@dab. No, before the sworn testimony he smelled the gunpowder. He was intimidated to not mention it in the sworn testimony. Had he not changed his story, he wouldn't have been called to testify. Just like Walter Cronkite changed his story from the 7.65 Mauser Argentine, to the clunky 6.5 Manlicher Carcano. Railroad workers were also intimidated.

This sudden gap in the motorcade may have saved the VP’s life.” Cronkite said this on live television on November 22, 1963 after the assassination. In a nutshell, Cronkite was saying that LBJ’s car suddenly slowed way, way down while Kennedy’s car proceeded forward (into the kill zone). I was stunned when I heard Cronkite talk about “THE SUDDEN GAP THAT OPENED IN THE MOTORCADE RIGHT BEFORE SHOTS RANG OUT.” Now I suppose that was just pure luck, pure coincidence???? As shown this interview was made the day after the assassination.
Senator Yarborough in later interviews stated that there had to be a gunshot come from the grassy knoll area. He stated as the car that he was riding in, that was just a couple of cars behind the presidents limo, drove to the triple underpass he could smell gunpowder. No way the smell of gun powder could come from the six floor of the school depository which would’ve been behind him. Clearly there was a shooter in the grassy knoll area. Rarely is that interview ever referenced by the naysayers that say Oswald acted alone. Complete nonsense. Clearly there was a conspiracy.

Victims' reactions in Zapruder's film clearly demonstrate they are hit by the same bullet.
Kennedy's massive exit wound seen exploding at the right temple is consistent only with a shot from behind.
Connally's said the shots came from behind.
Witnesses directly under the sixth floor window firmly said the shots all came from directly overhead.
Anybody firing a rifle behind that flimsy knoll fence would be absurdly obvious and very visible.
The above witnesses and Zapruder's secretary all said there was nobody there.
It's vastly implausible anybody would ever assume they would frame this on a lone shooter while firing from multiple directions.
All bullets and fragments ever found were matched to Oswald's rifle.
Autopsy shows the shots came from behind.
Parkland doctors had no particular problem with the autopsy photos.

"Senator Yarborough in later interviews stated that there had to be a gunshot come from the grassy knoll area."
Please quote him verbatim in his own exact words, along with naming the original primary source of the quote so that the rest of us can see for ourselves that you quoted him accurately and that you got the quote from a reliable source, as saying that at least one of the gunshots had to have come from the grassy knoll area. I'm fairly certain I have heard and seen all interviews and statements he ever made about the shooting, on film and in print, and I do not recall him ever saying that specifically. I do indeed, however, recall him specifically saying that all the shots, as in 100 percent of the shots, sounded as if they came from behind and none from any other direction, and also that he heard exactly three shots.
"He stated as the car that he was riding in, that was just a couple of cars behind the presidents limo, drove to the triple underpass he could smell gunpowder."
Nope, that's not what he said. You seem to be getting this from one or more unreliable sources. In his 1975 interview with Geraldo Riviera, which can be found here on UA-cam, he said that he smelled smoke after he heard the first shot and before he heard the second and third shots. The location of the car he was riding in at that time would have been closer to the TSBD than to the knoll. I do not recall him ever specifically saying that the first time he smelled gunpowder was not until the car had gotten to near the Triple Underpass.
"No way the smell of gun powder could come from the six floor of the school depository which would’ve been behind him."
Please quote him and name the source, as saying that he didn't smell gunpowder for the first time until the TSBD was behind him. I'm fairly certain he never said such a thing.
"Clearly there was a shooter in the grassy knoll area."
"Clearly"? Only if one misrepresents the evidence. And I find it quite fascinating that you don't bother to mention witnesses who were *on* the grassy knoll itself. Marilyn Sitzman, standing beside Zapruder on the pedestal, would have been much closer to a supposed grassy knoll gunman than Yarborough, yet she was adamant that she never heard any gunshot that sounded as if it came from anywhere even remotely near that location, and instead said all the shots sounded equally distant. Zapruder also never said anything about any individual shot sounding closer and/or louder than any of the other shots. Emmett Hudson, standing on the steps leading up the knoll, also never said anything about any individual shot sounding as if it came from a different direction, or distance, or location than the others. Bill and Gayle Newman also said that all the shots, as in 100 percent of the shots, sounded as if they came from behind them and none from anywhere else, and I also do not recall them ever saying that any individual shot sounded as if it was closer than the others.
"Rarely is that interview ever referenced by the naysayers that say Oswald acted alone."
Which interview would that be? You're the one who has not named the exact interview with Yarborough, such as naming the year of the interview and who was interviewing him, etc, so it seems to actually be you, a "naysayer" to the single gunman idea, who won't be specific about which exact interview Yarborough gave in which he supposedly said what you claim he said. I've named both the year and the interviewer, 1975, Geraldo Riviera, and correctly and truthfully stated that Yarborough told Riviera that he smelled gunsmoke after he heard the first shot and before he heard the subsequent shots.

