- Outrun 2 (アウトラン2) is a 2004 racing game originally developed by Sega AM2 for the Chihiro arcade board. The following year, it was ported to the Xbox by Sumo Digital.
Unique to this port is an unlockable version of Daytona USA 2’s challenge course. Like in Power Edition, it combines all three tracks into one continuous course. The same treatment is also given to the tracks in Scud Race.

The world needs more OutRun... Would it be too much if we asked Sega to renew (or remove) the Ferrari license and re-release this game on modern platforms?
I don't think they'd simply be able to get around licensing issues by changing a badge like they did in the original game. Gotta renew the license.

@@yahushaking4367 The main problem with Outrun 2 is that it has Ferrari licencing all over it, especially with all of the car being near exact replicas of real-life Ferrari cars
Loving the 60fps capture, feels like im playing it.
Unfortunately backwards compatibility in the 360 isn't perfect so you'll notice a few frame drops here and there (especially during the last leg of the race).

One of the best (feel good) game of all time. I can play this over and over and over and over again. So relaxing.

There’s actually a way to get hold of some of the delisted games. Unsold codes are still available on some sites. I got Sega Rally Online Arcade for the 360 a few months back this way. No mods needed.
Ah! the good old times, when the racing games are in smooth 60fps, love the Sega racing games, all of them since *Hang-on!*

Outrun wasn't a racing game, it was a driving game.
That Daytona 2 track tho.. just need a ‘Roland Emmerich’ directed cut scene where the swinging boat at the start breaks off crushing all the cars underneath and wiping out any spectators! 😜
That’s a Ferrari meet-up race, I like this.
OutRun 2 is still on my "To Do List", but the day simply has not enough hrs... LOL

Aww yeah, the Japanese Xbox version of OutRun 2! The Daytona USA 2 Challenge/MIX track looks much closer to the arcade, which slightly edges over the US Xbox release. Now if only Sega can renew the Ferrari license to re-release OutRun Online Arcade on modern platforms...
It's a shame Online Arcade is only based on 2SP. Probably better to port 2006 since it has everything except some lighting effects.
I wish there's a special SEGA themed Outrun stage, where we traverse over various Sega worlds, new and old, like Sonic, Panzer, Virtua, Yakuza etc.

Awesome. I softmodded my two original Xboxes myself some time ago, but when I had a look at the possibility of doing the same with my 360 it looked way too difficult.
I mainly did it to get access to some delisted games I neglected to buy at the time (After Burner Climax, OutRun Online Arcade, Sega Rally Online Arcade) and some Japanese games that never made it over here (Virtual-On, Virtual-On Force). As an added bonus, I later found out that modded systems have greater backwards compatibility than retail systems. I've actually been able to play quite a bit of Gunvalkyrie, which isn't an officially supported original Xbox game. Some others just fail tho. Was really hoping Gungriffon: Allied Strike would work, but nope...
Saturn Memories That's a good idea for getting those first three games you mentioned if you missed out on them first time - I often get people commenting on my videos asking how they can get Outrun Online Arcade and After Burner Climax. That's also the reason I'm planning on never getting rid of my PS3, despite the fact I got a PS4 recently (that and all the awesome Sega and Namco PS Move on rails shooters). I'm sure you already have it, but if not, make sure you give OG Xbox Panzer Dragoon Orta a go on your 360. It looks amazing upscaled.
Yeah, I beat Orta on my retail console ages ago. I know there are a few graphical issues with one or two levels, but other than that, it's gorgeous. One of these days I will get around to recording all the PD games.

Outstanding game, although much less colorful than his Model 3 counterpart.
It’s plenty colourful… If you mean the deep vibrancy of those colours then I agree, but that always was the problem with the original X Crate games, the colours always had that washed out and sometimes yellow haze type filter on them.

Outrun 2 was the ABSOLUTE SEX and played like a dream.
It's my fourth favourite game of all time.
If I ever won the Euro Lotto, one of the things I would do is fund SEGA to create Outrun 3 with myself in the role of Executive producer....
And I would hire Jessie J (UK RN'B/Pop singer), Jessy J (US Latino Sax player) and Buckethead (US Rock guitarist) to collaborate on the soundtrack.

No, Sega does not currently have the Ferrari license, so the game isn't a b/c title on Xbox One.
I always get confused about these tracks. So, both Daytona 2 and Scud Race tracks are exclusive of the japanese version of OutRun 2, right? There is no orther port with those tracks?
No they're in the US version, I just think they're only in the original Outrun 2 release and were taken out of 2006

As PFBM said, they're in both the US and Japanese versions of OutRun 2 on Xbox. You'll still probably want the Japanese version though. It came out several months after the US version, so there was more time to faithfully recreate the tracks. The US version is slightly different.
That's interesting, do you have both versions? Can you do a version comparison video showing the differences?

why do you change gear when you drift? It's not daytona
There is gear drifting in OR2, but it's not quite as complicated as Daytona. Depending your speed, you can initiate a drift simply by dropping one or two gears. Dropping additional gears will give you more traction through tough turns.
