I’ve been riding since 69 and had many bikes. Nomadic lifestyle meant not keeping most of my bikes. Currently down to one and reckon on riding for many years yet. Great stuff Charley!

Ah, Charlie... You make me a bit jealous because I didn't keep some of the great bikes I've owned over the years. I'm a bit older than you (1937 model). and my first bike was a 1937 Indian Scout with Chief fenders. My uncle was a Ford dealer and he'd taken it in trade on a new 1950 Ford. My mother was seriously pissed at him, but she got over it...and I rode it illegally until I could get a license the next year! I'm 85 and still have a BMW R90S, a Guzzi LeMans that's pretty seriously modified and a '73 Ducati 750 Desmo SS that's all original except for updated electrics (not optional, but mandatory on these). I don't have much use for "modern" bikes...not much chaaracter and WAY too much money. Keep it upright!

Thanks for watching. I’d love an R90S one day, which year model and colour do you have? For me, it has to be a Daytona Orange. Actually my would love a Le Mans also. Sounds like you’ve manage to hang onto a couple of classics

Ahh the Trading Post. Bought that paper every Thursday.
Amazing how so many people’s introduction to riding was like Charlie’s.

Nice collection. I like his attitude. I often think I should buy a little bike and do a restoration job. I don't know much though so I keep prioritising towards just riding a bike and paying someone to fix it when it stuffs up.

There are some very good new and young riders out there but I do worry about if there are enough of them to replace all of riders from the 1960s when we are gone.

Where I live in Sydney it feels like there are more and more younger folk getting into bikes, and plenty of social riding groups around

Go for it. Started riding in 1960 on a Triumph Cub. Played with all kinds of motorcycles over the years. What a ride. Sadly, my sense of balance has forced me off my bikes. I still own them ,Still play with them, just no rode riding. Glad I also played with Triumph sports cars too. Still get the wind in my not so plentiful hair. Keep the shiney side up

Love the mix of bikes he's got, from the Norton with it's cycle parts in original condition complete with patina to the full on resto goldie. Goes to show how important an interest is in keeping you out of god's waiting room. Long may you continue to get your leg over Charlie

G'day Calum, the Norton was owned by Kenneth McKenzie of Achnahaird Farm ,Achiltibuie ,Ullapool.Just out of curiousity,I wrote to that address and a letter came back from Kenneth's son, Hector.A lovely man .. I sent him a video of the Norton running..and he was very happy to know that his dad's bike is alive and well.

@weediebloke thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I work with an Ullapool man and will ask if he knows the family. I'm from a little farther North and consequently am not so familiar with the folks on that part of the coast.
A Norton would have been considered quite a rare and special machine in those parts.
Most rode Enfields, BSAs, Triumphs, the odd Matchless. My Great Grandfather never owned a car despite giving a licence, he rode bikes, I think he mainly rode triumphs but he did have a P & M Panther at one stage. Not a common bike in the North.
You have a wonderful collection there sir. I hope it brings you joy for many years to come.
