I think this is one of the best vlogs you have done, you are so relaxed and happy, your passion for your animals and garden shines through and makes this very watchable. 🐓❤️
A well dressed, good looking, hard working, spider killing, Excellent Husband! What a man!❤ Well done! Lidia is a blessed woman! Men and young men take note!
Ali, I grew up on an organic farm and I am very familiar with the farm animal/ veg waste compost cycle. Probably because of this I chose to move to the city, far away from all of that. Of course this was before all of this was “cool”. After watching your videos and seeing the beautifully aesthetic manner in which you do all of these country basics, maybe, just maybe you have softened my heart toward country life. 😉 I really enjoy your videos. The quality of them is exceptional and the content useful and captivating. Thank you for creating them and sharing them with us.
😍 I wouldn’t mind gaining some of your knowledge, i’m sure when the time is right you will re-visit it. The City provides so much that the countryside doesn’t, swings and roundabouts…
Love that you are using a compost. Best soil you can make, knowing what's going into them. Cycle of life in a way. You are a good steward of these lovely girls.
Your chickens need a swing mine love the swing the actually line up to have a turn on the swing just made from a thin log with a rope great fun to watch.
Beautiful coop. I line mine with a piece of floor linoleum which can be taken out and washed, the nesting boxes with cardboard which I compost. I once had a shock infestation of red mites and apart from online recommendations of burning the coop, I came across a simple solution and have never had a problem since. Get a large bunch of oregano and crush it in vegetable oil, brush and rub on perches and all open wood surfaces in the coop. They were hiding in some composite wood supporting either end of the of the perches. Smothered them in oregano oil! I now rub the wood every 3-4 months with this oil solution, it also makes them look beautiful 😊 Thanks for sharing your lovely garden.
I grew up with chickens in garden; lovely fresh eggs you can't beat. I would say you will end up with another compost box; one to fill, one turning into compost and one ready to use. Lovely job.
The Hen Ritz this is! You have so much gorgeous space for growing massive amounts of food. What beautiful grounds you have 😍. Keep up the good work and definitely put on some sort of face covering while you clean coop. All the best! 😊
My husband checks my boots, pots, and the greenhouse for spiders for me🤣🤣🤣 and in the summer I wield a pole like a light saber through the yard before harvesting. A web to the face is a sight to see for any neighbor 😅 and send me in a paranoid “I know it’s on me somewhere “ frenzy.
I learn so much from you!! You’re really excellent at explaining things and the “summary” at the end on how the chicks have impacted your lives/garden was really quite special. Also, on a side note you look 12 without your 5 o’clock shadow! 😂😂 In the best way possible of course!!
This is the first video I’ve seen on this channel… so this has probably been discussed multiple times, but WHAT BREED OF CAT IS THAT??? It’s so gorgeous!
@@AliGordon I’ve never seen an orange bengal before! I actually had a grey bengal years ago, but he was striped, not spotted like that! Just gorgeous!!
Wow!😳🫣….who knew chickens were that much work.🫤. I complain about cleaning my son’s hamster cage! LOL. Yikes! I love the music with this video! And I am impressed with how well you two take care of your animals. ❤️❤️
I really enjoyed this video…. It feels great knowing that these beautiful, generous creatures have knowledgeable and loving caretakers. Great job Ali. !! ✨✨✨
Those are happy hens. I still laugh when I remember the blog were you were trying to name them. That was hilarious … … … and to think that it was Lids that wanted the chickens, and now our are the one that does 95% of the care/maintenance/. You are really a Handy Handsome man Ali 😊❤
Ugh I miss my chickens. We had to give ours to another keeper due to us moving to an area we could no longer keep them. I miss them. Glad you guys took this up.
Real quick, what is the product you use to disinfect the coop. We did that as well, but just wondering if you had a specific product you guys liked to use.
Your raised garden is the most beautiful I have seen! Where did the greenhouse come from/manufacturer?? I love the thick beams u use on the beds!! Bravo!
Great job! Please be safe though, I think it would be a good idea to wear a mask when cleaning out the chicken coop, so you don't breathe in the straw dust, etc. Think of the long-term health of your lungs.
We did fermented feed with our girls with herbs and DE... easier for them to absorb, and the yolks got even darker orange when we added the herbs. ❤ I'm sure they get herbs a plenty in the garden, these boujie girls are so fortunate!!
My favourite video to date as you appear relaxed, joyful and playful. Your girls are clearly happy and content, signs of a caretaker who has put the time and energy in to making them feel comfortable and safe. My concern is your breathing in the dust while cleaning and again while emptying the contents from the coop into your compost bin. Wearing a well-fitting mask protects your health now and in the future. Remember that facial hair can greatly impact the effectual fitting of a protective mask. Than-q for sharing this lovely aspect of your life. Be well! With gratitude and grace!
