  • Watch our Introduction video on the book of Jonah, which outlines the book's main theme and how it is fulfilled in Jesus.
The book of Jonah is not about a fish but God’s scandalous mercy. In it God’s prophet, Jonah, believes it would be wrong of God to give mercy to a guilty and ruthless people. But through a fish, a plant, and ultimately Jesus, we learn that the only hope for all people is in God’s offensive and scandalous mercy to the undeserving.

Great video! Now it totally makes sense that verse in the New Testament where the Pharisees ask Jesus to show them a sign and he says that the only sign they will see is the sign of Jonah. Now I get it! Thank you!

Agree, I love good visuals and that people try to explain. I wish they would quote a couple of scriptures with it.. but
I also think it's about doing what you know God wants you to do no matter what. It goes on to say that the crew asked Jonah about HIS God and why wasn't he helping him, and Jonah told them.. They fought about taking him there or not and didn't..
And so on, but they sould have done what God said no matter what. Do not be afraid is in the Bible over 300 times.

You said Jonah would rather die, than see evil people repent, but Jesus would rather die, to see those same kind of people forgiven 🤯 great point!

And this is exactly why many will not enter the kingdom of heaven. You have to forgive your enemies and always pray for them as JESUS CHRIST said. I understand that it can be hard to wish the best for people who have wronged you or done unforgivable deeds BUT JESUS DIED FOR THEM ALL. If they repent and confess with their hearts, mind and soul they have now become the members of light.
God bless you all. Love is the key! Every time you forgive someone and pray for them you develop LOVE and that’s the way of GOD. I pray for my enemies to the point where I cry. How can I not?! The people who wronged me most was people who were closest to me. It was my family and my friends and boyfriend. It was hell and they sinned against the Holy Spirit in me. They killed my soul. I was dead. Confused and couldn’t connect with God because they had me scared of even living. That’s what violence and narcissistic people does to you. PTSD I have from that. What I wanted to say is that people will be worse than horrible!!! Like PIGS without souls and hearts, without the Holy Spirit. Exactly like Jesus says the last days will be like. BUT WE HAVE TO FORGIVE AND WISH THEM TO LOVE GOD AND KNOW GOD. I promise you forgiveness sets you free! It’s like Gods love can finally flow and you can enter the kingdom of heaven.
THEREFORE PRAY FOR YOUR ENEMIES ALWAYS AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER! 🕊☝️👑❤️‍🔥❤️

I don’t think I’d say “Jesus died so evil could live.” I’d say He died so evil could be defeated and the world would know His redemption.
