- Lovesexy Tour Aftershow
Historic recording is from an after show at "Paard Van Troje Club" in The Hague, Netherlands, 18/08/1988. Only 300 people were present.
Just My Imagination/The Temptations, written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong
Prince could take any instrument and destroy it, blindfolded. I know. I've witness this. 14 years as a film director for him. Personal friend and colleague and stand-in for Purple Rain and Graffiti Bridge. I MISS him soo much.
, Peace and thank you.
pr epstein I've never seen him play any instrument outside of drums/percussion, guitar, bass & keyboards. When & where have you seen him play any other instruments? People say that so much. I love Prince & have followed his whole career. He doesn't play all the instruments people say or he wouldn't hire people like Eric Leeds to play horns on record. You know good & well that if Prince could play all these other instruments so well he would've done it live. Never ever seen it anywhere.
I envy you.
Biggest Loss for Mankind 💜💜💜😢😢😢🙌🙌🙌
You were so blessed to be a part of his life. God blessed people with gifts and music was his... he left a legacy that will live on. This is one of my favorite performances of his. When he passed three years ago I listened to this non-stop and cried. Time does heal...
I've heard others say it u were there so pay no mind 2 the guy's comment. Sonny T said he's seen him play the Saxophone I've heard he's taken instruments from people and played it handed it back and said this is how I want it 2 sound. He was Smith from the Matrix where he could copy himself on stage u have 2 have a band. Owen Husney also said this his first manager watched him play everything hitting stop and start on the tape I'll believe them.
And yet when they talk about the "Great guitar players" Prince hardly gets a look in........Prince was the Greatest guitar player ever!!
I challenge anyone to say hes not the greatest musical superstar ever. Prince 🎸 had no equal.
the greatest guitar solo ever
I never heard this until today. I feel like Prince gave me a gift, and he never knew or met me. This is crazy.
Prince, Eddie Van Halen, Hendrix....whatever order you choose of these legends cannot be wrong..
And SRV and Peter Greene and Carlos Santana too
O(+->

@@echo4418 Respect for sure

I feel so blessed in my life to have seen Prince perform live. Sadly it was only just once, but I am soooo thankful I saw him at all.
He played in Glasgow (Scotland) on his Diamonds and Pearls tour and it was a life changing experience lol.
I also got to touch the foot of SRV’s statue on the banks of The Colorado River in Austin Texas. That was candy for the soul being able to acknowledge his love and his passion for his craft and his audiences too.
Rest in Power

