I was a passenger in a Trident in 1973, LHR TO DUBLIN. As the plane taxied out for take off, every joint it crossed on the taxiway delivered a series of rattles and shakes that did not inspire confidence in those who screwed it together. The aircraft that brought me to London was a Vanguard. That was pretty OK.
Why didn't they use the Rolls Royce Conway engines on the later versions of the Trident instead of the under powered Tays which didn't have enough thrust to take off on the Trident 3s so they slapped a booster engine on the back making it a tri jet with 5 engines including the Apu which was similar to the booster.🤔

Didn't give the Trident much thought, as I was in love with the VC10.....still am! I do however respect it's Autoland capabilities.
Beautiful aircraft. I had the pleasure of flying on one with my father in 1977. Prestwick to LHR if i recall correctly.
The Trident could have been a great contender in the airliner market had BEA not f***ed it up!

A trijet with 5 engines! 👍 I have written this in another similar video 😂
Tridents were equipped with RR Spey's, not Tay 's :)
@@Linaiago you're correct my bad Tay's Spey,s sounds similar but still under powered.
