Greatest band ever, they influenced all who came after them. I've loved The Beatles my whole entire life, a little before my time, but NOBODY surprises you like The Beatles. Only David Bowie comes close to surprising me as much as The Beatles do.
The Beatles were under pressure from their record company to release a single because they had adopted a low profile after their final live performance in Candlestick Park. At the time they were working on the ground-breaking "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" album and its nature had been kept secret. They chose to realease the double-A single, "Strawberry Fields/ Penny Lane" and blew away the music world! Many people say these songs really should be on Sgt Pepper and it's hard to hear them without thinking about Sgt Pepper, just as it's hard to listen to Sgt Pepper without wondering how they would have included these tracks. Ultimately, I think the Beatles made the right decision in releasing the album and the double-A side in the way they did. It's just that I remember how, as a six year old, I first heard "Penny Lane" when it played over the radio in my aunt's house and all the children froze in the middle of a game to listen. I wonder if Gen-Zers have had similar experiences with nodern music? I hope so.
😂😂😂😂😂 🤦♀️ oh look, I found the emoji board! I grew up with this music! 60s - 90s were the greatest years ever! Many of the bands from then are still performing! I love that all these reaction videos are introducing this music to the next generations!
Don't let them bang on you, man! There is a first time for everything. I am a musician, and Beatles are my fav group. I appreciate you diving into their music & life. I think your commentary is great! So keep on doing what you want to do! You will be enriched by every Beatle song you hear (except when Ringo sings! 😊😅😊😅). You know they came out with a new song last year called, NOW AND THEN. John wrote it and sang it while playing piano and recorded it on a cassette tape. After he died, the tape was given to the other 3 Beatles. They worked on it together, but didn't have the technolgy to make it work. Then George died. So Ringo and Paul worked on it last year and finally made it happen. So that one is the last Beatles song. Check it out!.
Each new track was: "and now for something completely different". They made it sound so easy. Ringo's drumming this one , for example. And the bonus coda at the end! The video almost distracts , though.
You're the one of the very few reactions that I stay to listen to all the way thru. Your explanations are intelligent and I enjoy them. Keep enjoying yourself as you continue your trip thru the universe of the Beatles. Listen to RAIN and WITHIN YOU WITHOUT YOU . They'll take you to new places .
The Beatles had a 7 year recording career. Listen to tracks off Please Please Me, With The Beatles, Help, A Hard Days Night, Rubber Soul, Revolver, White Album, Let It Be, Abbey Road. Notice the huge variety of styles and quantum leaps of development from album to album
You seem to have an ear for this! It is great to experience the Beatles chronologically. You can see their growth in a relatively short amount of time. It's really a brief history in music production.
As a 62 year old I’m glad your discovering the Beatles just a I’m happy that I’ve just discovered a new artist to me, Steve Lacy… The Beatles whole back catalogue should keep you busy and entertained!
Strawberry Fields is where John used play, it was between John & Paul’s house in Liverpool. Penny Lane also about Liverpool, the barber’s shop is still there & there is a photo of John cutting Paul’s hair.
Just one of those…’what…how…genius Beatles’ tracks…smooth, simple, complex and it only took you about 20 seconds for the smile to appear in your face. Great stuff.😂

I was a teenager in the 60s and the Beatles were my favorite band. It was really cool listening to them change through the decade. After John Lennon was murdered in NYC in December, 1980 , a 2.5-acre landscaped section in Central Park, New York City was dedicated to his memory. It was named Strawberry Fields. John and his wife Yoko Ono lived next to Central Park and were often seen walking in the city and walking to and from their recording studio. The song “Strawberry Fields Forever” was inspired by Lennon’s childhood memories of playing in the garden of a Salvation Army children’s home called Strawberry Field in Liverpool, England.
No....its not Strawberry Fields. This was filmed in a park in kent. Strawberry Fields was a salvation army home directly behind John Lennons home in Liverpool. Its interesting to note that this is 2 takes put together. Take 7 and take 26. You'll notice the join in the song around 1.29 when take 26 was a higher tempo. George Martin joined the tapes to make a complete song.
You kind of jumped into the Beatles during their psychedelics phase. I love everything about them but they do go through different phases musically, and I love it all.
