  • The PNW is known for some of the best views you'll ever see, native only to this part of America. Each season brings its own colorful take on the landscapes, and Fall is the most coveted time to see these lands.
Washington State's Alpine Lake Wilderness is home to the Larch Trees, which turn color in the fall much like a maple tree. It takes some effort to be able to witness these in person, as you must hike to high elevations where they reside. Lake Ingalls is a very popular hike in this wilderness, and is known for its abundance of larch trees.
I set out in the fall to photograph the larch trees myself, and camp overnight in one of the coolest places I've ever been to here in the PNW.
What's your favorite hike in the PNW?

A good place for tamarack tree colors in the fall is on the east side of the Blewett Pass crest.
