Welp I’m about to show how much of a nerd I am, here goes: the author of the Jurassic Park novel, Michael Crichton, admitted to taking inspiration from this exact animal for the Dilophosaurus. The real Dilophosaurus was actually quite a bit bigger than the movie version, but there is no evidence that it could spit venom and none that it had the frill. These things are certainly possible with dinosaurs, but in this case, it was just an artistic choice. I really need to get a life.

It was on a tree branch absolutely still for minutes but once one of us moved it dove into the creek and zigzagged across the surface and disappeared in the tree roots of the opposite bank. It all happened in one second or two - about a 50' crossing!