Great vlog the chickens are well looked after. And the outside area. But can I just suggest that when you clean the coup that you wear a mask. Protection against getting lung and breathing problems. Their dust is toxic so research on how to care for your own health. Loved the Scotland vlogs, a trip down memory lane , my heart was stolen after my first visit of many more back in 2009 I miss Scotland. 😊
My husband’s grampa grew up on chicken farm in New Jersey. He used to say that chickens laid more eggs if didn’t take all their eggs & left one egg in coop. Love & envy your coop & chickens! Blessings
I’m a bit smitten with that metal “shovel” your using to scrape out the coop. 👍🏻 Your hens are far more patient in the morning than mine…. my girls are very eager to run about the yard. I raised the chicks indoors where they were exposed 4 times each day to my dog. This way, both the dog and my hens are completely comfortable with each other. You’ve got a great enclosure for the safety of your hens. Enjoyed your video! And yeah, you’re not the only one who talks to your chickens! 🤣🤣
I grew up taking care of chickens and agree that they are quite humorous to watch sometimes. Our chickens also ruled the roast, so to speak, over the cats. The cats were very subservient around the hens. :)
This was incredibly helpful and a pleasure to watch. Thank you so much for sharing your routine. You do it with such grace and love. I’m so inspired and am going to try my hand at composting this summer with our chickens☺️
What a delightfully wholesome vlog ♥️ lucky girls having such diligent care! It’s amazing that the boys have got so used to them, I would love chickens but am so worried that my dogs would not cope.
Good idea with automatic door. We had that chicken wire up and a fox blew a big hole through it, metal melted like butter, we couldn't believe it. Never used it again. Have stronger wire up now. It only keeps chickens in, doesn't keep fox out.
I still cannot believe that you do not have a fencing cloth over the top of the chickens enclosure. Here in California we always have a “roof” over the top of their enclosure. We have coyote, birds of prey and so many other things would come in an jump back out with one of your precious chicks. I’m sure you have done your research.
You are quite rhe well dressed and handsome gentleman farmer one thinks of. How do you stay so put together, mucking out the coop and working in the garden and do you have any rodent/rat problems? It's like a fantasy dream, but here you are doing it. Well done Sir.
Like your set up for your chickens! Any roosting bars in the coop! Maybe you could spray your "pig hut" shade piece with outdoor white paint to make it blend in with the white coop? It definitely is a good idea for more covered space for the birds! Nice greenhouse! Love the raised beds and gravel pathways. Beautiful cat! What breed? Looks like a Savannah type! God Bless!😊
Hello, I also love being a gardener! ....you do an incredible job, congratulations on the results, the chicken coop is incredibly beautiful, that's what my garden is missing 🤗 I really liked the terraces that you have put in your garden, (the crop beds) the kitten is beautiful, it stands like a tiger, I will love to continue learning here in your beautiful space, it is a Learn I leave my installation completely and everything activated 🤝🏻✍🏻👈🏻🔔👌🏻✔️ Receive greetings and we will see you again very soon 🌵🌻👩🏻🌾🇲🇽 21:24
Please wear a mask when cleaning out the coop! You don't want to breathe in the pooh dust and dander into your lungs over time. Beautiful garden setup and greenhouse! So orderly! Cute chicken coop. Good on ya for taking such great care of the chickens.
Your run looks pretty but you need a run that is avian flu proof plus tarps as chooks do not like wind and driving rain. Wet ground just promotes bacteria. Electric fence and a gun to deal with the fox. Please look at The chicken whisperer (Claire Taylor) for best advice 😊
The chickens love you 😍, the garden is their playground. A possible reason that they are not laying eggs after the big clean might be the smell of the cleaner you use.
You are very lucky to have your climate, I have to struggle with ice and snow😊, and off course the freezing temperature. What desinfectant do you use? I use Dettol, which I learned to know since my time in UK. I breed chickens for showing, so I use Dettol to disinfect eggs, as well as the incubators with it. One thing I would discouraged you from, is to feed your birds outside of the Coop, you might attract mice etc. Greetings from an icy Norway 😊
This will sound a bit weird but you have the cutest compost bins! 🥰. This is the first of your videos that I’ve seen. Thoroughly enjoyed the vibe! Nice! And such a beautiful grouping of eggs and a nice manageable coupe. 🥰 You’ve definitely got me thinking about grabbing a handful of chicks! 💜
Dear Ali, excellent video! I have learned quite a bit from this "how to video." You said it takes about 15-20 daily maintenance; how long would you estimate it took you to do the whole "spruce up"? I grew up with dogs and horses and have always wanted chickens.
I think I like this little life 🥰
See, your kitchen garden and getting chickens was a great idea! 👏🏾
I love your life, and this video in particular, made me so happy! I now have a smaller version kitchen garden because of you😍
Indeed! There is something delightful in wandering thru the garden along with dog and hens❤
You have a BIG Life......and it's beautiful and inspiring ❤❤❤❤❤❤
You have such a good egg ☺️❤️ find yourself a man willing to deep clean the chicken coop!
The chickens are lucky to be in the care of such thoughtful owners!! Well done.
Absolutely in awww!!! Wow … the girls are adorable 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 Ali excellent job 😘😘😘

