Very interesting to see the mirror from the other end. I really felt like I was supposed to lose one of those games even while playing. And it looks even more so from this perspective. I believe that one tap land at game 1 cost you your game as now I got to Boarding Party first. The second game I simply drew too many cards in the end.
The thing about the Ravnica bouncelands is that they're very often equivalent to a land that generates 1 mana, comes down tapped, and searches your deck for a basic. Compare this to Fertile Thicket and you can begin to see the problem.
@Ryan Roberts modern jund runs cleansing wildfire in the sideboard occasionally depending on how soft jund in to tron in pauper it could be a good sideboard option here too
@Ryan Roberts Pauper is so stultified a whole range of bans would do it some good. If Wizards gets brave they can start with Tron, then move on to counterspell, monarch cards, and more...
Loved seeing you play some Pauper, it's my favorite format after Legacy. I still have old versions of Pauper Zombie Burn and Pauper Elves built, but it's been probably almost two years since I've managed to get a game in paper.
Hearing you talk about bounce lands as a too powerful design mistake is so funny as they are such common includes in commander (especially budget commander) lists that the words just sounded alien. Haha! Glad you like them for something, I usually just feel annoyed to draw one on turn 12.
Pauper is an interesting format, I have tried penny dreadful legacy a couple times. it's one of those formats where you try once every now and then and then forget about it for a while.
Hey Mr. BoshNRoll, Do you think that a Mystical Teachings control deck-or midrange deck can be built and properly tooled up with the right cards- or as close as you can get in the pauper format & meta-game? I would really be interested in your opinion & insight if you believe that a Mystical Teachings control or midrange deck can be built and tooled to the pauper meta-game. Thank you!!
If you check out my Pauper playlist, I played a teachings list not too long ago. :) I think the deck is very powerful, but you need to plan for an expected metagame. I don't think you can answer everything with the deck.
@@BoshNRoll Thank you for your reply! I'm actually going to go and watch your Teachings video now! By the way, I'm a huge fan of your guys' podcast! I thoroughly enjoy it!! Can Teachings control / midrange exist in the pauper meta? You can't be good against everything of course, so at that point are we picking and choosing who our bad match-ups are? Thank you!
Hey Brian, first of all love your content and especially your podcast! As I am more of a casual player, watching your videos help me alot to get better. My question for you regarding this league is for the last matchup against affinity. Though you won the Match, i didn't quite understand your thoughtprocess to not board in cleansing wildfire. Was that just a mistake since it was your first time playing this jund list or is there more behind this decision? I think boarding it in in match 2 instead of pyroblast could have been an option, same with blightning in match 3.
Did I know they had boarding party? I don't think I hold back damage just in case they have their haste creature. If I knew about it maybe I'm supposed to chill with the visionary. Though if they cascade into removal it doesn't matter. Might be a situation where just slamming the monarch back and forth is reasonable.
I went and looked up some pauper affinity lists and I don't see any basic lands in them. Cleansing Wildfire is just cantripping 2 mana stone rain right?
I feel like that's hoping for things to line up right in a matchup that's mostly about applying pressure. Though that was my first time playing the mirror and it's possible racing to 6 mana is just a super important axis.
I really think round 5 you should have scooped the game when you missed your land. He might assume you're on skred at that point and board in pyroblast against your jund deck... You're probably like less than 10% to win that specific game and if I'm correct and they board in pyro against you what percent do you suppose you are to win the following game?
never liked pauper cuz of the weird arbitrary restriction. i guess all formats have an arbitrary restriction, but with commons being legal from random supplemental sets like commander legends, the power levels are all out of wack.
my friends and i always joke about how augur of bolas’ text is “look at the bottom three cards of your library”
It's so true.
I think that's a LSV classic
Oh the best thing to do when both players have a bonders out is abrade theirs when they activate it. Feels sooooooo good

Someone needs to pay this man to play more pauper.
Anything's better than Vintage.
I know this has been while. I would love to see a updated list. I love jund and putting together a list for Pauper. Love the video.

I love pauper. The only decks I have foiled out in real life are Legacy Elves and Pauper Izzet Skred.
Very excited to see pauper on this channel!
Loving this Pauper video streak
Building this ASAP!

Cycling lands and bounce lands are so good together
This deck was absolutely bonkers
Yay! Ppauper content! It feels like most people haven't been playing it since it's not a flashier format.
Wow, what a strong deck. BRB, buying.
Yay pauper. The new cascade cards signaled the death of control.
It's a hard time to be a Skred mage right now.
Pauper is an interesting format, I have tried penny dreadful legacy a couple times. it's one of those formats where you try once every now and then and then forget about it for a while.
Pauper is phenomenal. It has all the depth of Legacy without any of the bullshit (Chalice, Tendrils, etc).
Not every day you see jund beat so many blue decks via card advantage
looks real fun
YAY MORE PAUPER!!!
Thanks you
Well, I just bought into Pauper

Yeah I didn't know if they play any basics or not. Taking them off lands is probably better than Pyroblast with that knowledge.
@24:11 should you have only attacked with the dino to have a blocker back to protect the monarchy?

Yup, that will work a lot of the time.
No consideration for Cleansing Wildfire in the Jund mirror, to take out bouncelands?
I feel like that's hoping for things to line up right in a matchup that's mostly about applying pressure. Though that was my first time playing the mirror and it's possible racing to 6 mana is just a super important axis.
It seems a bit high variance, but I can see it helping get ahead, as the matchup seems to be about trying to snowball
Where does the name “karu lands” come from bc I’ve only ever heard ppl call them “bounce lands”
There's a land called "Karoo" from an older set that has the guild land effect and "t: add {C}{W}"

Round 2, huh, who knew 2-for-1s.dec beats 1-for-1s.dec, especially when the latter is missing land drops?
Round 4, can't pulse get back an Ash Barrens once you cleared the counters?
Happy to take another look, but I'd need a time stamp to find the specific spot.
