During the voice recordings, Sam Witwer had reportedly corrected Director Dave Filoni on a script error. In the original script, Anakin was suppose to talk with his deceased mother on meeting his wife, Padme. In the studio, Sam had pointed out the flaw in the script as Anakin's mother had already met Padme prior in The Phantom Menace.

Two fun facts about this episode.
    - One, the voice cast for this episode is stacked! Not only did Liam Neeson return as Qui-Gon, but so did Pernilla August as Shmi! On top of that, the Son and the Daughter are voiced by the voices of Starkiller and Maris Brood from The Force Unleashed respectively.
-Two, during the development of Last Jedi, Kathleen Kennedy had Rian Johnson meet with Dave Filoni. He recommended that Rian take inspiration from this arc.

@@L0L246 Not really. Legends was never as canon as Lucasfilm now treats their canon. Lucas said time and time and time again how the Expanded Universe _was not his vision for Star Wars_ and that he barely ever read any of it. Hell, The Clone Wars itself completely overwrites several EU works, namely the Republic Commando books and the original Battlefront 2 campaign.
And while I don't know if he ever specifically talked about his feelings on the expansion of the Mortis stuff, such as their expanded history and Abeloth, he did make it especially known that he did not really agree with the direction of post-ROTJ Expanded Universe (which is where most of the expanded Mortis stuff comes from).
The reason he allowed it is because he simply always said that there were two Star Wars universes. His universe, and the universe of the books, comics, and games. They were always alternate universes and time and time again he would prove this mindset by walking over whatever was "canon" in the EU at the time as he pleased. He did it with the prequels, he did it with The Clone Wars, and if you read his ideas for the Sequel Trilogy it's clear he would have done it again for the post-ROTJ era.

Something many people misunderstand that the jedi don't "own" the light side or the sith "own" the dark side. The force will be there even after all jedi and sith are gone forever. There are many species in legends but also in canon that use the force without having any connection to the sith or jedi. Both factions are just groups of religous fanatics that use the force

    • @houseofaction

In Legends, there was...for a time.
To oversimplify it, back when they where still living in the galaxy, there was a mortal woman serving them who helped keep the peace between the Son and the Daughter becoming part of the family.
But as she grew old, she sought to extend her life out of love for her immortal family. She ended up drinking from the Font of Power and bathing in the Pool of Knowledge. This gave her great command over the Dark Side and the Light Side as well as eternal life but also drove her insane transforming her into an entity known as Abeloth. The Ones eventually had to seal her away with the help from another ancient species, the Kiliks, a bug-species from Alderaan. She would break out a few times but always be put back in prison eventually ending up in the Maw, a remote area of the galaxy.
Eventually, and the following is a VERY oversimplified version, she would seemingly be killed by a coalition between Luke Skywalker, the Lost Tribe of Sith, which were the descendens of survivors of the Sith Genocide performed by the Republic and the Jedi after the Great Hyperspace War who crashed on a remote planet and ended up forgetting how to travel the stars hence why they managed to survive until long after the Empire fell, and Darth Krayt, an Order 66 survivor turned Sith who was in hiding building a new Sith Order to eventually take over the galaxy (which he tried about a hundred years later).

Aaaand about 40 years after Return of the Jedi she escaped, and Luke and his Jedi Order tried to track her down and fight her, at the same time working together with a new Sith group and fighting them when they betrayed them... and we will never learn the conclusion to that story because after Disney bought Star Wars they declared the Expanded Universe non-canon and the writers stopped working on that.

Unfortunately Luke isn't a grey jedi, it isn't canon - even during the star wars expanded universe days it's status was a bit dodgy - it was term that came up in some of the games and fans really blew it up because we all like a morally grey protag. there are some jedi and sith who have left their order and are no longer as dogmatic as they once were but they are considered light side or dark side force users. I guess the problem is according to the lore, once you start using the darkside it corrupts you so you can't become grey, you just become a darkside user.

So this family was actually crucial to maintaining the balance. After the events of the next episode, (I'll keep it vague as not to spoil it) but since Anakin decided to leave, what he didn't know is that every force user in his universe then must make a conscious effort to keep the balance. Anakin's son, Luke, discovers this. (And this is why I love legends, it all connects and I think holds so much more potential for great Star Wars cinematic story telling but maybe that's just me.) Luke was traveling with his son Ben when they encountered a dark creature named Abeloth. During this time, Jedi in the New Republic were suddenly becoming sick with reverse imposter syndrome and posing a danger to people around them. While Luke and Ben were looking for answers about this, Abeloth briefly told them that the Jedi and Sith always had misconceptions about 'balance'. And that, since Anakin didn't stay behind on that planet, the true balance was in the hands of the living populations. After realizing this, Luke and his son Ben spearheads one of his many new trailblazing ideologies: that Jedi must be peacekeepers with the Sith as well. Of course, not allowing mass destruction, but to maintain the balance.