I adore your chickens! ❤ I especially appreciate your attention to detail in taking care of them. They’ve got a good chicken daddy.
Amazing hard work you do to maintain the chickens!!! You should be proud of yourself. Thanks for showing us 😊
I love everything about this video!
Such wholesome content 😌
This video was so calming, love the cleaning of the coop!
What a lovely thoughtful man Ali is! 😊

Agree, my neigbour also told me to get three from the beginning, I’m sure before I know it we will have
I want chickens!!!! Those are some lucky chickens. You’re a great and caring keeper. 🥰
Ali Gordon gentleman farmer. Only Ali could make shoveling chicken poo look glamorous ❤

Love that! Hahaha
The best set up Ive ever seen for chickens.
I absolutely love what you both have done with your home and backyard. It was so sweet when all the chickens were walking over to you💕
Really enjoyed this, thanks Ali.

You do a great job caring for them, and your biodiversity principles. It's all very lovely and inspiring. thank you!

I am new so you may have covered this. I would recommend putting paving slabs/ slat around the fence in case a fox digs under.

Thank you for showing what it entails to care for chickens. I’ve seen a lot chickens but not much on the upkeep.
Aaah what a life, so much love given into everything you do 🤗
You're such a good chicken dad. Not surprised. They're lucky to have you.

Good to have chickens and take of them. Just remember what you are holding and hanging on. As it gets older his nature of hunting will come out!

Love your raised garden beds did you build these? What size is the lumber? Gorgeous.
I'm a gardener with arachnophobia as well. Try as I might to "appreciate" all they do in my garden. They still make my skin crawl.