Lennon bring his childhood stories into this song. FOR ME this song is the very bestest song ever, by the bestest band ever, sang by the bestest lagandary singer ever. Thank you Jay
You should just go from first album to last album in chronological order. It gets good views and is the best way to appreciate all eras of The Beatles.
ABSOLUTELY AGREE!! Starting from their first album and going chronologically as they were released is the ONLY way one can appreciate their growth, how they progressed and evolved in their music.
The Beatles were the first group i learned, very well the words of most songs they wrote. This, while I was in elementary school. In Junior HS band class, the teacher was a huge The Beatles fan, and had us practice songs, each semester we would play at the school gatherings. They were one or two jams, each time (in a collection of 8 - 10 songs). And it lit me up each time we played them.
Pure genius this song. When it first came out I thought the Beatles had flipped, it was so strange, weird for the time but two listens later and BINGO. Just listen to those cellos and violins, so radical
Glad you like it Jay, it's good to get the Beatles into your life, they will only make it better. They have to be one of the best (if not the best) bands ever. For an earlier and simpler tune try 'Yesterday' (one of the most famous and covered songs in history) and for something later wirh a harder, rocky edge try 'Revolution'. Cheers ❤🧡💛💚💙💜 (emoji fart from an old fart!)
This is my absolute favorite Beatles' song! I don't know if this would be the best song to introduce them though. It is kind of dreamy and psychadelic ..and John has had his voice lowered by one key ( which makes it dreamlike) because he liked the way his voice sounded in both takes, but they were in different keys! George Martin had to line up both takes by slowing the tape down until both parts matched! This song is one of John Lennon's songs lyrically and vocally.
Yup, this was the era when they got into LSD and they went fully psychedelic, this song showed the world a flavour of what their following album would be like. The Beatles were prolific songwriters and felt their fans would be short changed if they included their singles on an album, so most of their albums had a strong couple of extra tracks released as a 45rpm record in advance of an album. This single was released as a double 'A' side, as both songs were thought worthy of being hits, which they were. 'Strawberry Fields forever' was mainly John Lennon's song, and the single was backed by Paul McCartney's 'Penny Lane', both songs evoking childhood memories of locations in their home city of Liverpool.
I was 13 when this was filmed in a local park to where my family lived and where I still live, my older brother took me watch the filming, it started my love for music😊
It is difficult to express the feelings of joy when listening to this song when it first came out. Just wonder. Every new album was an experience of going down that rabbit hole of imagination and wonder. The genius that were the Beatles will last to the end of times 🙏 I love them and I will love them forever ♾️ and ever grateful for the joy they brought into my life. Thank John, thank you Paul, thank you George, thank you Ringo 🙏💐 Love oo
Love the show because you don’t talk and interrupt much. Your comments are good. To explain (as an old British person) Strawberry Fields is a park in Liverpool where the Beatles members grew up. It was also LSD (acid) trip in the 60s called Strawberry Fields. So this is a trippy sing. Good luck.
The John Lennon lyrics and vocals are beautiful. I first heard this song the day it came out. Back when the Beatles were around, every time they released a new record it was like a holiday celebration. That makes me 72 years old now but there is no other time period I would have rather lived through. It makes it almost worth it to be old now.
❤You know, something happened when I was making the comment below, and through tears I have to share, JayFlex. 2 1/2 years ago, one of my teenage twin sons ran ahead suddenly, just 6 weeks before their 16th birthday. They'd been living with their dad since age 7, across the country, and once 18 {recently passed that, too} I would start showing them all the things moms do...like my generation's music...especially since the last 9 years I haven't had them living with me, and not my choice but what was best at the time for them. Anyway, the earth twin has Asberger's and his dad tells me he has not been himself since his twin ran ahead and left him here on earth without him. Been grieving all the things I'd intended on telling them/him, sharing once old enough, etc...and now everything is gone. As I was suggesting the below tunes, it popped into my head that I'm doing for you, what I should have had the chance to do with my own precious son. The remaining twin sort of withdraws and their dad is trying everything. He has what his twin had, too...no cure, no symptoms, just bam...gone. And finding your channel lets me at least share some of what I'll never get to share with my own beloved boys, with you.
