Welcome to EliasTCobb Photos!
Hello:) Elias here, and I'm a landscape photographer. This channel's purpose is to show you first hand what it's all about packing up your camera and tripod in hopes to capture the beauty you see in the world. I think these days we all need a little more of that.
I started landscape photography at the beginning of 2021, and man what a ride it has been! On my channel I bring my camera everywhere with me, whether it'd be in my local area of Portland, OR, or traveling to any destination. I try to showcase any knowledge and tricks I've learned in my short time in this field that I wish I had in the very beginning.
So if you love photography, beautiful scenery, or just a GOOD story, hit that SUBSCRIBE button and I'll see you in the comments!

Spending Thanksgiving In Van Life In Central Oregon
More van life content!
Back in 2023 I decided to take the van out over the Thanksgiving holiday and travel farther with it than I have yet to go, in preparation for a BIG trip I was planning for the Christmas break.
Being that it's just Goku and myself, we really don't have any family to spend Thanksgiving with. So we set off to Central Oregon to a place I've yet to go to called the Painted Hills. This was the first of two stops on this little mini trip of mine.
Although it was a little lonely spending the holidays alone, I am grateful for the opportunities I get like this to do what I love doing!

Van Life Camping In Oregon's Columbia River Gorge
Переглядів 28421 день тому
Now that I've officially started the "Van Life" chapter on this channel, I'm so excited to start sharing the incredible journeys we've taken in it! In the Fall of 2023 I took the van out to the infamous Columbia River Gorge on the border of Washington and Oregon. Home to what seems like endless waterfalls, towering peaks, and load of hiking trails. I spent the night in this beautiful area to wa...

All previous episodes are listed below. We have finally reached the end of the van build series. This episode I install everything needed to finally bring the van to a point where I was comfortable using it. I gotta say, bittersweet with this episode. I honestly did not enjoy how I presented the van build to UA-cam as a "How To" series. I'm just a normal guy, who learned how to build out a van ...
My First Night Out In The Van

If you've been following me for a while on social media, or this UA-cam channel, you'll know that I've slowly built out a 2003 T1N Mercedes Sprinter Van. And the time has FINALLY come to share my very first night out in the van! Ever since I traveled to Norway in 2022 running around in a van, I knew this is what I wanted. So starting this van life era of the channel is monumental to me. My firs...

Part 14 covers how I built and installed the two upper cabinets in the van. I am not a carpenter, but I feel like these came out how I wanted them to. The basis of design was buying prefabricated shaker doors from Ikea, and building the dimensions of the cabinets around them. Apologies in advance for being half naked. It was summer and VERY hot. Hiking The North Cascades In The Fall

This is part 2 of mine and Goku's first trip together. Fall is one of my favorite seasons, especially in Washington State. Just outside of the North Cascades National Park are plenty of easy to moderate hikes that get you elevated FAST. Maple Loop Pass is a popular area as the access is fairly easy. Goku and I spent our last day here, trying to chase the light in hopes of a good sunset. I wasn'...

Part 13 of the van build was how I constructed the two benches on either side of the wall. Nothing super fancy, just seats with cushions and lids that open to storage underneath. Hope this helps someone trying to figure out how to build their own benches:) Apologies in advance for being half naked. It was summer and VERY hot. I've never taken Goku on an outting before. And now that his mother, my (now ex) fiance has left for the East Coast, it was time to initiate what would be the start of many adventures together. Last October, I packed up my dog and supplies and headed to the North Cascades in Washington State, to hopefully catch what was left of the larches that had turned color for the fall. Nice 👍
@@dodgecityvanlife thanks! :)
It must have been nice to have that place pretty much to yourself. It's on my list of places to go and see also. I just did my first overland trip 2 weeks ago. We went to the Owyhee Canyon. Beautiful place. Can't wait to go back and explore more. I'm glad you and your best friend did an adventure instead of sitting home on Thanksgiving. I look at holidays as time to spend them however you want. It is different for everyone and there is no right or wrong way to spend them. Just be happy in whatever you choose, so good for you! I'm glad you are in a better place emotionally now. That stuff can be really hard. Keep up the good work. Iook forward to the next adventure.
@@thomasreilly4156 appreciate all of that Thomas🙏🏻and I agree as long as you’re happy then there’s no wrong way to spend them:) Also that’s really cool you’re getting into overlanding. The Owyhee area is incredible! I also need to get myself back out that way.
Great to see you out and about with the van.
@@thomasreilly4156 finally doing the van thing!
Happy Thanksgiving to you ! Bless you.

