Your house stays so clean and tidy because there is no men to mess it up!! Especially the bathroom!! I use bicarb and vinegar a lot. Mix cream of tartar, salt and vinegar for a great drain cleaner. Love your videos and your instagram makes me laugh every day!!
For laundry, you can try soap nuts. I started using it half year ago, they are some nut shell looking thingy, you just need 4-5 in a little bag, and put it in the laundry, the clothes come out clean and soft, I usually add Some essential oil in. The soap nuts can be reuse for 2-3times, the the nuts can go into compost bins, very environmental friendly , and very cheap too, £10 for few hundred washes xxx
Wow thank you very much for letting us know that about the oils and and cats cuz I would not know how to handle that if I did something like that got him sick so like I said thank you for the heads up
When I was first married, and for years after, I loved all of the cleaning products when I would go grocery shopping. I had it all lol But now, many years later, I make my own. I use Dawn dish soap, rubbing alcohol, and a little water. I put this solution in IKEA spray bottles. It cleans, isn't bubbly because of the alcohol, disinfects, and smells great. I use it on everything from dishes to cleaning my home top to bottom. I really enjoyed this video tfs xox
I have been wanting to reduce plastic in my home and wanted the glass spray bottles. Glass spray bottles with sprayer empty can be $10.00 to $12.00 in the US. I have discovered that I can use the sprayer part from my plastic bottles, thoroughly cleaned and trimmed, will fit on glass bottles of vinegar. Yay me reduce plastic and get cheap vinegar and glass bottle.
You are such an inspiration to me! Not just in crafting, up cycling, and all of your other ideas… But your delightful sense of humor and personality, your joy of life, Love of all things dainty, and your humble personality make you all the more lovable! Thank you for telling everyone about essential oils and cats not mixing well. There has actually been deaths involved. So many people don't realize this. Thank you again for helping in getting the word out! Also, there are warnings out now about essential oils and babies. Please, everyone, be careful.
Love your video..I keep baking soda in a jar with a wooden scoop, when I want to scour my sinks or tub, I sprinkle some of the soda and add some Dr. Bronners or Mrs. Meyer's liquid soap and you have a nice soft scrub. Rinses well too.

Hi Catherine ! Some good cleaning solution ideas I do use a vinegar dish soap and water solution for my floors and countertops.i still use some stronger cleaners in my bathrooms. When cleaning my toilets I always use paper towels or a separate rag that's used only on the toilets because of all yucky germs that are on are toilets. My cleaning schedule is a lot like yours ! Have a nice evening!
I use a steam cleaner for floors. The heat sterilizes and helps the surface dry quickly. I love being able to do this using only water. And I LOVE Castile soap. I admit in my "hippie" days I used it to wash my hair, but I haven't for a very long time and I don't personally recommend it. I really enjoy your cleaning tips! Thank you!
There is something very satisfying watching you clean. And wow oh wow the beautiful blue pillows on your couch in bedroom. I loved the house tour as you cleaned. It was stunning. 🌸🦋🤗
Hi Catherine the natural products that we use for cleaning is vinegar, baking soda, peroxide and essential oils. In the washing machine for the softener I use white vinegar with some essential oils it makes your clothes soft and it eliminates buying a softener.
Hi Catherine, I adore homemade cleaners. I appreciate this video. I use vinegar and I steep orange peel in white vinegar for two weeks. Then it is ready to clean with. You can use lemon peel or mix the two together.I have a Bosch hoover it is brilliant. I agree damp cloth for dusting. I really love this video as so informative. You have done excellent Well accomplished, Catherine. Thank you for video and blessings and greetings and hugs.xoxo
Love your videos! You can add an aul teabag to the cleaning products like Lemon and ginger or green tea and it will make them smell lovely whilst still being pet friendly xx
Your home is immaculate Catherine. My home is very dusty all the time as I use coal fires and live in th country where lots of muck gets walked in but like you I try to keep on top of it. It takes me a long time as I have big rooms and high ceilings and lots of trinkets and treasurers. Must try the castile soap always meant to but never got around to it. I use a steam cleaner in my home and if you have pets it's a great safe way to clean. We mop our floors with it and clean our outside and inside windows with it which I was doing today. My steam cleaner is a vaporetto and is a very useful tool. Also use vinegar to clean my washing machine inside I just run an emtpy cycle with vinegar where the powder goes it really works and leaves no vinegar smell. Thanks for sharing your Beautiful home with us your videos are the highlight of my week and always inspire me as I have fibromyalgia and have bads days but seeing you and your lovely home spurs me on to get through and upkeep my wee Shabby Chic cottage xo ❤️
That has got to be THE sweetest dish holder I've ever seen! Castile soap is next on my list. I do use distilled water & distilled vinegar and baking soda. The d-vinegar doesn't have a strong scent at all and it dissipates quickly. Great video Catherine!
