- A Walk To the Snowdon mountain ranges’ very special summit. I have learned I hope a little more about the area and the peak. I would look at 6 hours if you are an average walker like me and bring boots and a walking stick. It was tough but incredible. Coming down I went via the Llanberis Path as I was not capable of going back down the Pyg due to my walking difficulties. Met a really lovely set of people all the way up and down though on both paths! Great for photography too as when you are in that amazing caldera it’s really powerful. June 2019.
These are the 6 paths up Mount Snowdon

I did the PYG track last week - absolutely floored me! I didnt prepare for it at all, no exercise, never climbed/hiked before and i have asthma. It took me 6 hours to get to the top! Its not the best time but im very proud of myself for getting up there.
I struggled a lot with the mini "scramble" sections but i loved the views and once i am fitter and lighter i will definitely be returning for a second try!
Also - Love your videos! I may try the llanberis with my nephew next time
cherryblossom2100 hey that’s lovely! I hope these vids are the more real version of these sorts of things. No ego and the truth about what these adventures are really about. I chickened out of going back down the pyg as it was horrendous for us normal folks! Great luck with llanberis and if you ever do it let me know! All the best Paul
Doing this route on saturday with my brother 2 nephews and my son.....did the miners route last year absolutely brilliant hike 👍👍👍👍
Hi Paul I enjoyed your trek up Snowdon you got some nice footage there pity the clouds were down at the top though like you said about crib goch that’s tough I’ve done the full horseshoe about 30 years ago but the weather was perfect all day but it was very tough but rewarding thanks for taking us with you atb mate Glenn
Glenn’s Walks Thanks Glenn! See you’re out and about loads! Cracked couple of ribs 2 months ago so getting back up to speed slowly! Ill keep an eye out on your films! Paul
That’s the exact route my lad and me did a couple of weeks ago , it was our first time and we loved it
We are definitely Doing it again , and are going to try the crib next time ( but we are waiting for the right day for the weather , and starting out early )
Brilliant a great video mate thank you 👌👍🏼
Good luck with crib. It’s a bit much for me though!!
This is a great video thanks. I'm taking the same route tomorrow and back down the llanberis path.
I realised the bud was same price wherever you picked it up so I could really enjoy a much more relaxed route down! Good luck
Thanks for that, I'm doing the exact same route as you've just done and go down the Llanberis path.
Looking forward to it!!
Can’t recommend personally going back that way! I was battered! Good luck! Paul
@@pauljones401 Like you, I'll be parking up in Llanberis and catching Sherpa bus around. Cheers
Brilliant .thanks
Yesterday me and my dad went along the miners track and went 3/4 of the way to the peak but got too tired and went back down the pyg track on a split in the path. It was amazing
Seasoned mountain climbers were giving up earlier than that so well done! It’s about what you can do and enjoying it that’s the best thing!! Cheers Paul
Did it the day before yesterday. Very scenic but tough in my opinion. The first hour had me panting. Breaks are a must unless your fitness is above average.
It was breaking people all around me! I walk really slowly not through choice but it helps at times like these. Well done though! P
Doing this on Saturday, hopefully. So thanks for the video.
It’s brilliant when you first see that amazing lake!
@@pauljones401 looking forward to it 😀
Great video Paul. I may be doing it this Tuesday! But the weather is wet and windy, so I may have to postpone.
If you can postpone I would as it’s one to really enjoy when the weather is right. Good luck! Paul
I noticed you're little gull friend followed you up 😁 ✌
BJ probably saw my feet and thought we were soul brothers!!
When I was 13 in 1998 we went to Plas Gwynant with our school and they took us climbing and assed our skill level then split us off into two groups, my group got to go with the instructor up the Pyg Track but I think he took us on a detour cos I remember at one point we climbed a vertical section. It was quite a clear day and I remember pointing out Angelsey to the other kids cos I've got family there. I don't remember coming back down but I think we came down the miners track.
I think I'm gonna put climbing Snowdon on my fitness goals and work towards it cos I'd love to go back again 20 odd years later.
Same here again as a goal as it’s a big piece of kit that mountain!! Good luck
Great video. You got the same view from the top as me each time I’ve been there😃
Hi!!! You probably didn’t end up chatting to a seagull but these things happen to me! Genuinely great to chat today and I look forward to looking at your great adventures! Paul
@@pauljones401 You’re absolutely right I didn’t. Maybe I should start🤔
Great video, I didn’t know you can get to crib gotch from this path.