@@kiddeath96 "I'd assume..." Well, how about we deal with the actual evidence instead?
As i just said, the victims' reactions in Zapruder's film clearly indicate (not "subtly indicate") they are hit by the same bullet.
As Kennedy is hit, Connally's lapel pops out, his hat flips up, his shoulder is driven down and his expression violently contorts between frames from the blow. One bullet, and ergo, from behind.
Connally was demonstrably seated lower, inboard and turned sharply to his right, the victims' wounds all demonstrably lining up on a perfect trajectory and tracking straight back to that window, as multiple and mathematically precise recreations by various investigators over the years have clearly and consistently demonstrated.
View of the entry wound on Connally's back would have been demonstrably blocked by Kennedy's body, the same bullet has to have gone through both of them.
Witnesses a few feet directly under the sixth floor window firmly said all the shots came from directly over their heads.
The bullet recovered from the stretcher is exactly in a condition perfectly consistent with going through Kennedy without hitting bone, slowing and tumbling on leaving him, as it would have done, then broadsiding its way through Connally's ribs, as medical and forensic evidence clearly demonstrate: badly crushed at the nose and flattened down one side.
That bullet was matched straight to Oswald's rifle.
Nobody planting a bogus bullet at the hospital within one hour of the shooting could possibly have known a bullet needed planting at all or that he wasn't simply planting one bullet too many into evidence and blowing the whole plot.

JFK was probably hit four times: once in the neck, once in the back, and twice in the head. Once from the right front and once from the rear. Connally was probably hit two to three times, and there were at least two misses. Bullets were disposed of to make the cover-up easier to explain. If you count all the bullets you can account for at least 7 shots. 1) The Jerrol Custer bullet found by an X Ray technician at Bethesda when he unloaded the body from the body bag. 2 and 3) the bullets of Dealey Plaza that hit Tague and skidded in the grass by the storm drain. 4 and 5) the bullets found by Secret Service in the Limo and left on stretchers in Trauma Room #1 (independently corroborated by Nurse Phyllis Hall) and admitted to by Agent Sam Kinney) 6) #399, 7) The Nurse Wright bullet. Found by her husband, (A Hospital Orderly) who took it home even after being told by D.A. Wade and her superior to hand it over to FBI. She later revealed the bullet on a Mark Oakes Video that can still be viewed on the Vince Palamara channel.

Also, it was always very obtuse about how Clint Hill got onto the back of the car with Jackie. Earlier windows of the footage show him riding on the side of the back up car. Somehow he managed to run up and jump on JFK's car stepping onto the bumper footstand and leaping onto the back of the car. Many accounts had him somehow walking along. So many strange stories.
Strange these bumper stands were never brought up or revealed in the hundreds and hundreds of footage and photos I saw about the assasination. The bumper stands that were not there are there. Very mysterious. The hand rail to hang on is clearly visible on the right side of the car. More disproven conspiracy stories. It just goes on and on.
Emory Roberts rode shotgun in the back up car head of the Secret Service Detail that day at Dealey Plaza. When the President got shot, Emory Roberts was in charge thereafter. Nobody ever talks about that. He took charge of everything, and immediately got Johnson onto Air Force One to leave Dallas and be sworn in going to Washington or if necessary a safe place to protect him. Emory was my neighbor in Wheaton, Md. on Holdridge Rd.
Most of this is in Dealey Plaza - The End of Camelot by William Wells
In the early morning it was scheduled to rain in Dallas and the Secret Service was setting up to install the canopy on the car. The forecast changed and the President wanted to be seen by the crowds, and besides the President did not want ir put on. So it was not put on.
So as to not make JFK negligent in his death, it was bandied about that there were no foot stands on the rear of the car for Secret Service to ride on. Clearly you can see two foot stands on the rear bumper of the car with handrails to hang on. Clint Hills is stepping on one to get onto the back of the car to be with Jackie. There is just bogus story after bogus story surrounding JFK's assasination.

Yes, so many lies. Designed to confuse ppl and make it seem cut and dry as to the Warren Commission, which was already sorted and decided before the murder. JFK did NOT ask for less S.S. on the car, in fact he was promised the best security details possible. Emory Robert's was the one who pulled back S.S. men and kept motorcycle cops back too. He lied that JFK had ordered it. It is not so, as JFK was warned by two very close friends and Senators to not go into "the snake pit" but he was convinced it was needed and all would go well. They lulled JFK into a false sense of security from the start of the Texas destination tour. Watch Vince Palamara on yt, the interview "two men in Dallas" and listen what the DPD Deputy says in the interview. He was shot in the chest with a shotgun May 15, 1975, after 4 unsuccessful attempts on his life. He owned two handguns, so for a coroner ruling of "self inflicted" ending was the outcome of what he heard and knew. Roger had been told, along with other plain clothes DPD to be a spectator only, if anything regarding the motorcade protection were needed. Roger did not listen and did his work saw LHO or a LHO lookalike, leaving thr area and jumping into a green color station wagon vehicle, owned by Ruth Pain and driven by a male. Watch it, it's very sad what tells a lot about DPC Fritz in particular. Just remember that JFK did not in ask or request no S.S. protection. It was lies by S.S. head detail.

