It's great to see a real rider learning rather than a pro telling me how easy it is. Fantastic progression in just one day. I may need to try this.

Ill always Say manuals generally arnt so much about the "balance point" but more about the fear of falling backwards.

Glad it helped for you! I never found that manual machines worked for me. And i fell like its better to just learn in a parking lot because you are able to turn and move the bike around. But what matters is that you progressed!

Thanks man. I get what you’re saying. This just gives me time to practice the basics. I definitely still need to get out and practice on the streets etc.

I wholeheartedly agree. I have grown weary of many online "pro" riders always say "oh this is wrong, this is different, you never gonna learn it from this" they constantly emphasizing nuances such as shifts in weight distribution, the importance of committing fully to maneuvers, and the necessity of maintaining arm extension while squeezing the brakes. These are all aspects that aspiring learners are likely already familiar with, having viewed numerous instructional videos. The notion of "you got to commit into it" is a common refrain, yet I believe that many learners are indeed capable of commitment. Many have experienced numerous falls, understand the significance of wearing a helmet, and appreciate that even a fall, even when landing on one's back, may not be as disastrous as feared. However, the physiological resistance one experiences is not easily controlled through mere cognitive awareness that the consequences may not be severe. It is akin to acrophobia, where reactions vary in intensity among individuals.
For individuals who exhibit strong physiological responses, the utilization of manual machines can be immensely beneficial. It is imperative to engage the cerebellum, the part responsible for maintaining bodily balance, akin to training a machine learning model with ample data samples to gradually refine our abilities. Even commencing with a less-than-perfect and somewhat exaggerated dataset that may lead to overfitting is not a detrimental start. It allows for the gradual cultivation of confidence, enabling the brain's equilibrium mechanisms to adapt to similar scenarios. By amalgamating our imperfect model with real-world road conditions and intensifying training progressively, we embark on an effective and incremental path forward. Many "pro" riders, it seems, are overly biased in their perspectives.

Don't give up. Just peactice it and you'll get it down. I managed to do it out of luck, while I was practicing the wheelie. Instead of being 45 degrees, my mnual was around 25 to 35 degrees and went on like two or three meters away. I won't give up cuz wheelie and manual are basic skills to unlock the rest.

Made one once. It was definitely useful! It helped me better understand positioning and how to sort of push the bike rather? Anyways. Helpful to an extent. Fun if u like all things bike related.

Why spend time on manual machine when you have such quality road right in front of your house? You don't need manual machine at all. Manuals are all about time investment. If you practice 15min a day, you will learn it GOOD in 4-6 months. Chech my (only) video on here 😊

I get what you’re saying 👍 However, when you’re a dad of four kids, work a full time job and live in a place laced with that snows like crazy in the winter… a manual machine is a great way to practice the skill.

We spend so much on mountain bikes, BUT not enough on riding skills (in my humble opinion). I’m really glad I got this. Spent that much, so now I have to learn how to manual.

Why did you go for music that sounds like the TUTUTUTU MAX VERSTAPPEN meme? Sounds horrible to me. I don't think music is needed for this video anyway.
But on serious note, why not just go outside and practise manuals? Then the chain won't effect the manual. But Tilt Industires that has a manual machine that doubles as a repair stand, and you can get a plastic thing that goes on the chain ring so the cranks can rotate without takin the chain off. being able to move the crank forward and forward helps to correct the position.
