something i never noticed was that you don't have any editing in these videos. it makes them so much more calm. i appreciate it. i suppose it also makes it less work for you :)
27:16 lessgo Eric I saw c4. I tend to immediately dismiss moves if you don't mention them, but I had a real hard time figuring out why c4 didn't trap a bishop. Great video, as always! ❤
Me too. I made a mental note to pay attention to the analysis to hear why he didn't play. This is WAY above my rating range, so I always assume I am missing tactic.
This rating range has been the most interesting to me, it is right above my current ability and so it's fun to calculate along and see how eric and the opponents respond.
New episode, happy days! thanks Eric!! I got one ask if I may, would it bother you to play the English Opening? I'd love to get your insights - guessing many ppl would too :) Keep it up!! xxx
I just want to point out a small detail in the first game, in the position at 4:57 while debating between Nxg4 and Rxf6 there is some concern of a tactical pattern there after 1. Nxg4 Nxg4 2. h3 Bh2+ 3. Kh1 Bg1, threatening Qh2# so it seems like white has no time to take the knight, or the bishop. But here I don't think it works because the Queen is on e1 and white has 4. g3! defending the checkmate and now black is in trouble and would have to give up both pieces for a rook with c5 falling at the end too.
I had not heard of the "Botez Gambit" before. I was wondering at first if I was missing something, and I was, but not like I thought. I had to look it up to see that it just means the accidental blunder of the queen, named after WFM Alexandra Botez did this repeatedly on Twitch, establishing the meme. I'm not a Twitch user myself. I like the term. It seems that even Botez has a good laugh about it.
Really enjoying the speedrun! Just one vote, but I wouldn't mind seeing a couple E4/E5 Italian and/or Ruy Lopez openings at this level of opponent, to learn a little more about various thoughts and lines. From black and white perspectives. :)
Yeah, I saw c4, and was bitterly disappointed that I spotted something my Chess hero missed🙂 but then I remembered everyone misses stuff and was inspired I caught something you missed. Then in the post game analysis you showed the stuff I didn't calculate. The counterattack and that the counterattack doesn't work👍
C4 was the first time I've ever rushed to the analysis before watching the whole game. It was bugging me that I couldn't see why you didn't even mention it so I had to find out what I overlooked, haha. I was relieved to find out it was sound 😮💨
At 37:33, the Black bishop is trapped. Could Black have played BxP, presumably followed by White PxB and Black QxP to minimise White's material advantage, and perhaps increase exposure of White's King?
Thank you so much…we love everything you do…but since you asked i’d love to see a new speedrun with Jobava Londo, caro kann & either slav or nimzo against d4
Hello Eric! I've been thinking about learning the Scandinavian as my main opening against 1.e4 so, if you switch off the Sicilian, I'd love to see you play some Scandy.
37:30 I would've been very afraid of Bxb3 if I was playing this game. The engine is unafraid, whatever black does there's always Qb5+ to force the queen trade. And surprisingly a Bishop for 3 pawns is a very convincing 2.7 advantage (in case Bxb3 cxb3 Qxb3). I would've guessed black's pawns start rolling but apparently there's no time for that.
Hey I’m still catching up on episodes so this request might have already been fulfilled but can you play more Taimonov Sicilians instead of dragons? That’s my main opening with black and I don’t really know how to deal with closed Sicilian. Any pointers?
Hey eric love your videos! Since you were asking for ideas for the sicilian - maybe play an alapan or delayed alapan? would be great to learn some theory
I indeed did spot c4 in the Taimanov Sicilian game but that was such a tricky opening that when you are out of your comfort zone , it is possible to overlook basic trapping. It is not the easiest idea to spot tbh
funny how sometimes analysis reveals seemingly obvious moves like c4. and then less obvious moves like bd1. coconuts Sicilian game, it's cool how important pawn structure is that someone can lose a game over a misplaced pawn. nice games!
Two openings you play a lot (Grand Prix as white, Taimanov Sicilian as black) look like they aim for a shape very similar to Kings Gambit and French Defence Advance Var respectively. Aside from looking a bit similar, do any other ideas cross over? BTW please can you play an old school kings gambit at some point in the run? I expect you can find a way through most refutes :D
For black openings, would love to see an alekhines defense if youre up for it. Otherwise if you are going to stick with sicilian, would love to see you play the najdorf
I never see the Ruy Lopez or Spanish opening played anymore in any video online. It used to be a very popular opening. Please play it for me (especially as white). Thanks
15:00 After f4, which blunders white's light-square bishop, the white player offers a draw. I think that the opponent either thought _"Oh, darn. After this obvious blunder I'm sure this game can not be salvaged, but I have confidence that my adversary is a gentleman and will let it slip as a draw"_ or _"Oh, darn. I have made a blunder but maybe if I offer a draw my adversary will get distracted and won't notice"._
Would love to see a scotch gambit. Its my pet opening but i never see someone at your level play it (i know, i know, probably for a reason, but still...)
Wow I can't believe I actually spotted c4. I paused the vid calculating why Eric didn't play it and was so confused throughout that game. Thankfully Stockfish is on my side for once. I guess I'm just IM material lmao
I spotted C4 to trap the bishop... but as a 1000 rated player, anytime I see something that you don't play, I assume there's something wrong with it too many moves ahead that you see and I don't.
Some poor generaling in game three, I'd say. Something about that pawn on a2 though makes players a little crazy to prove they can rescue the bishop - go figure.
Enjoy these frequent episodes! When you start the next Speedrun, please start from a minimum of 800 rating. Otherwise it takes an eternity to reach a level where there is any instructional value for most of your viewers.
Thanks eric for sharing your awsome teaching videos. I get inspired a lot from them and now play different openings bcuz of them. Thanks again!
So much speed runs lately, we are blessed
I didn't think "speedrun" implied you'd be pumping out episodes so quickly I can't keep up, but here we are.
Yeah , I'd also like to watch it like a netflix series(1 or 2 ep every week)
Watch it at 1.5x speed. Helps me keep up 😅
something i never noticed was that you don't have any editing in these videos. it makes them so much more calm. i appreciate it. i suppose it also makes it less work for you :)
I do actually edit out the longer stretches of silence or moments where I stumble on my words, but the edits are generally quite simple :)
@@eric-rosenI noticed those edits and really appreciate it. Keep up the great work!

