This is a cover version of "Another Day of Sun", the opening song from the hit movie "La La Land". Directed by Rio Jiang (Columbia College Chicago 2016 freshman) and Yeefye Teng (Beijing Film Academy 2016 freshman).
This 8-minute short cover of LA LA LAND, includes a 4-minute ONE TAKE sequence, the same as the opening scene in LA LA LAND. All artistic structures are kept, but the very specific contents are changed--to better fit the theme of a Chinese senior high school. (Xiamen Foreign Language School)
This production took an entire month to make. All the rehearsals, set decorations and artistic designs are accomplished by a group of high school graduates from XMFLS.

Hi there, for anyone who is interested in the behind the scene video of this production, we do have them. It was released at the same time back in 2017 a month after the production went viral on Sina Weibo. But we did not have them English subtitled (if that is a word), I will share a link here on Bilibili (you can understand it as Chinese UA-cam...) It was a two parts documentary about the entire one-month production! I did not upload them on UA-cam because it was filmed and edited by someone else. Let me know if I should make a English Subtitled version of it and upload it to UA-cam!

This is amazing!! This showcases a load of talented and dedicated students. This video makes me happy in a way I can barely describe. The colors are soft, yet bright. The amount of work put into this is enormous. I will forever and always appreciate things like this, which seem so little, but do so much.

I have been going through all of these remakes of the song and each one is so heartwarming and touching. Seeing teenagers all dance and smile and seem so carefree is really refreshing.

Woah this was great, that’s some amazing camera quality, the choreography was wonderful, and the singing was great, I had to listen closely to tell the difference between the singing from the students and the film, truly a bang up job!
I think the problem with this video is the credit took too much time. Not that many people are gonna keep watching through the credits, including me too. So, I guess people only watch like 60-70% of this masterpiece on average. That makes UA-cam algorithms think that this video is not worth to be in the recommended feed. (which they are extremely wrong ;-;)
Ps. After having known this video for like 3 years, I just realized there's post-credit scene! It's so great UWU

I was a college student when La La Land was released and remembered how much I loved this song number! What an awesome one take cover you guys made your own!
This particular opening song number struck a chord with me back then as much as its cool choreography, relatable lyrics and fun cinematography did too. I hope you guys can look back on this wonderful project you students worked hard to put together back then with warm feelings with those memories. Here's hoping that you and your classmates have gone off to fulfill their dreams too; with love from a random viewer from across the sea!
this was amazzing and beyond beyond above and beyond expectations. I was surprised to see that the lyrics were rewritten and so naturally. from the singing and instruments, dancing, acting, camerawork and background designs everything was so amazing it was like a really high quality musical. I hope you keep doing things like this :))

Staging is so creative. The logic of travels among the open and teaching spaces was frankly thrilling. I didn't know what was coming next. Their costuming also surprised and excited my mind. And above all, the actors were confident as selves and confident as actors; so I didn't hold my breath, expecting a failure that would have interrupted the flow. I'm very glad to have encountered this video. I've seen many, and this is the best so far. Thanks to those who created this. I'll watch it again, now.

Like most of the other commenters appearing here, I do not understand how -- or why -- this could possibly have generated only thirty-five thousand views in 23 months: it should be deep in the billions by now (world population notwithstanding). This is the funniest and sweetest and most artful thing I've seen, and it's all done by teenagers. Where are the adults? Who cares. These kids understand the power of dreams.
