea of the gooesebox because of the stress it puts on the trailer frame, then one from a few months back when you installed one you said you were really liking it. I'm conflicted because I like the idea of the fifth wheel, but she doesn't want to give up bed space for something we might not use much, so that goosebox seems like the best compromise.
It's been great! The original video was referring to gooseneck adapters that attach to the bottom of the kingpin. The Goosebox replaces the entire pinbox.
My family has a small little travel trailer and it really small but it really cool because it has a bed, small kitchen, and a table booth that turns into a bed, and it has a fold out toilet lol, and a lot of storage, I legit wanna live in it 😂 it needs a remodel tho
Commando602 Casita for 10k? The last Casita that was used that I looked at the asking price was $12,500!! That was in 2015, was a 2005, has lots of lived in signs and carpet wear, with a slightly musty smell. It was a 16’ and convinced me to go take aook at what I bought on the spot, a 2015 Forest River Cherokee Wolf Pup 16 FQ, That has everything you need, plus a couple features that are rare in that size, like a Dry Bath, walk around Queen Bed, all LED lighting, 14” Nitrogen filled radial tires on nice Alloy Wheels. We had if since then with no issues other than a faulty Battery replaced by the dealer. It's been from our last home in Massachusetts to as far north as Bar Harbor ME, as far South as Key West Fl and West as Corpus Christi TX. When we retired to Florida and built a new home we lived in Wolfy for 4 months, the wife and I am two dogs and had a blast! Total Price brand new $12,400!!!
Finally a camper I can pull with my lawn mower lol, that's pretty impressive for its size definitely could see this being used as a hunting/fishing trip camper for use on a long weekend plenty of space for your rifle(s) or fishing rods and tackle with enough space for all your clothing, boots etc. just have to put a rack on the back for a boat if you are gonna use it for fishing
Eric, NO. I also live in the PRC. I have a VW New Beatle. It is more powerful than your Prius. The owners handbook stated ,"do not tow any trailer". Your Prius is safe to tow It's own shadow and not much more.
How do you retrofit dual wheels to that axle? Don't much care about the fuel mileage hit from more rolling resistance; one flat tire & the security of it having 2 tires per side pays for itself!
I like smaller RV's now there are better layouts than this and your right about the fiberglass is the way to go. But 9K isn't bad if you can live with the *Ghosts* what ! Lol sorry yeah if you pause at 6:29 from the time the closet door is fully open focusing at the inner edge of the door just above the knob you will see a purple hue of light at first its mixed with the bright light from outside this is you best bet to see the faces as the door opens fully you will see the purple clearer but a little tougher to make out whats there, but also check out the ground just below the closet floor. 6:30-31 also ! Thanks

sounds like broke back mountain
Does it retail for $7,100? Cause I can’t find any that cost that much. Where did you find one that much?
Yeah where did you buy it for that price? i wan't a web site.

At the least, they are implying that sometimes they are NOT honest.

Attsa fact.. But what's even worse is folks that constantly say "trust me". Puts me totally on guard..!

Exactly. The build quality on a lot of these trailers are piss poor. You may not notice it until you buy it.