Blown away by the beauty of the visuals you captured, and so beautifully edited with well fitting music. A real meditation of art and nature. One of the most stunning scenic/ hiking and nature videos I have seen. And you have such a positive energy and charisma in you narration, soulful and poetic. I just chanced upon your channel from one of your Yosemite videos, am so looking forward to checking out your other videos. Cheers from Scotland.
@@shadyberero6809 man, idk what to say! Thank you so much for all of that🙏🏻 It really means a lot to me. Hope you enjoy the rest of the channel! I hear Scotland is absolutely amazing!

@@bryceacd thanks Hilary:)
I went there a couple of months ago. There were hundreds of people there. Absolutely no where to park/camp. I told my wife I think it is because of You Tube. The liberal west side of the state is discovering Eastern Oregon and now turning it into Portland. Too bad. Up North in Wallowa County, it has been overtaken by liberal yuppies.
Smith Rock is not in Bend. Terrebonne 🤣

4stop4 lens open for 1/200/sec? Does that mean it captures higher res n contrast or as fast as in almost realtime like how you have seen it through the human naked eye... its as if your adjusting the mabual to see through your perspective?
@@user-hk6pu8nt1s i shoot everything in manual, and I wanted to capture the water from the fall with zero motion blur. So 1-200th sec seemed to work:)
Can you give any insight to the dates this might have been? Have a chance to visit first week of October that area and wonder if the fall foliage is popping then?

Probably time to make the switch!
Thank you, Elias! I hope to bring my beginners drone techniques to the Hanksville area during the heat of August. As a landscape photographer who also does astrophotography, the clear moonless skies over this landscape should be breathtaking....so dark and low humidity should reveal stars not seen in most places. I can hardly wait. Thank you for adding to my inspirations!
Appreciate it! I was pretty bummed this trip wasn’t timed right with the moon cycle:( I’ve not been able to do a lot of Astro in these places due to that. I wish you the best luck with weather on your trip!
More, please!!
Thanks for that:)
Well done, brother! The drone shot at Tin Can Gap was a great shot, as was the finishing ladder perspective.
Appreciate that Evan!❤️🙏🏻
Thanks for sharing your great photographs, and especially for sharing your heart with us. Best to you, Elias.
❤️❤️❤️ Thanks again Randy
Your photo at 8:14 is outstanding...great light, great composition. And, your drone work is fine! Thanks for sharing this video.
Dang, thanks Randy! All of that means a lot:)❤️🙏🏻
I've spent a lot of time in Leslie Gulch over the last 40 years riding the trails on motorcycles and flying my ultralight. One of my favorite areas of Oregon. Next time you're there I recommend driving over to Three Finger Gulch and taking a hike. High clearance vehicle required but the canyon walls are spectacular. Early summer is best when the grass is tall and green. There are caves, a very old rock corral, and thousands of birds nesting in the cliffs. Just don't tell anyone about it!
Appreciate it! I’ll definitely put it on my list:)
I know this is off subject of video..but..How long did it take with stops from lot? How much vertical was it? I was gonna split board tour, but it looks like boot packing will do the trick. Did you use crampons, or just your snowboard boots? Mine have a super grippy sole but just wondering if crampons are necessary for a morning hike up.
Nah not off topic at all! It took me about 3.5 to 4 hours to get from Timberline to Illumination rock. I would honestly split board it vs boot packing, it would be that much easier i think. I did end up wearing snowshoes for it though, but mostly because I didn’t have crampons or micro spikes. Spring snow is tricky, and can be super soft. You can post hole a lot if you don’t wear snowshoes or skis.
@@eliastcobb5506 good info thanks man..also, I’m an idiot cause I know you wore snowshoes lol cause I watched the whole video 🤦🏻♂️

Elias, so glad to see you finally got the van out! You can plan all you want but you will always find something later like why didn't I think of that. Like all projects you will be adjusting as you go along. You needs might change or whatever that's just part of it. Bummer about the door not working right but I'm sure you got it fixed right away. As always I enjoyed the photography that you did get. I know you are always wanting "The perfect light", but you know what there is a special beauty in the imperfect light as well. I think the shots you got were great. Great job and can't wait to see where you two go next.