I could listen to this on eternal repeat. 💜

For me - Top 5 in my favorite Prince solos. Heard this for the first time in 1992. Pure raw emotion. Jaw dropping shock; chills to this day. One of his greatest guitar solos that most people have no idea exists.
What are the other 4?
@@Raao1 would like to know too
I got this one Creep at Coachella and Shhh Live in Paris
And The Ride Live at the Aladin
Prince took one of the Greatest R&B love jams and made it his own, I can never hear this song again without that guitar solo at the end. This version kills the original in every way. And the Original is a Perfect song.
U r god damn right! I agree!
Same with me. I think of him!
Please play this at my funeral. I will put in my will.
Even in death I'm still in love with this man and his music. wow such talent, there will never be another like my beloved Prince, I love you and miss you.
Prince was the greatest pop genius to come out of America.
And Miles Davis
@@Cormac-jd2kx Miles was even on a higher plane but Prince as a modern composer is unmatched.
@@KRAZEEIZATIONmy bad…you said POP ok yeah I agree.
Miles wasn’t pop.
I agree
The fact this was an AFTERSHOW performance too is too ridiculous
Possibly the greatest live performance ever
agreed , its a crime against humanity for there not to be film footage of him doing this
Only Prince could play guitar like this
So true. No one else could do this - ever. This is on another level
Well, it's not so hard, with all this reverb.... If you remove all effects, you will be surprised how simple it is
@@gijsschubert7901 it's not about the technicality. There's a certain feeling here that is just.. unreal. I have listened to tons and tons of music, and there isn' t a whole lot that's truly "transcendental". That word gets thrown around a lot but jesus christ does this make you feel something deep in your body and soul
Greatest guitar solo ever starts at 2:30 .
No one could do it better
He made this song even more beautiful. And the guitar solo......🎸
This is just devastatingly beautiful.
When he died, I couldn't cry.
About 2 weeks later I had driven somewhere. When I arrived to my destination it was pouring rain outside.
I opted to wait it out in the car and found this recording. I cried like a baby and just kept chanting, "Prince Prince Prince....."
It was this solo over the drums beating like a heart and the solo was just like all the emotions I was feeling.
Devastatingly heartbreaking and Beautiful.
RIP our Beloved Prince...Master.
This is one of those wish I was there kind of performances.
😢 I miss him
😢 miss him too 💜
since his passing, this is the first prince song i've played. i didn't read any reports, any news, i just carried the pain in my heart. my one dream that i never fulfilled was to see him live. i once wrote a letter to his website, i really hope that he saw it. all i wanted to do was to thank him for bringing so much joy to my life, for so long. i've been listening to prince since the 80s, but he never came to africa, so i never saw him live. there will never be another talent like this in my life time - his music transcended time, his skill on that guitar was so good that he could cure manic depression. wherever you are my friend, i only wish you the same joy, bliss and delight that has been a part of my life for so long through this exquisite music.
unto the end of time....
boodah1234 very true he's music was spiritual in a way I've been in his music since I was 3 yrs old and now I'm 37 of age I play guitar and love real music because of this God created person prince and it's sad that today yes today's music is Dead and that why some people are dead in the sound of the music but not us r.i.p.s prince and to u whom wrote this quote on prince music be blessed and my u see the Dawn also u can check out my UA-cam page ... Terrell Howard Ryde I have to pages
Sad the three greatest guitars are now gone prince Jimmy Hen,and Stevie rayvaugh.
That was really nice of you!
This is a cover, original by the temptations
💜💜💜💜💜💜
Guitar is on fire!
It blows my mind that this and other just my imagination prince videos on UA-cam have so few views, it's by far one of the best performances ever.
That guitar solo is epic.
We have to share to reach new listeners. Most of the fans have all of this stuff in our libraries so we don’t have to come to UA-cam to hear it and the general public or casual fan doesn’t know it exists so they can’t search for it or get it from the official YT channel.
BECAUSE PEOPLE THINK IT IS A LEGEND AND REALLY DONT BELIEVE PRINCE RENDITIONS OF SONGS EXIST!!!!
Lord have mercy! He definitely had lift off. 🚀 He left the stratosphere on that guitar part. Brilliant! ⚜️🌹🥇🌹⚜️
🌟🎸🌟🙌🏼
He when’s to another world for sure.
Still the most incredible piece of music I have ever heard....raw emotion....thank you Prince...love you.
This gives me chills every time I hear it, as well as when he does Motherless Child. He makes his guitar sing and weep right along with the emotion's in his voice. To do Just My Imagination better than the original artist is just amazing! But we who are "Prince Friend's" already knew this didn't we. Prince I don't think you would truly know while here on earth just how much people around the World truly LOVED YOU! And I don't think the WORLD truly realized it till you were gone. It has been over 3 years & it is still painful, but I thank you for all you did for music, entertainment ( no other put on a live show either it be a small venue, or filled huge concert halls)your poems and your generous charitable that went unnoticed. But most of all a beautiful human who for almost 40 years gave it your all, encouraged new artist's and for that I say THANK YOU. You proved to the World yes you can be cool & LOVE GOD!
I miss My guy 🙌😔💜
John Moore same
After 6 years it still hurts like hell 😢💔
This song is still traveling through the universe (and keeps traveling and traveling)
Prince = Music. Music = Prince. Period.
Why did I cry during this entire solo?
This was recorded at 330am....no cameras...just a mess about.
I was there..
Stephen Thompson - tell us more
I can't stop playing it. His music brings me out of a state that isn't always good. His art expression soothes me. The rendition of this song lifts me in ways I cannot describe. Thank you Prince!!!
@aaron morrison don't sweat it, I'm crying too
I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS FOR ALMOST 30 YEARS! Thank you so so much for posting. That guitar solo...I have never before or since heard an artist so deftly express their emotion/sentiment via an instrument. It's absolutely heartbreaking.
to take a song like this and truly make it his own.... pure genius .miss him forever.
I have turned on so many of my friends on this~! My face changes every time that guitar screeems~!
The kid from Minneapolis!!! The best to do it live! No one can dispute the facts!
Prince had no equal in live performances
Very smooth, funky, & elegant...
Genius - The Greatest - 4ever & ever
I spoke some people about this concert, years ago.
One stayed that night at a friends house, located in a side street to the road where Paard van Troje is located.
His friends house was at the other side of the street,in front of the load in/out entry of Paard van Troje and because it was a very hot night, they were at the balcony outside drinking cold white wine.Because of the high temperaturs, the load indoors were open,so when Prince started the concert, the enjoyed the music there, without knowing,Prince was playing.
The other man,who told me about this night, was Felix,a stagehand for Hartman(a workforce company).
He had to move backline from the Rotterdam stadium "de Kuip",where Prince did 3 shows,to Paard van Troje and saw the whole show side-stage.
He is and was a heavenly lucky bastard to be there.
mooi man
music in human form !
My favorite guitar solo.