The investigators had spoken with other MD-80 pilots, and learned that many pilots found it a nuisance to hear a take-off configuration warning ("Slats ... Slats... Slats....") while they were simply taxiing. It was so common for pilots to pull the P-40 circuit breaker that the area around the circuit breaker was smudged from routinely being manipulated.[20] This circuit breaker also controls some of the stall warning sounds. This coincided with the missing sounds from the CVR of the incident flight.

LBJ had a loud argument with Kennedy in Fort Worth and insisted that Sen, Yarborough ride in the presidential limo instead of Gov. Connally. LBJ knew that there was going to be be a shooting as he orchestrated the assassination himself. LBJ had the means, motive, and opportunity to take over the presidency in a successful coup. Johnson also ordered the presidential limo be cleaned and whisked back to Love Field and off to Washington before the Texas authorities could examine the limo. This was destruction of evidence and crime scene. He further made certain that JFK's body be rushed back to Washington so that a full autopsy could not be done at Parkland, This was in defiance of Texas law. For further details, refer to "LBJ: The Mastermind of the JFK Assassination" by Philip J. Nelson (Skyhorse Publication, 2013). How do I know what? That Nelson has admitted that at least some of the claims are purely speculative? For one thing, from the review by Publishers Weekly:
"Over the years since John F. Kennedy was assassinated many alternate scenarios have been put forward to challenge the official Lee Harvey Oswald-as-lone gunman story. Nelson reviews a massive amount of secondary sources to support his own hypothesis that the mastermind behind the assassination was then-VP Lyndon Johnson. LBJ's position as Kennedy's successor and "narcissistic/sociopathic personality," combined with his fear of a Kennedy plan to remove him from the upcoming 1964 ticket, form the basis of Nelson's conjecture. He dismisses the Warren Commission review of the evidence as a cover-up, stating that "it has become more and more apparent that much of the evidence originally put forward ... was invented or modified." *Nelson admits his position is speculative* and amalgamates elements of previously offered conspiracy scenarios, but despite his attention to troubling loose ends in the official report, his effort to point the figure at President Johnson remains tendentious."

At the very same time when the assassination took place, the entire telephone system in Washington D.C. was shut off for a whole hour. You mean to tell me, that a book loader, earning a minimum wage can all of a sudden from Dallas call the president of a major telephone company and tell the phone company president to shut off all the telephone lines in Washington for a whole hour?! COME ON NOW!

This is what happens when people get their information from Oliver Stone. The system was indeed overloaded but most calls went through just fine.

@@aaronz7056 You may be right, but Google HelmerReenberg. Each of his videos are only a few minutes long, but you will conclude that the Kennedy assassination was all planned by a group of men. They planned the crime months before November 1963.

"At the very same time when the assassination took place, the entire telephone system in Washington D.C. was shut off for a whole hour."
Nope, you are repeating an unproven factoid or urban legend about the assassination. The entire telephone system in Washington was not "shut off" for anywhere even remotely close to an entire hour. There were certain times when some calls did not go through, yes, because of the system being temporarily overloaded, but plenty of *other* calls did go through, and a partially overloaded telephone system is to be expected when a shocking event like that has taken place. It doesn't prove that there was necessarily anything at all "sinister" about it. I remember that on September 11, 2001, calls to some of my friends in New York City went through, but calls to others did not go through.
"You mean to tell me, that a book loader, earning a minimum wage can all of a sudden from Dallas call the president of a major telephone company and tell the phone company president to shut off all the telephone lines in Washington for a whole hour?!"
Since there is not a shred of credible evidence that anything even remotely similar to that happened, that question is meaningless.

@@Caeruleo Okay, you win on this one, BUT, how do you explain the many witnesses to the assassination that died mysteriously from 1964-66 and even years after that yet? How come at the time, a captain Fritz who interrogated Oswald had no stenographer to take down notes in the interrogation room? How come the press rode in vehicles far behind the presidential limousine and not in front like they were supposed to? How come , back in the day, Dallas deputy, Roger Craig was harrassed , attacked and died all because he reported seeing a man looking like Oswald , ran down the grassy knoll, and hopped in a Nash Rambler station wagon which then headed west on Elm Street? To describe this mildly, all these happenings at the time should be regarded as rather 'fishy.' Like CBS reporter Dan Rather---'fishy.'

Ralph Yarborough was a man of the people. He had the courage to be the only Senator from a former Confederate State to vote for civil rights legislation and was for complete integration of the races. This probably led to his defeat in the Democratic primary loss to Lloyd Bentson since so many Texans supported segregation. He was maybe the smartest and most eloquent Senator representing Texas in history and was clearly ahead of his time as a liberal. Unlike Ted Cruz, who allowed Trump to humiliate him and his family on national TV and has been nothing but a sniveling coward since.
