Very cool to see a tournament summary like this. And definitely really good information for running ones own tournament. Some buddies and I are planning to start doing this at our FLGS for LI. It was also really encouraging to see that people weren't min maxing and optimizing their lists and it looked like people were building for rule of cool with the units and formations that were choosing. A really great gaming group all round.
Glad you enjoyed the video -- and I agree, we have a good group of players. If you have some solid players with you, I definitely encourage you to run an event. Let us know how it goes!
Great video! Makes me want to run a tournament myself. Sounds easier than I would expect. Questions for ya: who won the tournament and what was the winning list?
If you have some players, I definitely encourage you to organize an event! You're right that it was pretty easy, but I think part of that was because it was low stakes and we all know each other. As soon as you add people walking in sight unseen, entry fees, and prizes, the stress level will rise. If it's your first tournament you are organizing, definitely start small and keep it low stakes. As for who won, strictly speaking I did, as I went 2-0, but since I was judging and organizing, I excluded myself prior to the start of the tournament from eligibility. You can see my army list in the video in the description. Jeff was the runner-up and won on victory points with his Solar Auxilia force.
The vanquisher cannon really should be nerfed not only for balance against the Leman Russ battle cannon but for play in general. We added 10 points per vanquisher and they are still worth the upgrade.
GW's new policy of no longer having points for upgrades hurts the game, in my opinion. There have always been "best options", but taking anything other than the obvious best choice feels like shooting yourself in the foot, instead of a slight disadvantage.
Something does need to happen because there really is very little reason to take anything else. It either needs to be nerfed, increased in points, or the other Leman Russ weapon options need a points decrease (or some combination of the three).

Absolutely. The titan weapons suffer from this also.