Not necessary, I have never smoked anything, and had NO problem making sense of their music or videos. I have been a fan since the beginning, when I was 16/17 years old when the Beatles first came to the U.S. on Feb. 7th, 1964, I fell happily into "Beatlemania" and I STILL have the "disease" to this day! LOVE THEM and ALWAYS WILL.
When this first came out it was probably the most talked about piece of music ever. Can you imagine hearing this for the first time in 1967 . Nothing like it then or since
Start at the beginning- early Beatle songs: A HARD DAYS NIGHT, SHE LOVES YOU, IF I FELL, THIS BOY.... to start with....each stage of their musical progression is great!
The Beatles started EVERYTHING. They were the first band that didn't showcase 1 individual like, Buddy Holly and the, or Bill Haley and the, or Danny and the...they were just the Beatles. They were the first to write and play their own material. In February 1964 they shot to super-stardom after doing the Ed Sullivan Show. The screaming fainting girls was sort of a thing with them. In April 1964 they had the top 6 songs on the Billboard 100. They harmonized with fun uplifting playful lyrics with a unique sound new to the world. They open the flood gates of rock and roll inspiring and influencing many future stars. They were 4 witty, likable, well-dressed lads. The world wanted to be the Beatles. Then they dropped acid and took everything to a whole nother level. They just got better and better. They were a phenomenon. One can only hope to experience something like Beatlemania, I'm glad I was there.
Oh yeah? 🍓🍓🍓🍓Fields Forever. Xenial represent! Experienced in both being a feral kid and a tech savy adult. 😄 This song has been my online name for 30 years now. One of the best songs the Beatles ever did!
You never knew what you were gonna get. They did country (Act Naturally), heavy metal (Helter Skelter), old soul (Oh Darling), polka music (Obla Di Obla Da), folk rock (We Can Work It Out), violin style music (Elinore Rigby), trumpet stuff (Got to Get You Into My Life), Indian sitar stuff (The Inner Life) and on and on.
Yeah, I'm a baby boomer and this was back when you needed talent, not a dig, but true. You couldn't sample a beat or have unlimited tracks. 4 was your limit for years. Bands had to play together on one track so you could have two tracks to put the vocal in the center of the song and have one track left for a solo or bass line or whatever. It may be much easier to express yourself musically and have a virtual studio in your bedroom with as many tracks and effects as you want, but there was an awe about bands such as The Beatles. Each new album set new frontiers in music and creativity. I'm glad that a Gen Zed-er as yourself can take this music seriously and appreciate it. Thanks.

Strawberry Fields was the name of a Salvation Army Childrens home near where John Lennon lived.
All of the girls wore black the day after John was murdered. ...it was a sad time for all of us.

Except they were never nasty to ppl or put them down or were judgmental
Glad they turned left at Greenland :)-
😂😂😂😂😂 🤦♀️ oh look, I found the emoji board! I grew up with this music! 60s - 90s were the greatest years ever! Many of the bands from then are still performing! I love that all these reaction videos are introducing this music to the next generations!
The Beatles are without a doubt, my favorite band.
Not mine
@@stevens5541you must have sustained some sort of mild gear trauma then.
@@stevens5541Why are you even bothering to comment? 😮
Yes. And Magical Mystery Tour: a reissue of #1 hits plus gems like Baby You’re a Rich Man.
The Beatles were genius writers and players. They wrote hundreds of incredible songs. You could study them for years. Get To it.
They do teach college courses on their music.
Love it!!! They were so ahead of their time. The music is timeless and real. Thanks for reacting for Gen Z.
Strawberry Fields is where John used play, it was between John & Paul’s house in Liverpool. Penny Lane also about Liverpool, the barber’s shop is still there & there is a photo of John cutting Paul’s hair.
Nothing more mesmerizing than John's voice on this track.
Some of my favorites/ HELTER SKELTER / THINK FOR YOURSELF/ ELEANOR RIGBY/ IF I FELL/ HOLD ME TIGHT/ AND I LOVE HER / YOU CAN'T DO THAT/ THIS BOY/
Not only are parts of the video backwards, but so is some of the instrumentation!
