They are just SO COOL!!! I want one! Not that expensive either - comparable to the Honda Forza 125 for example. However, it's utterly impractical (no storage or screen), and it's life expectancy before being nicked if parked on a City Street would be measured in minutes rather than hours....
The Early two-Strokes were a totally different ball game and were properly & excitingly fast. The Formula was a twin cylinder 125 that had torque as well as a manic top speed so relatively modest capacity returned thrilling Performance!! Sadly the Fun Police soon threw a spanner in and motorcycling has never been the same. 90mph 180cc 2 stroke Scooters are Shed & Buried and thats a real shame!!
Having recently bought a bmw c400gt, which I love,it is 215kg, the italjet nearly half that weight! Incredible piece of design, bordering on art for no money. Wish they would do a 350/400 version.
I picked up my 125 in black/grey/red on Friday and wow what a machine I had people asking me about it at the traffic lights! And it’s fast! I’m waiting for it’s first service to fit the full malossi variator/clutch kit and inbox air filter! I love it! And so does everyone else who sees it!
Hi Mark, my wife and I have just purchased 2 of these and we live on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, Australia. We love them and perfect for running around here and so much fun, every time we stop at a cafe or petrol station someone comes up and starts asking questions. Ripper scooter and your review is spot on 🇦🇺🛵👍
I own a bm xr and honestly I miss my gilera runner 125, today it's pretty much just as fast a to b and great fun to ride, I can see these making a come back, great video as always 👍
That looks like it should be in an art museum, it looks great. I do appreciate a decent scooter, anything on 2 wheels with an engine is good for me, electric or not, we have to move with the times I guess. Nice review Mark, they always are 🤙👍
Great review Mark it’s good to see scooters getting positive reviews. This Italjet is a funky looking scooter which if I could afford it for a play thing I would certainly consider it. The strange thing is that in the last couple of days my son has just purchased the 1990s original and is having a real hoot riding it. Looking forward to more scooter reviews from you.
Saw one at the bike show in Birmingham. What a stunner. It was getting plenty of attention. A work of art. No wind protection though so it must get breezy.
There is no point having a 200cc in the UK, they would have been better of putting a 250 or 300 in. The original 180 2 stroke was unbelievable, great looking and quick. I owned a couple.
Great piece of two wheeled you British You tube journalism-as always,Mark. If only it were 2stroke! Pleased with the Italian tri colour detailing and off this planet styling. Styled as eye catching as Ducati's super Moto Graffiti bike Ital jet Dragstar 200-far more appealing than what Vespa offer in there range although Vespas 300 engine would be interesting though expect some tuning would see some usable, reliable improvements outside of warranty. Cheers Mark.
Ive also seen a 500cc concept of this bike on UA-cam. Looks amazing Such a shame aprilia never done another big scooter after there aprilia srv 850. Honda being the biggest at the moment with there xadv and forza 750. But we want the style Tmax!! Keeping as a scooter style.
Wow, that looks great. As a previous owner of a Gilera Runner 180SP I can vouch for how fun these scooters are and by just teenagers hacks for riding to college. I hope these sell really well. Thanks Mark.
I used to be the sales rep for italjet in the late nineties early noughties. The New version looks a lot nicer, especially at the front end. However the 200 four stroke is no match for the older 180cc Two stroke version which was infinetly quicker on acceleration They should have made it 300cc (25 HP) 4 stroke to compensate. Norman
Great review again Mark.. 3 things came to mind. Firstly brilliant styling again from the Italians, they always get it right.. it's a work of art. Second... I nearly fell through the floor when you mentioned the price, that is a lot of dough. Considering what you can get for that money. Thirdly.. I thought that's gunna be a bugger to clean.. Having said all that I'm sure they'll be a market for it.. but I'm afraid it isn't something I would buy. Each to their own eh!?. Thanks again Mark 😊
Hi Mark Great review as usual, A very interesting concept scooter - I can see this being very popular in cities - Rome, London etc with the youngsters. Italian design at its best
I thought it was a Ducati at first glance, its beautiful. In the future Mark a night ride or at the very least remark on how the headlights fair in the dark. Love your work!
Very nice. Certainly lovely to look at. I'd be concerned about kicking that front shock to death getting on and off and/or people fiddling with the damping while it's parked.
Love it, what a bundle of fun on 2 wheels, with the price of fuel I'm thinking the lower ccs will rocket in sales, it doesn't have to be 1000cc to make you grin.... Great review Mark 👌
I set up the original Italjet scooter dealer network in the late nineties early noughties. This new model certainly looks nicer, especially around the front end. Sadly , due to the demise of the 2 stroke engine the performance of this 200 cc 4 stroke engine is not a patch on the older 180cc 2 stroke They should have made it 300cc 4 stroke to compensate
Italjet. There's a name I've not heard in a good while. Really nice looking contraption. Some effort went into the design. Definitely going to turn heads. Love the indicator stalk thingamajigs. Even sounds quite good.
Looks ace. Although the seat looks very close to the front end for me, being tall. Be good to be able to slide back slightly but the design of the seat stops you doing that. Cool machine though.
It's beautiful...I love it .....rear end suspension looks like a Dr John moto Guzzi ...which is good whole concept so well done Italian flair at its best ...and its affordable...I would like one just to sit and look at ! ....great review thank you
Hi Gary no I haven't tried the aprilia it looks a good bike I would say the performance is similar they both have around 17 to 20 horsepower the aprilia is about a thousand pounds cheaper and looks like it might be the more practical option however the Italjet looks absolutely stunning so if you're looking for a masterpiece of a scooter I would go for the Italian jet if you're looking for something a little bit more practical probably go for the aprilia but I think my choice for a practical scooter would be the Forza 350 best regards Mark
I would consider an ATV which you do not do reviews on, but I HAD A two wheel scooter a few years back, some boys try steal it but had a back wheel lock on it, so they just topped it over. they cannot do that with an ATV. and its hard to get an MOT outside London on 3 and 4 wheeled machines. It all traditional 2 wheeled motorcycles.
Thanks for onother great review. How is the passenger seat? Is it possible to go two up? I know it is not made for touring but would it be possible attach some soft luhuage to it?
Hi the seat is tiny so I wouldn't recommend it for any more than half an hour for a passenger...you could fit a small tail pack I'm sure Best wishes mark
Stunning scooter. What a pity it has a 12'' front wheel. 14'' would have been better at both ends. Even better, 15''. Small underseat storage but that isn't what this is about, and at least there's some. No side stand? I like the handlebars. I thought the key looked like a hook to hang shopping on. A 300cc version with a rear rack strong enough to take a 26-litre topcase and running on 15'' wheels and I'd probably want one for when I'm in Europe. Very good review, Mark.