Lol...Henry the Hoover, love that...💕...I am the same have a love hate with my vacuum...hopefully soon will get one that I love...💖...great inspiration...tfs...🌺💕🌺...love all the tips n DIY cleaners...🌸
Bread soda & vinegar, my favourites. A staple in my house for years. I really believe you only need a handful of products to keep your home clean & looking great. I have two kids & two cats so I'm constantly cleaning! Great video😊
Your home is beautiful 😍 just a tip you may like? with cleaning cloths in bathroom's when working in hotels when I was younger we had blue for loo and pink for sink that way you didn't cross nasty gems x
You are totally my new favorite channel. I love the way you put your videos together and I am not going to lie I am taking some notes on how to make mine look better from you!
I love your channel and your house. I can relate to your frustrations with the Hover. I switched to a cordless stick vacuum for daily cleaning. I hate vacuuming much less now.
Hello again,I loved watching it cleaned routine and it house is so beautiful and it's so stylish.I have made us soaps before,I do which u could make a simply soap with no fragrance in.Lots of love Tracy and little Ruby from England xx.
Love your tips and your video's . I have just started making my own too. I already make and sell my natural skin care. My tip to you is to use different coloured cloths for cleaning. Blue for the loo. Pink for the sink. Green for glass. Sometimes yellow for polishing. I get my cloths from b&m store and they are micro fibre and the blue and pink have net on the back for scrubbing. Very cheap. Tracy xx
You almost make me want to clean, which I am not keen on. But I am house proud enough to want to keep it tidy. LOL. I tecently bought the Dyson cordless. So much easier than the cords. I spent the summer in UK. The battery was still going when we came back.
Great job Catherine!!! I’ve been trying to use more natural products too, like the vinegar and baking soda.Vacuuming a lot with pets is a must LOL. I don’t know if you have Method products there, but I use some of them too. Hope you’re having a nice evening! 😘
I just got the Enjo cleaning system, special fibre clothes which only require water . Has to be seen to be believed , but absolutely brilliant. 👍🏻 seems we’re all moving away from chemicals & that’s a good thing 😀
Hello Catherine you're absolutely right Castile soap is made with sodium hydroxide and olive oil so it's very vegetable based. This might work also if you make homemade soap like I do. I also make my cleaner like you I use water vinegar a little bit of lemon oil a little bit of orange oil and a little dribble of like just a few drops of dish soap and you can use it on mirrors wood spots on the floor anyting. I love your bottles though they're so cute minor just from a dollar store and it's really ugly. I will have to adopt your pretty ways that you have! Love your videos thank you so much, you're very inspiring. XXX Willow
Ive also been switching to safer/healthier cleaning products. It’s important to me, my husband & our daughter & also better for our cats. They lick themselves all the time & ingest the toxic chemicals. I enjoyed watching you clean up & Pepsi supervising 😊
Catherine I have had a great time making non toxic cleaning products. For laundry I tried soap nuts and they are fantastic. For stains use a little castille and wash as normal. You have changed the way I clean forever and the funny thing is my home smells and feels cleaner. Will we try beauty products next?
Great video! I'm addicted to bleach as a cleaner. I rarely dilute and when I use it to clean, by the time I'm done, I feel like I drank a cup. So, I need a change. I tried 'green' cleaners b4, but I wasn't convinced that they killed bacteria and germs. I'm slightly germophobic so I definitely need the assurance that what I'm using is sanitizing.
I have been changing over too because of my cats. I am still changing all over to as natural and 100% cruelty free. I have always wanted to try Dr. Bronner's, picking some up next time I am out.