I can't express my feelings during listening of this piece of perfection...it was 1988...this legend was not one step in front of others he was on another planet with alien technology of greatnes in his mind. Perfection.

Yup. 💜
I took a week off work to morne his death.. I grew up listening to his music.. there were many musical talents out there but this name in my view the greatest of all time.. R.I.P master..😭😭😭😭

A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.!!! Beyond this world! ♥
How can anyone put a dislike on this??????? It is out of this world kinda of good.
The shivering of the Soul.....Eternal PRINCE....
Just WoW! Mind Blown!! Ridiculous ! P shredded that Guitar!!
The man that Eric Clapton called the greatest ever: Prince
he was right!!
Clapton didn’t say that. He admired Prince but never said that.
@@javiceres it's a myth. He never said it
When he was supposedly asked, "What's it like to be the best guitarist in the world " he's supposed to have said " I don't know ask Prince". Not sure if this happened mind.
@@matthewmartin5610 He didn’t. There are many versions of the story; the most famous may be Hendrix being asked and answered the same line but naming BB King instead IIRC
The more he plays the guitar solo, the closer he achieves a synchronicity with God that the rest of us will never get within a fraction of reaching.
When they talk about the best guitarists, Prince is very rarely mentioned . Truly Underestimated. He was an absolute Musical Genius, there will never be anyone like him again, Ever! Rest in Paradise forever. Prince was Truly the G O A T ....Greatest of All Time !!! 💜💜💜💜✨️✨️
Sublime ... this should be released on a future live album just to show the world how AHHH MAZING a Guitar God the man is ....
this is what i play to shut people up when who's the greatest guitarist ever comes up
With out a doubt, greatest Guitarist of all time! Come on I was blessed to see a Concert in Atlanta
right on... me too, in '87~! Crazy Concert
An extraordinary moment in time
When friends would ask me if he really knew how to play guitar I would send em this cover..... And in the text I simply put "Your welcome"
it always blows my mind when in the year 2021 i still find people who say oh didnt know he played geetar

SUCH A GOOD RENDERING OF THIS ICONIC SONG, BY A VERY UNDERRATED MUSICIAN
Musical expression of the soul !! The largest !!!
"Just My Imagination" from 1988. It is divine piece and what a joy to listen over and over again.
America is late discovering Prince. 1999 the music industry said hmmm I think he's talented. Controversy, for You album, I want to be your lover album, Dirty mind got overlooked. My God we were so lucky to have him as long as we did 🤴#RIPTHEGREATEST
The guitar solo is just nasty. He made this song his own...
I heard his version of Jungle love on here ... Was incredible
The Drums during the solo.
Like a heartbeat.
Sheila E?
This is just so incredibly beautiful. What a genius to turn an already amazing song on its head ,and make it almost unworldly .💜
Prince is the Greatest Star of all !

