I can only imagine the shock on a kid's face when Grandma whips out her guitar and shows him/her what the rest of the world knows her for. lmao
Probably will downplay it and call it cringe.
@@taoist32 Then turn on Rap music...
@@raphaeljohnlall You mean real rap music? Run DMC, NWA, Bone Thugs N Harmony, etc.
@@taoist32 Grandpa, what do you mean you had a band called Public Enemy?
They might have suspected something was different when grandma did not tell them to "TURN THAT NOISE DOWN!" Maybe, when grandpa --what a lucky man they are!-- couldn't keep his hands off grandma --and those times that grandma couldn't keep her hands off grandpa either!-- and the chandeliers rocked to the beat! Having been accused of making too much noise and of watching some music videos at an ear splitting volume, the fortunate child that gets to play drums with abandon and encouragement has it made! Rob Reiner has spoken about how his children couldn't connect Michael Stivik with him; undoubtedly, a chorus of NAH! had to be silenced by a riff or two for the same reason.

Did all of you watch the Go-Go's Documentary on SHOWTIME? I had forgotten that the band opened for the Police in the 80's! Stewart Copeland was interviewed and was asked if he thought the Go-Go's should be in the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame. He response was CLASSIC.......
"What the fuck, they're not?" - Stewart Copeland of the Police
rock and blow hall of fame is just that. Pat is not in??? list goes on. Took how many years for RUSH to get in. Its a scam. These gals rock, for past 40+ years. They wrote their own songs, had number one singles and albums, changed the entire dynamic for woman. Who can hold a candle to them??? Not many if any. Rock N RHF suks
Growing up with the Gogos in the 80s I’m glad to see these guys are still going. Keep on rockin girls.
I REALLY love their decision to have Belinda AND Jane sing the third verse, I think it really adds a nice touch because their voices go together so well.
All these years later and I'm still crushing on Jane Wiedlin.

Yes and love her hair!
The greatest decade for music the 80’s it rules even in 2024
60s and 70s by far
music went to shit in the 90's, imo. personally, i'd say the 70's was the best decade for music, next the 60's, then the 80's. i mean, if i'm being objective and honest. i'm an 80's brat for sure, but despite it having some of my favorite music, that's when it began to fall apart. rock lost the script, country i think began to lose its soul, and it began the era of pop music written by like two guys who wound up creating a literal music factory resulting in everything sounding the same. i never did like rap, but at least it was new, it amazes my how dumb it's become.
There are no words to express just how fabulous this is. They sound fantastic (maybe even better?) - 40 years later!
I agree.
And look great too, after 40 years!!!
I love that Jane wants to still jump around. She’s still a ball of energy even at that age.
And still very beautiful. Timeless beauty.

Wow, how did I miss this last year? I still have the 8-track, saw them live in 1983, the whole coliseum danced the whole night.
Nice! I just saw Belinda in NYC a few days ago, and the energy level in the room when this song started amped up so much! It was a great vibe.

They are *EXACTLY* the same. .. but older.
Age is a Social Construct . I mean just look at Joe Biden LOL
They play like old people. :P Watch a live video from the 80's Somebody lost a couple of steps. It's either Gina or the band can't keep up. Boost the speed up to 1.05x and see what sounds correct.
They may have gotten older, but they sure as hell haven't gotten old. God Bless The Go-Go's. :D
As a hardcore metal head going back to this era in music, I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a big Go-Gos fan. They were cool as hell. Clever, catchy songs. Cool to see they're still playing!

Just saw the documentary on them and wow, they're pretty awesome! Apparently, they're the first and only all female band who wrote and played their music to top the billboard charts, their debut went platinum, they influenced and paved the way for many acts after them and they're NOT in the rock and roll hall of fame?! That's just crazy!
Journey wasn't for a long time either. The documentary will probably generate enough fan support the Hall of Fame will be shamed into putting them in.
I remember when Pearl Jam was inducted in 2017, and their lead singer essentially said we aren't worthy of being here along side all of these groups that have been playing for 4, 5 decades.
Yes "The Runaways" were actually the first .
The Go Go's were next and then The Bangles.

True that... but *"The Runaways"* never really achieved the mainstream success that *"The Go-Gos"* did.
Not that chart success or monetary gain are the only - or the most important - measures of a band's significance or impact. Truly there'd probably have been no Go-Gos were it not for the trailblazing Runaways... but as far as the OP's statement *"the first and only all female band who wrote and played their music to top the billboard charts",* that does indeed describe the Go-Gos...