I have been making my own laundry soap for many years. I shred and chop up bars of soap such as Castile soap in bar form. You can shred it and chop it up yourself with hand tools. I wasn't using my mini food processor so I have dedicated it to the making of cleaning products. I store in the laundry area so that it doesn't get used by anyone in the kitchen. I mix equal parts shredded and chopped Castile soap or a specialized laundry soap such as Fels-Naptha with washing soda and borax. I understand in Europe borax is very difficult to find and I have read others who use two parts washing soda to the shredded up bars of soap. I leave it in powder form and use 2 tablespoons for regular load and if it's a high-efficiency you use one tablespoon. Personally I prefer to use some OxiClean when I have things that are stained. So I don't mix the OxiClean into the powder laundry soap. when I have something that is white and stained I will spray it with hydrogen peroxide. I know there are a lot of recipes that use a liquid version of what I just described but I find the powder is easier to store and it works really well. I have a small jar with a cover on it that I just put some water in the tablespoon or two of the soap Shake It Up and pour it into the bottom of my washing machine. I don't use a high-efficiency washing machines that has the rubber gasket. So sometimes I add vinegar to the rinse instead of a fabric softener. But I understand you shouldn't use the vinegar if you have the Rubber seal because it can wear down the seal. I only use the vinegar as a rinse agent on clothes that might get a little staticky like skirts or dress pants. Most of the time I don't use vinegar in the rinse. I thought I would mention that I take the same all purpose cleaner that you're using with the soap. I add vinegar and a little rubbing alcohol and that is what I use on my kitchen counters because I feel it sterilizes it a little more. in the bathroom I will use a little hydrogen peroxide around the toilet because it kills viruses including the Norovirus. It's very important that you keep hydrogen peroxide in a light proof container because light will actually affect the hydrogen peroxide while it's being stored. I just found a spray nozzle that fit the hydrogen peroxide bottle. I clean my keyboard and monitor and so forth with a little rubbing alcohol on a microfiber cloth and that does a good job of cleaning without getting things wet and damaged. Personally I use the rubbing alcohol right from the bottle on the microfiber cloth because I'm really concerned about getting any water on my electronics. I use the baking soda as an abrasive to scrub my sink. But I will also make a paste of baking soda in a pan that has burnt on food or to clean my oven and I make the paste just with water. soaking a pan with a little bit of baking soda and water will get burnt out messes cleaned up easy. I don't really care for the liquid Castile soap I find it it leaves a film. So when it comes to liquid soap I use dye free clear unscented dishwashing or washing up liquid. When I try to use dr. Bronner's Soap on my dishes I noticed a film that developed in time especially on glassware and silverware.
Loved this! 🤗 I also like to do a bit each day, so much easier than letting everything pile up. Great message too, on using natural products to clean our homes. I've been a fan of vinegar and water for years, and bicarb as well. I also like using vinegar as a fabric softener.
thanks, i used to use all natural but then fell back into buying the nasty products again, i will go back to natural again!!! thanks for the reminder:) also did not know about essentials oils and pets- thanks for that info so love your house :)
Oh I love tips on cleaning products as I have asthma can’t use bleach ect I use jig but I’ll try all them now I use apple wipes on my leather couch georgous smell xxx good video Cathrine 🙋♀️
You're also being kind to the animals. Most of the cleaners you get at the grocery store are tested on kitties, puppies, bunnies, etc. So I always look for cruelty free as well as organic. Thanks for your channel... I absolutely love your home!!!