Just one of those…’what…how…genius Beatles’ tracks…smooth, simple, complex and it only took you about 20 seconds for the smile to appear in your face. Great stuff.😂
I remember listening to the Beatles for the first time in the late 1970's and having the same reaction as you. Ive been a fan for over 40 years and it makes me smile to know that young people, today, can love it too.
ditto
Psychedelia of the late 60's early 70's.
Beatles known for creativity,, experimenting.
You mean this heart emoji?❤️😊omg me a gen x think I've found them yay😮😁🎵🎶
Great reaction again..
BEATLES, obviously,.#1..
Keep digging..
I was born in 1967. This song scared me when i was little
me too, the summer of love PEACE LOVE n HIPPYNESS ✌💖☮
No....its not Strawberry Fields. This was filmed in a park in kent.
Strawberry Fields was a salvation army home directly behind John Lennons home in Liverpool.
Its interesting to note that this is 2 takes put together.
Take 7 and take 26.
You'll notice the join in the song around 1.29 when take 26 was a higher tempo.
George Martin joined the tapes to make a complete song.
A song called Roundabout by YES off the Fragile album. I've been dancing to Roundabout for 53 years. The GOATS of prog
HI I'm really enjoying your reactions, 'tomorrow never knows' is a must!
You kind of jumped into the Beatles during their psychedelics phase. I love everything about them but they do go through different phases musically, and I love it all.
Absolutely. As we did growing up, it worth i5 to find the pre60’s stuff, then work your way up through mid to late 60’s and on. Solo careers etc too.
😅First generation Beatle kid here. Glad you’re finding this old stuff fun.😊
Love the whole “Sgt. Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band Album” by the Beatles!!!
Lennon bring his childhood stories into this song. FOR ME this song is the very bestest song ever, by the bestest band ever, sang by the bestest lagandary singer ever. Thank you Jay
I bought the single early 1967 and still get goosebumps listening to this track. Magic!
The heartbreaking Beatles song "She's leaving home" if you haven't heard it, you will love it.
That and Eleanor Rigby are my two favorite Beatles songs.
Hear! hear!
You should skip the Beatles as they are boring
Your comments are always so soul deep and genuine for a Gen-Z and i love & appreciate that🧡🧡♥♥
All the sounds harmonizing together is absolutely spot on with The Beatles! Welcome! Enjoy!
😽💋🎶🖤
Nice to see younger people appreciating older music.
Love your reaction to this crazy, amazing masterpiece. The Beatles worked hard to make their soundscapes.
Only 58 years old. Brilliant, music and art.
Well done Jay mate. That was a good watch seeing Strawberry Fields Forever making you smile. Have fun finding and enjoying new sounds. 😉
Do check out by the Beatles ‘Here Comes the Sun”. You will feel good.
This song is a masterpiece. It works as an acid trip and the video reflects the disjointed feeling the trip produces.
Many of their songs end abruptly while others seem to be ending, like this one, then come up in volume and continue. They’re always surprising!
The greatest Beatle song ever, the greatest so ong, fore ever. Strawberry fields forever.
Cheers ❤🧡💛💚💙💜 (emoji fart from an old fart!)
you're doing great , dude.. I love your sense of humor
To me this is the greatest song ever recorded for lots of reasons. There is no other song like it.
the first song to have a video for it - WAY before MTV! ----
Strawberry Fields was a park where John's mother took him.
Thank John, thank you Paul, thank you George, thank you Ringo 🙏💐 Love oo
the beatles rabbit whole is deeper than the ocean.
Good luck.
The drumming and echoes 😮 just incredible
Promotional film from 1967. This makes more sense if you smoke something beforehand.
Hell I'm 76 and I know where the emogi board is and much more.😅😅
This was one of my favourite songs to dance to - I was transformed every time
You never knew what you were gonna get.
The "...nothing to get hung about..." lyric is about a friend of theirs that hung himself when he was told he had a brain tumor...I think.
❤Another great video! Thank you!
Wonderfully trippy. >☮☮🕊🕊💕💕
Thanks.
Not what you expected, eh? That was the genius of The Beatles - no two tracks were ever the same and they 'never' gave you what you expected. 🙂
