@@derekplautz7846 You should get power on both wires, when you press the brake pedal and green wire should get ground that means your BCM is good, if you have power on blue wire your fuse is good then you have open circuit on your solenoid.
@@WrenchingRyan thanks for the quick reply, missed the part where it had to be connected. Tried again with it connected and got power but no ground when brake is pressed. New BCM on the way. Thanks for the video, big help!
good work i have the same issue with DTC code P0504 when clearing the code with scan tool the shifter working good but after some time it back again with the same code replaced the brake switch and the same issue any solve or advice?? thanks alot
@WrenchingRyan I have the same issue with my wife’s Kia Sorento 2016. I purchased a used bcm online and fixed the shift issue… now the key fobs won’t work with the new to me bcm. How can I fix the key fobs?
@@marek30144 you need a scanner to perform programming, if you have both fob both of them need to be done, I’m not sure if aftermarket scanner will do the job. Thanks for watching.
@@karenkolczniski4251 I have the same problem in a 2016 Sorento. The screwdriver inserted into the shift lock release (located to the left of the shifter on the console) might be a "permanent" fix for me as I refuse to pay the cost to replace the BCM. I replaced the brake switch (easier and cheaper) but it didn't work for me.
I have a similar problem with a Kia Stinger. Gear shifter moves without having to press on that button but transmission does not move out of Park. Gears move as though it's connected as it should, it isn't loose. Car was in an accident. What could be the issue?
Price may vary depending on location, we quote the customer for 1900 dollars which is includes BCM, labor, diagnostic and fob programming. But the customer declined the repair, the module is the most pricey one. Thanks for watching.
@@WrenchingRyan I can understand why they would have declined. I would have too, since the BCM is only about $500 online and dealerships get their parts much cheaper than the public can. The key fob programming is also a huge dealership profit center, for something that is relatively trivial (kits are available online). The real issue is that this should be recognized as a true defect by KIA and should be fixed for free. Or a class action lawsuit should be brought. This is the trouble with cars today. Critical components are made out of plastic and easily break. Same with KIA door handles and door lock mechanisms that break because of cheap plastic part inside. And when the car manufacturer sees its actually a design flaw, they hide that info from the public and every dealership acts like its some "unique" problem the customer is having when in fact tens of thousands of owners are all experiencing the same costly design flaw.
This issue should be a safety recalled, since the BCM is malfunction you can able to start the engine when in reverse or drive but kia never release one.
@WrenchingRyan I'm trying to figure out how to remove my center console to fix the shifter cable right now . At least it happened on the way home and I could shift into park by hand on transmission. I hate plastic fasteners .
Was they video posted for changing out the bcm?
Unfortunately customers declined the repair. Thanks for watching.

What if I have no power to the green wire? Checked fuses they were good.

You have to get your fob to re program.
Would it be the standard reprogram procedure. Switching the keys on and off till the lock cycles then pushing the lock/unlock button on the fob?

Have you got the replacement bcm video. My 2016 sorento has exactly this issue. Does the repair need to be done by Kia?
Unfortunately the BCM cost is way too much for the customer and they decided to declined the service.
What does that even mean? If they refuse to provide the service, how do u get it fixed? I'm having the same problem

What computer are you using to check the BCM?
It’s a factory KIA scanner.
sir what kind of scan tool do you use?
I used OEM scanner from KIA called GDS. Thanks for watching.

Is a front end accident? If yes it could be your inhibitor switch is broken or the cable itself.

brake lights works?
@@WrenchingRyan yes working
My stick shift can move, it’s just not turning over like yours.
Probably the shift assembly is causing the issue.

I have not seen a kia optima failing BCM, probably something they broke during breaking in.

It’s actually the BCM causing this issue. Too bad the module is way too much, customer declined the repair.

My shifter is so hard to put in reverse and drive
I have to manually pulled as hard as I can?!
Probably your shifter assembly is worn out.
