Chris Stuckmann hello Chris, I am not sure if you're reading this, this is an old video I know. I do hope that you get to read this. I am a huge fan of your work and I try to write some reviews on my own, I absolutely love movies. I recently watched the Dollars Trilogy by Sergio Leone. I loved all of them. Can you please review them, especially The Good The Bad And The Ugly, its one of my favorite movies. I would love to hear your opinion on it.
isaac land Or Tolkien had a time travel machine and stole the ideas of Harry Potter. That's pretty much what all Harry Potter-fans think, so you can't convince me.
Seriously, I felt like all 3 movies should have won everything they were nominated for. But the fact that Return of the King practically swept the Oscars was so epic. I mean, not one fantasy movie has ever won an award, or at least, not the Best Picture award. And Return of the King won like 25 awards in one night. The movie was so masterfully done, that not even the dumb, old men of the board on the Oscars could deny it. They should have just given up and handed Viggo Mortensen and Elijah Wood the Best Actor award (and yes, I'm saying they should've made two trophies just for them). But really, every single actor in this trilogy deserved an award. I can't put into words how EPIC and amazing this movie and the whole trilogy are. Whatever I say would be an injustice.
I’m currently watching the series again with a friend who hasn’t seen them yet. The movies are as good today as when i saw them in theaters. We’ve just The Return of the King left and I can’t wait to watch it. My favorite of the trilogy as well!
@@Itchy__ , right. For some reason Two Towers and Return of the King came to Netflix for me a few days ago but not Fellowship. And I didnt to watch the trilogy for the first time in the wrong order so I just my sister borrow one one her boyfriends DVDs of it and saw it.

Same. I haven't seen Citizen Kane yet (apparently the greatest movie ever(?)), so I have to check it out, but so far, this movie pretty much makes it look like it's The Godfather. Don't get me wrong I saw the first movie and loved it, but even that seems to be a second place compared to Citizen Kane, so that's the only way I could make that analogy. That kind of sucks.
Return of the King is my favourite of the trilogy too. For me, my ranking goes like this: 1. The Return of the King: 10/10 2. The Fellowship of the Ring: 10/10 3. The Two Towers: 10/10 The Lord of the Rings trilogy is my favourite film trilogy and it's in my top 5 favourite films of all time!
Do you consider all 3 as 1 favorite movie? Or is it 3 of them and two other movies? Also ROTK is my favorite film of all time and LOTR is my favorite trilogy
Peter Jackson was super impressed with the contribution of Andy Serkis over the first two movies, so the opening scene of Return of the King was added at the last minute as a little reward/thankyou/recognition for Serkis to have a proper scene where he isn't just mo-capped CGI Gollum.
Tried to recreate the same background. Changed the lighting set up though, now I have equal light on both sides of my face, and I also added a Looper poster and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo also.

No words can describe how good this film is!, not only my favorite part of the trilogy, but my favorite film of all time! From the opening shot of Smeagol/Gollum fixing the worm into his fishing hook to the end credits with beautiful drawings of all major characters and events in LOTR, I was totally blown away! I could watch ROTK a 100 times and still get emotional and enjoy it like the first time!
Is it just me or is there something disjointed about how Aragorn looks during the seven transition from his necklace being broken to him on horseback leading Gondo's army? It strikes me that his hair and beard look longer, even though no real time should have passed in between.
"I can't carry the ring mr Frodo, but I can carry you!" That is totally my favorite line in the whole trilogy!! THE WHOLE TRILOGY!! I cry every. Single. Time.

