The year is 19XX. Everyone plays Tauros/Snorlax/Alakazam at TAS levels of perfection. Because of this, the winner of a match depends solely on port priority. The Rock Paper Scissors metagame has evolved to ridiculous levels due to it being the only remaining factor to decide matches. Humanity has reached its pinnacle.
It's crazy that it took two decades for anyone to realise Normal is immune to Body Slam's paralysis chance.

I know that I'm a year late replying, but the class lectures in Pokemon Stadium 2 did mention this. They say that in the previous games that the secondary effects didn't occur if the target had the same type as the move, and now it had changed and moves like Spark can paralyze electric Pokemon.
Actually, growth also boosts special, but no one uses that. Either way, I'm glad you've motivated me to play 1v1 and experiment with sets that wouldn't be usable anywhere else.
You're right, I forgot about Growth (Venusaur Victreebel, and Tangela). Glad I could inspire you!
@@EloBandit I assume the issue with growth is that it is just worse than auto-crit razor leaf from Venusaur and Victreebel, and Tangela isn´t very common.

About the "body slam cannot paralyze normal types": yes that is true but it's part of a broader "attacks cannot inflict a status condition if the move's type is the same as the target's". Body Slam vs Normal, Thunder(bolt) vs Electric, Blizzard vs Ice, etc. I guess the Body Slam is by far the most common tho, so I guess I could see why it would be abridged as such.
but you can use thunder wave on electrics in old gens right?
You can thunder wave and paralyze an electric type in older gens, sure. (I think that changed in gen 6 or 7.) But that's a status move and not comparable to attacks such as Body Slam. You can't paralyze a Zapdos with Thunderbolts no matter how much you try.