They carried Force sensitive from all around the galaxy into the deep core to the planet Tython where these Force sensitives founded the Je'daii Order.
The Je'daii Order, who initially belived in balance by using both the Dark and Light Side, or Bogan and Ashla, as they called them, equally eventually became the Jedi Order after the Force Wars, a conflict between those who favored the Dark Side and those who favored the Light Side (guess who won and became the Jedi).

The mother is abeloth might be worth watching a quick UA-cam video on her origins. Essentially she was a being who served the father, son, and daughter, and swam in something called the font of power. She went insane and terrorized the galaxy, grandmaster Luke Skywalker amongst others defeated her I think.

This is one of the few stories that George has a LOT of involvement with. It is probably one of the most important moments in the franchise and acts as both a tool for foreshadowing and reconciliation of the galaxy's origins. It not only explains the chosen one, it details the birth of the Jedi and Sith if you are more familiar with the extended lore. The implications that Obi-wan had no idea who the Father is truly shows how far the vanity of the Jedi had grown over some

25:38 Funny you mentioned that. (First of all, this was just a rumor and I don't think this has ever been officially confirmed). When Disney was working on Episode 9, they had a meeting with George Lucas for potential story ideas and George Lucas suggested to do something with this. They didn't go through with it because unless you have seen the Clone Wars, introducing audiences to all this may be a bit overwhelming.

The actor that voices the Son is Sam Witwer. A name y'all will become extremely familiar throughout the rest of the Clone Wars as he also voices Maul.
Also ... y'all can imagine how much fans lost our minds when this arc dropped. It is so unlike anything we had ever seen from Star Wars up to this point, and it lore drops so much information about the Force. It's an incredibly well-done story that has stuck with fans ever since. You will not look at the Force the same when you guys finish this arc.

This Arc is so crazy and cool and really dives deep into the Origin of the Force itself and how different beigns use it and how they try to manipulate it. Its verry good and interesting with much lore to discuss.
These 3 are verry ancient beigns. And like the Father said they retreated into this prison so noone could harness their power. That Prison or Planet is simmilar to Dagobah (Where Yoda hides in the OT) Its a conduit of the force where it is verry powerful. To say that the Son is the embodiment of the Dark side and the Daughter of the light while the Father is the one in the middle would be to simple but you could say it that way.
Also the Mother is Abeloth. A crazy almost Lovecraftian begin that is so powerfull it was imprisoned in a part of Space with many Darkholes. Also known as "The Maw" in the Universe. Its a Region of Space where there are somany Darkholes its almost impossible to navigate. And all that go there are slowly getting insane because of Abeloth. She has crazy powers that could drain the lifeforce of peopel.
Its also worth watching the Featurett and the deleted scenes to this arc because of some cool cameos :D

  • @narshavaal29
    @narshavaal29 2 роки тому

Well the mother is a little bit complicated to explain. And because Abeloth is not any part of clone wars or any tv show i dont believe telling you about her is considered spoiler. So basically she was a normal human woman who crashed on that planned about 100,000 years bby(before new hope), she met the son, daughter and father and after some time she started to develop a relationship with them like a mother to the daughter and the son. After many years she started to age while the rest didnt age and she felt powerless to help her children only the father could control them when they got out of control, so she decided to drink from the Font of Power where the power of the son originated and the Pool of knowledge where the daughters powers originate. So she became powerful very powerful, but that also twisted her and she decided to controlled the son and daughter to obey her so they wont be fighting and ignoring her. The father seeing this rescued the daughter and son and left the planet. This made Abeloth mad and caused her mental state to deteriorate even more leading to her becoming a world destroying monster. The father, the son and the daughter went and got the help of a hive mind species called Killiks and instructed them how to create a project known as Centerpoint Station used to imprison her after the father, daughter and the son exhausted her by fighting her. That project was several space station forcing several black holes each at her location. In addition this prison wasn't able to hold her for very long. Every x amount of years she escaped and all 3 (father, daughter and son) had to fight her and force her back to her prison.
