- AT Velkhana is one of the best fights in Iceborne. Velkhana was already a pretty good monster but the AT version made it perfect. Great and varied moveset, easy to recognise patterns, perfect amount of speed and downtime, maybe a tad too bulky.
This is why I was so disappointed by Velkhana's return in Sunbreak. She got nerfed a lot, even if she does have some patterns and attacks from AT Velkhana. But they gave her so much downtime, made her slower, less aggressive...
This fight is probably an even bigger skill check than both Fatalis and Alatreon. If you've beaten AT Velkhana, then you conquered Iceborne. Even AT Velkhana's theme is called "Iceborne's End".
I personally find Velkhana as a monster much less interesting than the Elder Trio, the ice stuff just never clicks with me, but she is still very well designed, with pretty much her entire moveset and animations being unique.
This run could've been better if I wasn't bad, but unfortunately, I am. The fastest run on AT Velkhana with Hammer is 5:45 so... Yeah, this is really nothing special. I hope this is still acceptable to watch.

Fr tho, AT Velkhana had the perfect amount of aggressiveness, but it's not to the point that it's hard to attack. That, the elegant moveset, how bulky it is, and how interactive the ice can be just makes AT Velk one of my fave monsters to fight in IB.
Don’t be too hard on yourself about your completion time, the top AT velkhana hammer runs involve spamming the aerial spin attack, which is much less interesting to watch than this run imo
Thank you. I was thinking the same but I didn't want to belittle them for that, although they did require a good chunk of RNG on what actions Velkhana does + where does she leave ice puddles. I didn't really want to push for a better time because of that
I love how clean this fight is. The openings feel organic and reward aggressive dodging, and the combos are short rather than the monster doing 4 attacks and then a long taunt, which is how Rise endgame fights feel.
Excellent play, very clean.
Seeing this made me remember all the times Velkhana kicked my ass until I finally managed to beat her. Great video

As the other blunt weapon, (HH main.) You did well, sibling. It was a gorgeous run to watch. I wish for many buffs, stuns and part breaks to occur in your future hunts.

Just found your amazing videos and I wanted to make a proper comment now that I'm fully awake. Watching you is like art in motion and it's great motivation to a lot of players to improve in the game. I'm not there yet (Longsword user here) but I've definitely gotten better.
I would LOVE to see guides from you about how to play different weapons. I know many people would love that! Keep being awesome and hope your Hunts continue to be fun and exciting!

just wanted to say thanks for the awesome content recently, and also how i love how effectively you utilize the entire weapons moveset!! makes me want to get back into world
I can't lie one of the big reasons why you are among my favourite monster hunter channels is the insights and thoughts you give in the description. I would be quite bored if the devs are planning for just iceborne to keep everyone occupied until wilds. Surely they have something cooking especially given a year as monumental as this one for the franchise.

This monster is more challenging than Fatalis for me when I first encountered it 🥶. It still kinda is to this day! Very satisfying to see u bonking AT Velky till it's seeing stars so many times 😵💫. I didn't know about Sunbreak Velky. I'll take your word for it 😄. Nice run, Lynn!! I thoroughly enjoyed it!

if IB monster is not easy too flinch ko or clagger it will be more fun to me I like sunbreak more becasue I cant accident stun lock them especially elder dragon like Velkhana that make them more active fight than IB for me. nice video as always tho.

While I wasn't stuck on AT Velkhana for NEARLY as long as I was with Fatalis (I didn't beat him until new years eve of that year), Velkhana was definetly just as frustrating for me because of that damned timer. But it was all the more cathartic when I finally did claim victory.

Downside to this quest compared to AT Nergi is that Commander didn't call us a true Monster Hunter after. But for real, excellent gameplay and really inspired choice using the Blizzeta theme :D
What mod you use for that old world item carved sound effect? I want that so bad! Thanks and beautiful run btw! I would make so much mistake by predicting what move would you use in this run if it were me.

When Velkhana was announced I expected it to be like AT of course, but I knew it wasn't gonna be as such challenge
However, I still got disappointed by the treatment they gave to the iceborn wyvern, I guess they put all or most efforts on Risen Valstrax