Denethor isn't a king, he's a steward. Though he is not really corrupt, he is losing his mind. While the movie show's him in a more negative light, his character in the book was a strong and noble man, however after the many years of war against Sauron and his growing power, Denethor slowly started to sink into despair, the death of his son Boromir only made matters worse, and by the time Sauron's forces descended upon the White City, Denethor completely gave up all hope and sank into madness.
Denethor had a Palantir through which Sauron showed him the vast armies about to be cast against Minas Tirith and he felt doomed, not just in life but in history.
I think all of the extended versions are major improvements on their theatrical counterparts. My favourite is "Two Towers" ... the extended version is like binge watching Game of Thrones.
Does everyone just ignore the scene where Sam says to Frodo, "I can't carry the ring, Mr Frodo, but I can carry you!" OMG!! I have goosebumps right now!! That is one of the few scenes in a movie where I have to fight tears back SO HARD!!
I remember going to see this on opening night, having spent the last few weeks sleeping on a couch recovering from a really bad car accident. Nothing and nobody would've stopped me from this film. I cried at the ending song, and then found out that I could barely get out of my seat. Legs, no workee! Hip, really pissed at me for sitting upright for that long. Set my recovery back about a week. You know what, I'd do it again with a BIG SMILE! Awesome film!
I always thought that all three movies deserved the best picture Oscar, but no way was the academy going to give the same person best director three years in a row, so they figure give jackson best director for rotk to cover all three movies.
The Fellowshipship of the Rings was the begining, when we start to discover the middle earth and has a more "adventure" taste. The Two Towers was a darker movie where we could saw all the character development and the anticipation to the first epic war. The Return of the King was perfect in the sense that we all feel "this is it", the last stand. Overall a truly EPIC trilogy which set unrealistic stander for future movies. there will bever be somthing as good as this...
I love all of your reviews, Chris, but I have to be a geekzilla and point out that Saruman's army was whiped out at the battle of Helm's Deep, so the armies at the Pelanor Fields/Mina's Tirith were Sauron's. I know their names sound similar, you probably meant "Sauran". And this was like 3 years ago, so who cares...
+Tim Walden He also said Eowyn fell in love with Boromir in the Return of the King, when he meant Faramir. We are clearly LOTR geeks who have all read the books 5x, The Silmarillion, and Unfinished Tales. Oh, and The Hobbit.
Great Review Chris! - Totally forgot how funny Gimli scene was in the mountain ... trying to blow away the ghosts. Thought it was great comedic moment.
When she says "courage Merry, courage for our friends ", I bawled like a baby😥 I have watched the movie more than 20 times now, but it still gets me everytime 😫
@@Nataton-cg8zo Rotten tomatoes? They gave black panther 97? Since the I have lost all my trust in rotten tomatoes. And empire strikes back isnt even close to any of Lotr movies.
I just got done watching the extended editions back to back to back for the first time. This is by far the best one of the three, each time I watch these movies, I can't help but appreciate how beautiful these movies are. Tears of joy every time.
There is a moment in this film when Aragorn actually fights Sauron with his sword. This was originally intended to be the big ending. However, Peter Jackson felt this strayed too far from the books and took away from Frodo and Sam, so scenes from that swordfight remain but the VFX people put a big troll over the top of Sauron.
Hands down best movie known to man. Such a beautiful masterpiece and also a great tear jerker (especially in the last quarter) Thank you Peter Jackson and the outstanding cast. Thank you so much(:
did eneybody notice in the return of the king, the structure of the battle....lets see.... *the bad guys attack with catapults, the good guys attack with catapults back. *the bad guys attack with nazgool dragens, the army of rohan comes from behind. *the bad guys bring giant elephents, we bring a ghost army. you see how the good guys and the bad guys Eeven there power, and every time its a bigger power.
Thats kinda how battles tend to play out in real life too. Commiting the entirety of your war machine to one battle without knowing what your enemies might counter with rarely tends to end with good results.