I have the 16bh and tow it with my 09 Xterra. Tows with no problems (but I have rear air springs installed). Holding tanks are really small if you dry camp. Not really enough room for stuff inside. Get a bigger trailer if you want to camp for more than a few days and stay sane.
One word for fiberglass or gel coat sides... Delamination. Once that occurs you're screwed.
How often does that happen?
I bought a 2017 14RB AR one. This is a great camper trust me. I love mine
Barb, we bought the 2016 version, couldn't agree more : )
@@DD-wn9uy I tow with a 2019 Ford Ranger.
Thanks for the great discount on the Kove bluetooth speaker! Ordered one today using your link.
Thank you!
Why lift a 450? To tall to haul a 5er in my opinion. Also, it may be just my experience but every lifted truck I've ever owned loses some of its towing capacity. To each their own I guess.....great video btbrv as always we appreciate it!
Honestly I think a small lift is ok but that what that 450 has is just down right ugly and stupid looking.
Yep same exact color as well. He has a red one like this man's, but it's not lifted. All stock, which is still big and tall enough!
This really isn’t bad at all ! My husband and we’re Saying we want something really small. As long as we have a bed , bathroom with shower and kitchen it’s perfect ! We want it for National parks , why would we want more :) wish they bed was a bit better lol
$9,995 is highway robbery, especially for used cause used ones are usually damaged
I love this one. Great floor plan for two
I've been looking at campers and have a V6 Nissan frontier. This or something similar would be perfect.
One perk to that tt for me is that it will fit in my garage...along with the jeep....does it come with electric brakes on the axle? I didnt catch if you said it did or not.
yes sir, this one had electric drum brakes
Wow I cant believe how much bigger it is inside then outside!
The kitchen sink is plenty. I’ve never been a fan of two sinks in small places.
akbychoice I don’t like brushing my teeth in the same sink I used to wash food in.
cjeam I don’t scrub my sink with my toothbrush.
akbychoice I’m sure you don’t. Nor do you scrub your toilet with your toothbrush, you still wouldn’t brush your teeth in that though would you. Kitchen sinks get pretty dirty, bathroom sinks are used for personal hygiene, I like to separate the two.
cjeam well, if your kitchen sink is like that you shouldn’t eat of the dishes that are washed in it either.
You don't need anything as big as a Durango. Easily towed by just about any SUV with a trailer tow package. Anything with a Tow rating over 3500 lbs will handle that if they can handle the tongue weight.
Put a container of sanitizing wipes for the hands or a container of hand sanitizer and a roll of paper towels
I was thinking the same thing!
Lol
Any vehicle with a tow rating of 3500 lbs should be able to tow this. Such as. Ford Escape 2.0L 4wd tow package.
A civic can pull this with ease
Are you being serious? This is trailer is what i’d like to purchase and tow with an escape with that tow package, I plan to travel the us
I work out of Odessa, Texas.
I have a bumper pull slightly larger but only by a couple of feet.
Pro's:
1.) 10k purchase price.
Con's:
1.) Water tanks are small so everything is drained daily.
Do you find yourself constantly worrying about power and water consumption in that trailer?
This is spectacular. I love it.
Skip to 4:56 to see the inside.
Our family enjoys your videos. Thank you for your hard work! ???? We have used some of your tips in our own adventures!
thats a very nice small camper, id like to see how it holds up in winter camping, and with a few aftermarket changes it would be down right livable full time. solar, and a better fridge/freezer would be my first upgrades, i might look into one of these now
I have a freightliner sportchassis. Should I upgrade to a bigger truck before towing this camper?
I'm new to this idea, and am looking to make a move in the next year. When he was talking about water damage and such, could someone, when parked, put a tarp over the top to protect the top? Or is that dumb and not really helpful?
im confused so how would this compare to say a truck camper thats the EXACT same weight as this? this has its own axle and not as much of its weight would be directly ON you truck like a truck camper would be. so if this camper and a truck camper are the same weight seeing how this has its own wheels does that actually make it easier to pull than a truck camper? and question 2 which is easier to pull for your vehicle? i imagine a truck camper would wear out your rear suspension and wheel bearings more? trying to figure out the physics of it all
I Don't think I would call this a "coach" more like a deer hunting cabin for one.
@Dill Rogerz
My home has that too, but it's not a coach...
That's good for a couple on a two week vacation. That would surely beat spending $100+ per night on motels!
TheHondaman , two, possibly three people actually. but cute and fills a certain nitch.
@Dill Rogerz no it's not
i have looked at many this size, and out of all of them this one has the best bathroom, i would buy it.
Of course someone could live in it! It's bigger than many cargo trailer conversions people are moving into.
I'm trying to understand tow capacity. What weights do I have to go by to know if my vehicle can tow the unit?
My family has a small little travel trailer and it really small but it really cool because it has a bed, small kitchen, and a table booth that turns into a bed, and it has a fold out toilet lol, and a lot of storage, I legit wanna live in it 😂 it needs a remodel tho
I gotta family of 3. This is perfect for at least campground camping
$10,000? Why not just get a Casita, will last a lot longer.
New casita $20k +
@@k.r.v.4219 Newsflash: a friend just sold his used 2019 Casita....$22,000.
Seems nice for the price. Can something this size get blown around in windy areas?
You know some less intelligent person here in CA is going to put this behind a smart car because you did say any vehicle lol
shhhh shh
just let it happen
😂😂😂
@@The_JEB
No I believe I will film it and some how figure out how to attach it here so you can pee your pants in laughter as well
Or a Prius. I'm from California. You think my Prius could handle it? :)
Eric, NO.
I also live in the PRC. I have a VW New Beatle. It is more powerful than your Prius. The owners handbook stated ,"do not tow any trailer". Your Prius is safe to tow It's own shadow and not much more.
Your the first UA-camr I see that's in corpus, sweet
How do you retrofit dual wheels to that axle? Don't much care about the fuel mileage hit from more rolling resistance; one flat tire & the security of it having 2 tires per side pays for itself!
Dually single axel trailer?? 🤔🤭
Hi are there campers with emergency windows (ones you can push out incase of someone trying to break in pr a fire?)
AMAZING. HAS IT ALL..WOW what a cutie
This thing has a bigger kitchen than most campers twice that size!
Thanks
Dude you have consumed way too many Crayons and smoked way too much Weed 🤯🤣😂