Could sleep blissfully to this. Thank you God for creating Prince and for gifting him so greatly. #You are alive in our hearts# RIP in Heaven DearPurpleOne.
First time hearing this! OMG! It brought me to tears. no more good music like this ever to be heard again!
I own a CD of that concert and I rember sneaking through a record store and there was a song playing but I did not really care. But when the guitar solo started, I was electified and went straight to one of the employees behind the counter, grab a CD went home and ever since that day this one of my favorite recordings of Prince. Fantastic version of the song and the solo is so powerful so full of emotions, it always gives me goosbumps. I rember driving 3 hours on reapeat of just that song. Could hear it forever. R.I.P. Miss you and your music
This is just sheer perfection.. funky, soulful and cascades sensuously along your auditory senses.. truly otherworldly...
Thank you dear Prince, for showing us how to be Divine in Human form
💜💜💜💜💜
This is so beautiful...😔💜💜💜
OMG!!!! Listening to this just completely cleared my head!!!
When I need to feel free...I go back to this often.. I think this solo of his should have a place of its own somewhere in music history..(and he has many of those)
Eyes closed is the best way to follow this guitar... it is absolutely beyond just music to me..
Every time I hear it..I think, wow, Prince had a way to travel to the stars if he wanted to, he had enough energy, skill and feeling to do that somehow. If anything has enough force to defy gravity, to shoot out into space, like a fire comet blazing out leaving the atmosphere, still with an unbearable ability to feel each emotion shedding away, until igniting fire on the way, with clarity and matching power, full speed ahead,..until something rips open and for just a moment one can see a new luminous horizon...that is the vision I hear he had that night..well, it is just my imagination ;)Genius that got high on music...and instilled it with such power and articulation that for those of us who dig... we feel truly grateful for all the deep inspiring journeys.
You described him perfectly. Drop the mic 🎤
the true Master.... really
Simply beautiful 💜
Prince always seemed to "touch" me. Loved his music and his musical knowledge/appreciation of the GIANTS that came before him. RIP....
He is playing this in the ethereal realm, a true master.
Greatest version of this song ever done. Prince laid it down! Still missing his incredible talent. Rest In Purple Peace
I felt I knew him , when he first came out on an old TV show I just knew he was here to stay, thank you UA-cam for this musical stage, Prince I'll always love YOU
I can admit, that to most people, this is a "smashing cover" of a Temptations hit/song,but the next song he performed in this concert, is to me,much more impressive. You here him announcing "the next one,we do in the dark",I think the song is called "People without",and this song performance is so interesting,to quite different reasons.
The crowd/audience was jet-set dominated, with powdered noses,so coke sniffing people,a thing,Prince totally disliked. In this song ,he sings:"People without,do cocaïne......
People without love",so it expressed a kind of anti-audience sarcasme.
But more significant is the musicly role,he gave Dr.Fink in this song,it's outstanding what Dr.Fink plays on keyboards/synthesizers and that Prince gave him this space.
So listen to this song,it's one of a kind.
“People without fuck without being in love “
All this amazing Prince music discovering here on UA-cam is just priceless. A wonderful version of song played by the master of music himself, completely mind blowing. love you Prince always, rip
Chills every time. Yes Ser! Love it
Stunning, Amazing, Speachless. What a loss, what a loss.

Best Guitar solo I ever heard!
C’est magnifique 🤩
Prince is the best guitarist of all time; with Hendrix a close second. So many guitarists can be copied note for note, but not this guy. No one can touch this man.
Halle Berry on Twitter asked for everyone's favorite Prince song, and I couldn't do it - it's too tough a question! But this is hands-down the single greatest guitar solo I've ever heard. Sorry but not even the mighty Led Zeppelin & Jimmy Page can equal this. Prince = GOAT. RIP.
@@danmohr2005 How many instruments does Sir. Jimmy Page play? Prince played between 20-30 instruments Prince was a modern day Mozarts thats why he was the greatest guitarist!!
@@willisjr12169 Great observations! Also, just try to fathom that this recording was at an AFTERSHOW. Prince had already played an entire 2.5 hour concert in front of a massive crowd. And he went to a tiny club afterwards, and this is what poured out of him. Un-effing-believable. He was truly an Olympian Gold Medalist of music!
Damn he's such a bad ass & knows it