I just feel stoked when I find the same moves Eric does, nevermind finding one he missed! Good for you.
me too.. Couldn't believe he missed it.

I felt like this at episode 3, lol
Thank you Eric for this series. I have watched every video and they are an absolute pleasure to watch.
hi, i am watching and letting you know that 27:20, the move pawn c4, trapping the bishop, was not spotted by me 🤓
Thank you Eric for the best speedrun / chess instructional on UA-cam.
You are spoiling us Eric with this frequency! Thank you 🙏🏼
I see Eric also can't wait to start a new agressive speedrun. Soo much episodes to enjoy ❤
Thanks for all these great speedrun games Eric. I love it when you upload so many at once. Rivalling Danya for the best chess content on UA-cam 😀
Love the series, I’m learning so much from you. More London games would be splendid!
Thanks as always for the amazing instructional videos. I’d love to see a few more Caro Kann’s against e4.
Thank you for your instructive and entertaining videos, Eric. I’ve improved so much as a player from watching your speed run videos!
Would be cool to see a Caro against 1.e4, keep up the videos Eric, I love this format of video ❤
Love the increase in speed, curious if you can keep this up 🙂!
23:58 had me cracking up 😂 that guy was resilient!

I hate the London, yet I love watching you play it. You're one of a few people who repeatedly make the London exciting.