No way for me! But did it mid July hence all the grey clouds !!!!
Great video! I love snowdon!
Thanks for subscribing! It’s an epic path. And I loved my pet seagull! Stayed with me for 15 minutes ‘n
Subscribed too!
@@pauljones401 Yeah you see a lot up there! Must be after all the food snacks haha
We (my wife, two daughters aged 10 and 14 and I) did this route last week and thoroughly enjoyed it we went up the Pyg and down the Miners. I think including stops for lunch, drinks and a half hour queue for the peak we were up and down in around 7 hours, definitely recommend proper walking boots for this route I saw lots of people in trainers and most made it but the risk of ankle/foot injuries is definitely an issue especially if it’s even slightly wet. Great video thanks for sharing 👍🏼🏴⛰
Thank you Graham! That’s a brilliant achievement for you all. Apologies for the feet at the start. I realised after I’d posted it is offensive to certain folks! I’ve had a couple of car crashes and some days I can’t walk properly but that day I could have a go. I love the story of the giant at the top and my friendly seagull! Well done again it’s a great memory. Paul. Ps used to love my Massey Ferguson model as a kid!!
@@pauljones401 if you like a Massey Ferguson pop over to my channel as there’s a few videos of my father who’s a working farm manager working in Kent with Masseys current biggest production tractor 🚜😀
No offence at all with the beginning and great work getting up and back especially carrying injuries 😀👍🏼
@@grahamhowland566 No offence at all! Just great to get some good colours out there, particularly right now. I’ll check it out. I’m an anti climber to most. I’m into what most of us can actually do! And all of you sounded like you knocked it out the park! And more to the point the kindness and story you sent to me is fantastic! So genuinely thank you for sharing and I might get up there again myself. Paul. Ps I’m off to Jerusalem next! That might provide some interesting mess ups!
I did the Pyg track up and the Miners down to get a different perspective and really enjoyed it.It was late June and a lot of people at the top waiting for the picture did not wait around and yes very enjoyable.
My knees wouldn’t allow to go back that way! Spectacular though 100%
@@pauljones401 i know how you feel i get this every climb its an age thing mate but onwards and upwards Ben Lomond next week i hope.
@@ericlumley417 sounds brilliant bud! One I’ve heard is amazing! Have a fantastic time!! Paul
Done this today (up the pyg track, down the miners) Jesus did I underestimate it, my legs were on fire and had to stop a few times! Very scenic and well worth it but definitely hard if you’ve not done it before
People say it’s easy but it was amazing listening to where folks had also climbed that they were struggling with this one. Had to do llanberis down as legs not handle it! Hope you had a top day though 👍
Done that walk yesterday, my legs feel like I've well... walked a mountain... pyg track was great.
StrayWinterDragon It’s a bit wild isn’t it???!!!!! You sort of think oh it’s popular and frankly must be reasonably easy..... I was definitely proved wrong!! Well done on that feat. It’s one to treasure! All the very best Paul
@@pauljones401 Amazing yeah, not really any easy tracks. Dead proud of my 10 year old brother for making it all the way to the summit and back. The only downside was when we went in a cloud and we couldn't see the lake below or 5 feet in front of us for a matter of fact. Hope you're doing well
StrayWinterDragon Thank you I am. I remember trying to tell a friend when we climbed snowdon that there might be cloud and needed waterproof gear. He said why? At that point I had to tell him clouds are wet!!! Great for your bro to do it, mines had 2 hip replacement so can’t but it’s why I put them up when I can. To show the magic of these places!!
@@pauljones401 I hope your brother recovers well. We decided to bring our two dogs with us aswell, it was a unique experience to put it lightly. The wind and rain honestly got us drenched though. Don't know if I could've done it without waterproofs.
StrayWinterDragon Wow bet that was tough! But what a place. 100%. Hope you filmed it or got some great pictures too! Sorry I’m not a gamer, I had a quick check of your channel, I literally only own an iPhone 5 but good wishes. Paul
Pyg track and Miners track start from the same car park, so you could do a circular route to get in both paths.