Thank you for leaving smaller footprints! All the toxic chemicals that go into our oceans and landfills :( if we make small efforts its better then NOTHING! Love your channel x
Clean as you go that’s what I’ve always done it, didn’t realise the defuser was bad for cats, ta for that, myself and my daughter have been using vinegar for a couple off years, it really is great for everything, great video
Hi! I'm a new subscriber from Jamaica! Yeah mon! I Loooooooooooooove you accent - thats why I subscribed and I love your pretty sense of style. Keep em coming
Hi Dainty I honestly didn’t think how harmful products could be I think ‘we’ all just wanted a nice smelling home regardless but I have a dog and a cat and if nothing else I’m definitely going to try the floor cleaning method. Thank you for your info always glad to learn knowledge from any source that helps my pets , my house my purse xx
Those amber glass spray bottles are gorgeous catherine. Way nicer than the old recycled shop bought cleaner empties I use. A couple og extra little things I do as well is I have a squeegy I use before I step out of the shower and I wipe down the tiles and shoeer doors with it. Takes a second and meand way less cleaning is needed. If you put some orange peels into a vinegar botyle for about 3 weeks infuses the oils into the vinegar to make it even more powerful for cutting through grease gir the cooker and things like that. In my oven I sprinkle baking soda then spray it with vinegar and leave it sitting for a while to do its job. In america they can get amonia and isopropyl slcohol and borax which gives them much better ranges of cleaners to diy. They were impossible to get in ireland but they seem to be gradualky making an sppearance again. Ive found listings of a few places that say thwy ship to ireland so they must be allowing them in the ciuntry again. I think a couple of the items were on a ban list from the old troubles . I agree with you about making our homes less toxic where possible. We are bombarded with toxins when you think about it. Xx
I stopped using most commercial cleaners a few years ago; I do use a commercial tub cleaner for hard water and commercial toilet bowl cleaner for lime/scale. I find a microfiber rag and my homemade cleaners do a fab job. I didn't like the vinegar smell at all, but I adjusted b/c it dissipates quickly. I don't even notice it now. I'll discourage you from making homemade laundry soap. I did, and at first it was great. I loved it and it was super cheap. But not having any surfactants in the mixture, my clothes, over time, got dingy. There may be a fix for this but I haven't come across one. It's nothing to do with hard water either. Stuff gets trapped in your clothes, b/c there is nothing to break the surface tension: stuff like grease and dirt. Surfactants make water wetter.. So the savings isn't any savings in the long run if it ruins your clothes. btw: I loved you lavender microfiber cloth. I haven't found any here in pastels. I usually but the big packs in the auto car washing dept at the store. I have yellow, orange, blue, white, lime green and dark blue. Some I had to retire. Microfiber ruined me. I cannot clean with a regular cloth. It has to be microfiber.
I agree. The cleaning craze it great and has seemed to motivate a lot of people but the chemical products seem to be worrying me more and more. I have decided to use up the products I have now and either buy something like Method or Mrs Meyers or simply bite the bullet and attempt to make my own like you have. Thanks for taking the time to show us how you make your own cleaning products. A really well timed and relevant video for me 🙋
Mrs Meyers isn't as eco friendly as it makes out and isn't non toxic! The brand had a very good marketing team behind it and they apparently based the packaging on Dr Bronner's Castile Soap because people associate the look with a natural brand. It's really disappointing!
I never know where to start with making my own cleaning products! I hate using all the chemical stuff but theres so many recipes for making your own, its overwhelming!
I really enjoyed this video, it was lovely finding a youtuber I already follow going greener :) I also clean with vinegar and I've just found out about infusing it to make it smell better! You put herbs or citrus peels in a jar (I'm doing lemon peel and rosemary sprigs), fill the jar with vinegar and leave in a dark place for 14 days. Then you strain the mixture, dilute vinegar as normal for cleaning and it should smell great! Hope this helps x
Liked your video today. I have changed the cleaning chemicals I use in my house. I started using Method lavender plant based cleaner...smells wonderful. I still use the old basic vinegar.
Wow, thank you, I didn’t know about the essential oils in the diffuser being harmful to the cats. That was the main reason I was using one in my sunroom; my big male cat prefers not to bury “his business” in his litter box (sorry, TMI) yuck! 🤢. I buy the Aunt Fannie vinegar cleaners on Amazon. I think I will try making my own. With two dogs, two cats, two teenagers and a husband I dream of a housekeeper! Lol!
Definitely trying this. I know there’s different scents of the soap. My cabinet is overflowing with cleaning supplies, which always bothers me. Thanks for sharing
Thankyou Catherine, I've always cleaned as I go, and everywhere naturally stays tidy and clean. It's pet hairs that are my bug bare. 3 cats and a dog. 😂 Feel like my hoover is always on.. I have to drag my hoover around and have the same problems 😂 I'm going to try those solutions, anything that turns milky colour when added to water is also harmful to cats, zoflora is one of them. Xx
Fantastic video Catherine. Thank you so, so much for taking the time to create this video. It worries me how the recent craze for chemical cleaners and disposable cleaning products is impacting on ourselves, our fur babies and our world. The irony of course is that we clean to make our environment better! Thank you so much for helping to increase awareness of this. Love you and your channel- I’m off to find some of that amazing Dr Boner soap... 😉😂xx
One of my favorite diy cleaners is for a laundry pretreat spray. Mix 1 part regular dishwashing soap, 1 part ammonia and 2 parts hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle. Shake the bottle before each use. Saturate the stain and let sit for 30 minutes and launder as usual. This is excellent for all kinds of stains including pet stains for items that can be laundered.