Saw ROTK...hmm...8 or 9 times in the theater, including opening night. I was in grad school...took my final (rushed through it actually), handed it in, and sped over to the theater to catch the 9 PM viewing, and was thoroughly touched and blown away. Passed my class, btw :)
Bang on Chris! The best ever review I have seen of Return of the King... Just perfect... infact, when you were referring to those adrenaline rushing scenes, I was getting all pumped up by just remembering those scenes.. The Return of the King is my most favourite film of all time till date.
In my family, LOTR is such a special movie, that we actually only watch it once a year!! And I drool for it just as much as everyone did back in 2003!!
The extended edition made the movie even better. It even added continuity to the film at one point. If you recall in the theatrical release, I don’t know if you caught it or not, but when Pippen ran to Gandalf to tell him Faramir was going to be burned alive, Gandalf has his staff. But by the time the movie gets back to that whole situation and Gandalf is bursting into the Pyre chamber telling Denathor “stay this madness”, Gandalf suddenly... doesn’t have his staff????!!!!! He instead takes a spear from a guard. The extended edition has a good (and epic) explanation for why Gandalf didn’t have his staff, and without the extended edition, that would have been a movie mistake. The scene was even for shadowed earlier in the film.
At my local theatre they played all of the extended additions on the big screen saturday. It lasted from 12 in the afternoon till 12 at night and it was EPIC!!! I never got to see them on the big screen until now and it was awesome!
And Pippin did volunteer as a servant but not to a corrupt king, but to the steward of Gondor (Boromir and Faramir's father played by John Noble). Aragorn/Stryder is the true king since he came from the a royal bloodline (which he didn't initially want to claim and became a ranger) whereas the steward is not from a royal line, hence only a caretaker :) I'm nitpicking I know lol. But A+++ for the whole trilogy and your reviews Chris!
Sam is a really compassionate guy, he just hates Gollum cause he sees in him the future of his best friend and he can't bear it, witch makes Sam even cuter, if that's possible
The Fellowship of the Ring: A+ The Two Towers: A- The Return of the King: A+ An Unexpected Journey: B+ The Desolation of Smaug: B- The Battle of the Five Armies: A-
I remember when I was young and first saw LOTR:ROTK in IMAX with my dad and older sister. I was 7 or 8 but I fully remember the experience. I mean at that age sitting through an almost 3 hour movie and not wanting to take a potty break because you were so inthralled with the visuals and story can only be the work of a great master of cinema that can make old and young be enveloped in such a fantastical journey. Fantastic Reviews for a Fantastic Trilogy.
I just rewatched the trilogy on the cinema after 20 years and I was so emotional. I dont know how many times i’ve watched this movie, but there’s something special about going to the cinema and enjoying it there one more time. I absolutely love this movie! In my top 5!
I guess Return of the King is my least favorite of the Lord of the Rings movie, and I hate to say that because I love it. They're all incredible movies.
LOTR makes up all three of my three favorite movies. That being said, there was a lot of characters and plot details that the movies didn't do justice, such as Denethor not being as bad as he was portrayed, or how Merry and Eowyn were able to kill the Witch King. However, this is because they couldn't. If they had tried, the movies would be at least twice as long, so I don't count it as a downside.
Whenever I watch The Fellowship of the Ring, I absolutely HAVE to watch the rest of the trilogy. I just get so pumped at the end of the first one and they work as one grand story so well that I have to finish it.
Oh, the only thing that I noticed was different was that the Looper and Skyfall posters were added. Great review and really, The Lord of the Rings trilogy is the only trilogy where all three films are equally good! I can't wait to see it again before seeing The Hobbit! Also, once when you review The Hobbit, I wonder if you will compare it to Star Wars Episode 1 because it is a prequel after all.
A little secret about the film: There is a moment at the very end battle when Aragon fights a massive troll. Originally Aragorn was filmed fighting Sauron... but Jackson felt it took away from the hobbits story and strayed too far from the books, in post they added a troll over the top of Sauron so you cant see him
His reviews are point just adding wish now stepping back things weren't so hurried in a film made sense, also just want things to be given more introductions
In my opinion, Return of the King is so beautiful, epic, emotional. It's worthy for 11 oscar wons. The Visual effects, acting, direction, character development, Music all are fantastic. In the ending, my eyes were full with tears(hapiness) That time i feel like something very closer to me is going away from me. I love love love this movie & whole trilogy more than any movie. 😍😍😍😍😍 Finally i was so happy that i saw this beautiful fantasy epic movie.
I LOLed when you said, "I do not fear death!" You did it perfect! I know you did, because I've watched the movie about 100 times. I'm a LOTR geek too. It's hard for me to get my friends to watch, I think I'll show them your review. ;)
The Return of the King is the best film of the trilogy! I'm unimpressed about the lower rating on The Hobbit on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic, but I still want to see that movie. Great review, Chris!
Hey Chris! Great review, loved this film totally agree with you the whole film was pretty perfect. Is the Skyfall poster in your background new too or am I just crazy?
One of the best movies of all time. It is my personal favorite(and i mean the whole trilogy) and also Godfather 1 and 2, Dark knight trilogy and Goodfellas.
These movies are my childhood, and yes I tested up several times in this movie, and I know a lot of people didn’t like the new hobbit trilogy but it was absolutely amazing, and when I watched lord of the rings again last week for the first time in years bilbo made me tear up, bilbo was aboslutely amazing, and the dwarves were so captivating, and also SAM was always my favourite character of all time, single handedly saves all of middle earth
Loved this movie, it feels as if these are starting to be forgotten to a certain extent. I got to see these while in my mid 20s and they provided a lot of inspiration in a post 9/11 world.
"And Aragorn turns, says, I Do Not Fear Death!, turns and walks into the mountain, his cape blowing, It's Incredible! I love that scene!" Haha dork🤓 That scene was awesome though😎👍
My apologies for accidentally saying Saruman instead of Sauron.

And this was like 3 years ago, so who cares...
we care...we care
The cares! The cares!
He also called Karl Urban's character Theoden's son in The Two Towers review...but who's keeping track?
+Tim Walden He also said Eowyn fell in love with Boromir in the Return of the King, when he meant Faramir. We are clearly LOTR geeks who have all read the books 5x, The Silmarillion, and Unfinished Tales. Oh, and The Hobbit.