Great point. My knees though wouldn’t allow me back down either of those two. 100% and glad I saw sense for a change.
And good video thanks. Attempting it Saturday for the first time in the daytime with the dog and a 6 year old. I’ll let you know how we get on…..
It’s a great challenge but very rewarding. Certainly interested to hear how you all do! P
How did you get on?
@@sootyspark7281 we managed it. Helped by glorious weather and a sensible pace. Up the Pyg and down the miners track.
Super video!
James Buckton Thanks fella! Thought it had got a bit lost the video. But a really tough walk to me but really magical! Paul
Paul Jones I completed the Pyg a few weeks back now and it was certainly tougher than expected in parts. Aside from Crib Goch it’s the toughest in my opinion.
James Buckton I tried crib and then politely turned back. I was properly scared! All the best with your adventures! Paul
Which month did you do the walk? It’s very quiet
I did the PYG route a couple of days ago and honestly felt it a breeze but somehow I did it at the age of 13 with NO caffeine or food?!?
Old car crash is my problem. Some days it’s like I’ve had 20 coffees then next day rubbish! Just a great place though however you get there 👍
It was my first hike ever and completed in 5 and half hours. Tbh didn't seem difficult to me at all.
I’ve had couple of car crashes that catch up with me every now and then so that day was tough. Its why I film as not sure how much longer I can do these things. But It’s amazing though and what a fantastic first hike! Well done 👍👍👍
@@pauljones401 thank you..i didn't know hike could be addictive haha. Now i am trying to find another place to hike.
@@nini5603 Snowdon Ranger path is brilliant. Hardly anyone does it and it’s full of great colours 👍🏻
just had an absolute nightmare trying to climb snowdon, thought i was doing the pyg track but after watching this im pretty sure i just climbed up the side of a cliff hahaha. love the video
Well just great you’re ok! Pretty sure I followed the pyg but it was sketchy at times!
@@pauljones401 achey but buzzing hahaha, ben nevis next (when it's a bit warmer though)
Hi any ideea what was the car park name?
Nant peris park and ride. About a mile outside llanberris. Means you don’t get towed and decent loos too!
Car park where the pyg track starts is Pen Y pass
What month was this
June actually. It was a surprise the weather
Perfect the way that gull fitted into the frame of that tarn and or lake Paul. ua-cam.com/video/GNWqRu2d80Q/v-deo.html it kind of sums up the day. I enjoyed the mention of King Arthur. After the raves years ago we started a round table project and actually built one. Here's a video of it Paul on my old channel, which I'm not on much currently. ua-cam.com/video/zLQR67JCIjI/v-deo.html I hope you like it. Any way, it was that good the gull followed you up to the summit. Ha ha! Good going. Mark
Wye Explorer That’s brilliant! I’ll have a look. I used to rave to. Hence talking to Arthur the seagull made perfect sense!!!??!! Regards Paul
You got the train down didn’t you….😉
Too expensive!
Did this Sat 17th September 2022. Ouch. I still hurt.
It’s why I went down the other way! I’d got the train if I could have afforded it!!
@@pauljones401 Pyg up and Llanberis down. 4 days later my knees are still swollen and my calves are still on fire. I’m ‘relatively’ fit but was shocked how relentless going up was! Ben Nevis in June though so hopefully I’ll be a tad more mentally prepared!
I did llanberris up and down this Tuesday, my first ever hike and wow my legs are in bits. Rotating between epsom salt baths and ice packs 😂 The weather was absolutely un real.
@@ChargedWords it catches you out! No amount of training prepares you until you do it! Well done though and cracking day!
Pyg is pen y gwryd!
Thank you
£3 return now.
I just noticed last week as I had to pay the new amount!
I did this yesterday. Someone died. Tragic.
Gosh absolutely. Were they on the pyg track and fell?
@@pauljones401 yes, just above the junction with the Miners track after the switchback, there is a steep section, just a few yards but the guy fell apparently. There was lots of help and a doctor on the scene but to no avail sadly. I think he went into shock and his heart gave out. Plenty of upset people on the track as you might imagine.
@@MorningCarnival Happened around me on Tryfan. I know where you mean. It’s that feeling of helplessness. Hope you’re ok too. Paul
@@pauljones401 thanks. I was there with my Daughter, first time for her. A wake up call I guess but ok. Thanks.