Hello, I'm not sure what your name is? But I love your videos, you remind me a lot of me 35 years ago and it's lovely to see. I bought a muffin tin today with you in mind, it's a lovely shade of pink in ceramic, it weighs a ton. Anyway do keep up the great work, it I can learn from you at 56 then anyone can. Take care sweetie ... Marie oxo
Absolutely love your videos and home, I have been using diluted vinegar to clean just about everything for years and I don’t mind the smell, but my family on the other hand don’t like it .
Your house stays so clean and tidy because there is no men to mess it up!! Especially the bathroom!! I use bicarb and vinegar a lot. Mix cream of tartar, salt and vinegar for a great drain cleaner. Love your videos and your instagram makes me laugh every day!!

These tips are amazing, thanks so much for taking the time to write and share them x
Love the video love the brown spray bottles and tags x

Where did you get your cute heart dish rack? It is so cute!
All the feels for this video Catherine 💕💕 xx
Loved this! 🤗
I also like to do a bit each day, so much easier than letting everything pile up.
Great message too, on using natural products to clean our homes. I've been a fan of vinegar and water for years, and bicarb as well. I also like using vinegar as a fabric softener.
I never thought to use vinegar for fabric softerner, Thanks so much for watching x
thanks, i used to use all natural but then fell back into buying the nasty products again, i will go back to natural again!!! thanks for the reminder:) also did not know about essentials oils and pets- thanks for that info
so love your house :)
Thanks so much for watching Lisa, I had forgotten that they are also tested on animals. x
Thank you for leaving smaller footprints! All the toxic chemicals that go into our oceans and landfills :( if we make small efforts its better then NOTHING! Love your channel x
Luved this!
You could try the Mrs Meyer's dish soap? Xx
Aw thanks Susan! X
Great bottles to store the diy products in. Cleaning goes well with *Bewitched*"!
No comment... This is perfect!!! Thank you
I've been using homemade cleaners for over a year now as the shop bought stuff was making me feel really unwell. It's brilliant.
Xx
Right on! Kind to the environment rocks!
Thanks so much for watching x
love the video😊 just wondering where you got the spray bottles and the dr bonners soap? thanks
Great video as always Catherine, have you tried the eco balls for laundry? I haven't but they seem popular, you can get them on Amazon xx
A really well timed and relevant video for me 🙋
Thanks for watching, I am interested in trying out the method cleaners x
@@DaintyDiaries on Amazon you can also get a pack from a company called Alkimi. They are non toxic also so that's another option x
Great ideas, I use Dr Bronners and love it. You are on top of so many wonderful things and that’s just commendable. 😉
I love this!!
Oh fab! I love this idea, thanks for sharing x
Lol!
Wow. Your vidoes are so helpful to me. Im so happy i found your vidoes. I am just looking through your vidoes and im impressed.
Thanks Jacklyn!
Definitely trying this. I know there’s different scents of the soap. My cabinet is overflowing with cleaning supplies, which always bothers me. Thanks for sharing
You have a beautiful home 💜
Your dish drainer/holder is cute.
Thanks! I got that in Next a few years ago x
Xx
I love your videos you are just so sweet and have such imagination and so creative ans great style...
yehhh ! thank you so much for making this video, you are such a hard working girl. love
Ciao Dainty beautiful video 👍👍👍👍❤❤❤👋👋👋
Love a good cleaning video, I did not know about essential oils and cats, great info, xxx
Ti seguo da un bel po'...ti guardo dall Italia 😊Complimenti per la tua casa... È stupenda! É una bomboniera 😍, hai tanto stile.. brava..
Thanks so much for watching! and for your support x
Beautiful home ❤😍
Fantastic video Catherine. Thank you so, so much for taking the time to create this video. It worries me how the recent craze for chemical cleaners and disposable cleaning products is impacting on ourselves, our fur babies and our world. The irony of course is that we clean to make our environment better! Thank you so much for helping to increase awareness of this. Love you and your channel- I’m off to find some of that amazing Dr Boner soap... 😉😂xx
LOL, DR Bonner, Thanks so much for watching x
One of my favorite diy cleaners is for a laundry pretreat spray. Mix 1 part regular dishwashing soap, 1 part ammonia and 2 parts hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle. Shake the bottle before each use. Saturate the stain and let sit for 30 minutes and launder as usual. This is excellent for all kinds of stains including pet stains for items that can be laundered.
Thanks so much for sharing that recipe! x
Looks fab as always xx
