Certain rap/hip hop acts from the 80s had a serious rock sound in their backbeat. I’m an 80s metal head and it was very easy for me to grasp many of these acts. And the acts like Run DMC gave me a bridge to other acts. I ended up digging so many acts, and even some from the 2000s and such. But I like the 80s styles the best because that was my era. Run DMC even played Live Aid in 85 as the only rap act. They were fantastic live.

One of those cats put this song on the BOOM BOX they had and i swear the whole dam school on that side of the building ran to the class room windows!! for us RUNDMC was born

I used to take an old cassette recorder and tape these classics of hip hop greatness from the radio back in the 80s. Great memories from a great decade of music
And memories of buying all those batteries, hurrying to roll up that cassette with a pencil and tape it when it snapped... during a master mix on your beat box outside on the stoop. LOL
Ali Gaines My parents had an 8 track car stereo in a old Chevelle. You can’t rewind 8 tracks lol. The 80s was a great decade. I was born in 1980 so I didn’t appreciate some of this music until I got old enough to appreciate it’s greatness.