The only nerd and geek associated movie trilogy that can make full grown toughest men shed tears.
Best movies of all time. If you think differently then.... You're wrong
Dethklok2266 Empire Strikes Back and The Godfather are better you’re wrong actually check rotten tomatoes
Plebs
@@Nataton-cg8zo Rotten tomatoes? They gave black panther 97? Since the I have lost all my trust in rotten tomatoes. And empire strikes back isnt even close to any of Lotr movies.
@@Nataton-cg8zo Empire strikes back pales in front of the monolith that is the lord of the rings
Personally I don't rely on a website that gave Ghostbusters 2016 a higher rating than Forrest Gump!
In my opinion. LOTR trilogy is one of the few movies that is better than the book.
Ya
+Noah Hutchinson nice name dude
+Noah Redfern shut the fuck up
+Cran KaDub ???
but why?
I always drop some tears when i see the charge of the rohirim and frodo's departure.
This is my favorite movie.
Same here
The Lord of the rings are the best movies of all time
did eneybody notice in the return of the king, the structure of the battle....lets see....

When Aragorn says you bow to no one. Who cries like a baby?
When the beacons are light, who's jaw is on the floor?
This, Star Wars ep 3, Harry Potter movies, man this time in film history was so good
Saw ROTK...hmm...8 or 9 times in the theater, including opening night.
Your videos deserve way more views, one of the best movie reviewers that I know of
In my family, LOTR is such a special movie, that we actually only watch it once a year!! And I drool for it just as much as everyone did back in 2003!!
Thanks for not whining about the multiple endings, I hate hearing people do that.
The Lord of the Rings movies is the reason cinema exists.
The books are incredibly well written.
The Silmarillion is the definition of "Epic"!
I just finished the trilogy for the 1st time & Idk why it took me so long
These movies are life altering. Absolutely beautiful & inspiring.
Aragorn: "My friends, you bow to no one"... Everyone kneels to the hobbits, instant goosebumps
Here in 2023 still chris, i got you
This, Apocalypse Now, Godfather 1+2, some of the only films to really rise to the name of masterpiece. imo at least
The Fellowship of the Ring: A+

The Return of the King: A+

This is one movie series that seriously needs a remake.
GOTCHAS!!! (I could feel your keyboards about to overheat from the furious typing.)
They're all incredible, I like ROTK more than the other two, it's my favorite movie of all time. But if you prefer the first, that's fine :)
+KnifingGame Or the second, who knows
As Feud Nation said, it's quite something when your least favorite LOTR movie is still a 10/10
LOTR makes up all three of my three favorite movies.
Def. better lighting! Couldn't agree more on LoTR. It's surpassed Star Wars for me.
No movie has brought me closer to tears than ROTK
A little secret about the film: There is a moment at the very end battle when Aragon fights a massive troll. Originally Aragorn was filmed fighting Sauron... but Jackson felt it took away from the hobbits story and strayed too far from the books, in post they added a troll over the top of Sauron so you cant see him
His reviews are point just adding wish now stepping back things weren't so hurried in a film made sense, also just want things to be given more introductions
Am I the only one who cringed when he said Saruman's armies? I mean Saruman was defeated in The Two Towers.
Don't worry buddy, me too
Just the battle of pelennor fields deserves an oscar it always makes me emotional and gives me goosebumps
Finally i was so happy that i saw this beautiful fantasy epic movie.
I LOLed when you said, "I do not fear death!" You did it perfect! I know you did, because I've watched the movie about 100 times. I'm a LOTR geek too. It's hard for me to get my friends to watch, I think I'll show them your review. ;)
This has got to be the greatest film trilogy ever made
Great job on the background chris!!! I honestly couldnt tell the difference! oh and nice hair.
The Return of the King is the best film of the trilogy! I'm unimpressed about the lower rating on The Hobbit on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic, but I still want to see that movie. Great review, Chris!
Did you get better lighting for the new apartment? The quality is really good.
I really like your enthusiasm Chris!
I'd love to see your review of the Godfather trilogy :)
Hey Chris! Great review, loved this film totally agree with you the whole film was pretty perfect. Is the Skyfall poster in your background new too or am I just crazy?
Sorry Star Wars, The Lord of The Rings is the best trilogy in cinema!(But SW is the best franchise)
I agree, but you cannot deny how impactful the MCU has been
Hey Chris, remember when you did that long review of The Wicker Man? Can you please do another one? That was so entertaining and friggin hilarous.
These three films not only changed my life, but they showed me just how high the art of cinema can go. I consider it the crux of cinema history.
Will the Q+A be coming anytime soon?
You're hilarious! My husband and I are nerds in this sense and share your taste in movies and games.
These films are cinemas greatest accomplishment. Perfect themes of loyalty anf friendship. Where the smallest among us can make a difference.
Loved this movie, it feels as if these are starting to be forgotten to a certain extent. I got to see these while in my mid 20s and they provided a lot of inspiration in a post 9/11 world.
that's a fine job of recreating the location. it looks almost exactly the same sans the placement of a few posters
I really like your channel you're entertaining and you have interesting points
"And Aragorn turns, says, I Do Not Fear Death!, turns and walks into the mountain, his cape blowing, It's Incredible! I love that scene!"
Haha dork🤓
That scene was awesome though😎👍