Eric the king is back. Awesome as always.
Loving the rapid fire speedrun episodes, thank you Eric! Do you think you could throw in the Najdorf in a future video?
Eric: Powerful Positional Play

i saw C4 trapping bishop, and your videos are great, Clio

In Game 2 I spotted c4 instantly. Was shocked you played d4 without considering the bishop trap... GGs
I like your Speedrun very much.
Actually I don't learn so much but it's interesting games.
I wait unpatiently
for every new episode.
👍🙂

" It is sometimes hard to play like the engine" Eric dry as.
so many episodes so quickly. did someone spike eric's tea?
As a victim of rape, I find this comment aggressively unfunny…
8:41 I know it's somewhat similar to the Taimanov, but any chance you could play a Kan Sicilian?
8:30 Would love to see you play the French Defense against E4. (I don't think you've played it much during the speed run but I might be wrong.)
Thank you so much…we love everything you do…but since you asked i’d love to see a new speedrun with Jobava Londo, caro kann & either slav or nimzo against d4
I spotted c4 but what you did honestly looked better to me like total dominance
Hi Eric! I love your videos!
I love your comment!

Post daily more!!! Thankyou it helps my gameplay
Eric Rosen is the Bob Ross of chess. "We don't get mated in 1, we make happy mistakes."
Do you ever play the alekhine, scandi or benko gambit? These are some openings that I'm learning now and would love to see you play!

37:02 "bobby fischer style" is hilarious

Against E4, I would love to see the Elephant's Gambit. Its a very underappreciated gambit.
Can we see a modern scandi vs E4? Really curious how you would play it.
Hey Eric can you play caro kann...I am currently learning it from Gotham course..would like to see how to play it against higher opposition
Great speed run as always.
I never see the Ruy Lopez or Spanish opening played anymore in any video online.
It used to be a very popular opening.
Please play it for me (especially as white).
Thanks
Eric why wasn't Queen A3 not mate for black in the 3rd game? Thank you for your help.
When I played Qb5, it was check, so black never had time to play Qa3.
@eric-rosen I appreciate you I'm still learning. Have a blessed night!

f4
I think it was a misclick. Player was trying to move the knight there.
@@quazzydiscman thanks. I'll edit my original post.
27:16 i saw it 😊
15:30 isn't en passant a forced move to play?
Eric's power got me sweaty
Eric “the 🐐” Rosen!!!
Thanks Eric!
What s the website he s citing at the end ?
"A funny Botez gambit to finish the game" :))
38:15 I don't see what stops black queen a3 from being checkmate but I'm also bad at chess
these back to backs are like therapy
8:30 we want to see what will you play with black against gm😅
I did spot c4 and noticed the capture chain prevented a counter-attack from working, but I quickly forgot about it as the positional line played out.
27:55 Crazy puzzle!
I was SCREAMING c4 lol. Nice to spot something you miss for a change haha
slightly sacrificing sleep schedule supporting speedrun series
Can you play the Scandinavian as black? And the Scotch as white?
At 19:14 why couldn't white play Rook to e2?
Black is up material so they'd be happy to trade rooks
36:58 lmaoo i was thinking about the same thing
i like to see you win, dont choose crazy opening to lose
Would love to see a scotch gambit. Its my pet opening but i never see someone at your level play it (i know, i know, probably for a reason, but still...)
I would like to see the Caro-Kann
Great stuff as usual
I rather like you to send new episodes often that slow .
The old ones is still available to look at .
It's very interesting to look at your chanel.
🙂👍
In the last game when black queen goes to b4 and you play b5, couldn’t the black queen just go to a3 and still checkmate?
Are you kidding me? One more! Please continue to make them daily until after the election 😂😂😂
Can you play ponziani next episode?
“If there’s a different opening you want to see against e4 let me know in the comments.”
Is Eric just baiting everyone to comment Stafford?

which game was the loss? I must have missed it
Ah, the mouse slip in game 194 (episode 65)
I was never so early
It would be nice to see a Caro Kann for black please!
Some poor generaling in game three, I'd say. Something about that pawn on a2 though makes players a little crazy to prove they can rescue the bishop - go figure.
Can you play a kings indian vs e4
Does anyone think as well that f4 in the Taimanov was a mouseslip? Pretty sure opponent wanted to play Nf4

please play the Reti Gambit

*1 year later: Episode 74*
That first game, there's no way that person was a 2100..
When someone that high rating plays that badly, I usually blame drunken tilt 😂
In my experience, a locked-in 1600 is roughly equal in strength to a tilting 2000, so it's not impossible.
In the second game it looks to me White maybe should aim at exploiting the weak squares around the hanging pawns? idk
