    I’ve been studying Spanish for literally 14 days and
    I stumbled across this book a few days ago and it has everything I was looking for in a book to make grammar easy.
    I started off all over the place using children’s workbooks to adult grammar books and I couldn’t focus or make good sense of it… but this book made it super simple to understand and practice making sentences
    This book along with my other methods has me picking up things faster and it’s sticking

    This is my favourite book to get the Spanish basics also. It doesn't have the familiar forms of tu or vosotros. Nevertheless, the book is a goldmine in acquiring Spanish. Just a genius method of teaching.
    Margarita Madrigal's Magic Key to Spanish I give the highest recommendation.

    Madrigral is a great book that I've read several times through on my Spanish learning journey. In particular, it immediately points out cognates (English words that we can easily "turn" into Spanish words like, "doctor" and "actor") and the book dives directly into the past tense so we can talk about our past. I also enjoyed that generally speaking, one can get through a lesson in less than 30 minutes, including the written exercises. But...I'd say it also has a few downsides.
    The first is that it doesn't stress the use of informal "tú" and doesn't teach it until the book is in it´s last few chapters. It highly emphasizes the formal 2nd person tense. So speaking too formally to friends and other people my age is now a habit I still struggle to kick. While in Colombia, I literally was told several times that I speak "too formally." haha. I also wish Madrigral had an audio component. Without it, I'd argue that it's easy for someone to poorly learn how to say what they've learned in the book by using their native tongue (though you sound great!).
    All that being said, after Madrigal, I believe the next logical book, and now my favorite, to learn Spanish is, "Complete Spanish Step-by-Step" by Barbara Bregstein. She goes deeper into the nuisances of the Spanish language and it has an audio listening component so people can hear the sound of the language as they study. Bregstein, along with watching Destinos (and going through the Destino's textbook and workbook exercises), as well as reading as much as I can, and listening to at least one audio program (currently Learning Spanish Like Crazy by Patrick Jackson), during my gym workouts are now my go to ways to stay up with the language. Buena Suerte!

      @shespeakspanish  3 місяці тому

      @@welltraveledromeo I appreciate all your feedback and your suggestions. I agree with you on the cons of Madrigal’s Magic Key. I don’t like that it doesn’t have the informal “tu” form and that there is no audio component (yet).
      I will check out the book you recommended by Barbara Bregstein. Destinos is currently a part of my routine, although I haven’t had much time to watch as of recent.

    Yes, it is a good book. However, these days nearly everybody uses tu for the you (familiar form) conjugation in Spanish. Unfortunately this book uses almost entirely the formal usted form which is less common and only mentions the tu form at the end of the book. I recommend "Easy Spanish Step-by-Step" and "Advanced Spanish Step-by-Step" books by Barbara Bregstein.

    Admittedly, I clicked on your video because you're gorgeous but now I'm intrigued with the book. I know a little Spanish, more than the typical person that says, "I only know a little". I clicked on Mike Ben's video as well. He works 65-70 hours a week and STILL was able to learn Spanish fluently with the help of that book. I'm getting ready to order it right now. Thank you very much.

      Also, I appreciate the pronunciation help the book offers. You know, it's funny how differently we all learn. Aside from this book, there have only been two sources I've learned and retained any Spanish from, but I've tried many.
